Just ordered one in thunderstorm. Can’t wait. I personally think the blade is more like a patriot than a commander. The point is more profound which really sold me on this.
As a Marine and a knife guy I'm still on Emerson's side. I'm the military weight is death and it all adds up. Little things as well. Being able to quickly and easily work on your field knife is amazing. I've carried Emerson since my first deployment until today and as much as I love all the new toys that old reliable dependability is clutch. Ooh-Rah and all that hard Corps shit
The first knife I bought as a marine was a cqc7. It felt cheap compared to my previous knife (paraframe, lol) and the lockbar maxed out against the show side scale after the first hard cut. Returned it for warranty, came back the same. Gave it away. Bought a 940 and it was my only knife for the remainder of my time in the military, and 5 years after.
Had plenty of Emersons with messed up lock geometry. If you find one with good lock up after use, keep it. I agree plenty of other makers who seem more consistent with their locks.
I use to pause over Emersons. I guess I just have not experienced the negative defects. They just seem like nonfancy tools that work for their intended purpose.
I love emerson, I have a few but my issue with them is the liner locks. I have a couple that have rock solid lock ups, but I also have a few that have very weak lockups and they have only gotten worse over time. I wish he would go to a more sturdy lock type, maybe a version of the axis lock or a lockback.
Honestly *IF* the lock geometry is done right, a liner or frame (RIL) lock is a solid lock. Problem is, some makers don't have good QC and let junk slip out the door. All depends on the maker and the QC procedures set in place during manufacturing.
Bought a Commander after watching your vids back in the day around 2012 , I have never actually carried or used this knife as I am the collecter type but have enjoyed couch flipping it every now and then over the years. I wish more companies would offer chisel grinds on their models , doing the finger nail test its the sharpest knife I have ever bought right out of the box, after market titanium scales for this would be great to find
Im all for properly heattreated Magnacut, i just wish it came on more knives my size. If Emerson came out with a Super Seax in Magnacut, he'd have my money yesterday
I’m an Emerson fan. I have all three of the correctly offered lefty models and will buy more if they make them. Really hoping for a lefty Com-7 at some point, but my #1 lefty want is a Seax.
It is almost as though Emerson knives is waiting for a day when there is a very special super steel to come out to the market before they upgrade their steel choice. Also the handle is considerably better than the standard CQC7’s, I thought the CQC7 was pretty uncomfortable and small.
At least that version has a guard Fuckin hell what is with the og 7 just being flat? Especially with a stabbing oriented blade shape. Glad that change was made.
CQC6 only exists as a custom and the main difference between the 7 is it has a pointed handle butt as opposed to the squared off butt of the 7m They are the same size. There is a super cqc-7 that is larger than the regular 7
I love the look of Emerson knives, I just can’t stand the obnoxious billboarding on them. I’m not even one of those snobs who absolutely needs a sterile blade, Emerson is just over the top. I do love my Protech cqc 7 in 20cv.
@@ReclusiveMountainMan Great point. Emerson wasn't first to create this style, but was one of the first to mass produce them and build a large brand out of it
You dont understand emerson as a brand. The price comes with the warranty.. its a knife for life. That $300 doesn't just buy the knife.. it buys 2, maybe 3 blades. 4 maybe 5 liners. Unlimited screws, clips, etc. I could go chop down a tree with my emerson tomorrow, snap the blade, and they'll replace it, no questions asked..
@@dstnctw2123I’m an emerson fanatic and they are my knife BUT unless it’s a factory issue you will have to pay something for a new blade, liners, etc. and it also depends on if the knife you are repairing is in stock. Regardless they have amazing warranty and I never leave the house without an Emerson on me.

@FeW126 lol Hard use = fixed blade

I dig it. Good video.. never seen your channel before..
I really wanted one of these for all those reasons you mentioned. Looks very cool.
Right on! Thanks for watching!
I’m onboard. Just ordered one. Long time since I wanted an Emerson.
.
Commander in Magnacut and Thunderstorm....I can only dream. Thanks for showing this one.
Any Emerson in Magnacut...think it's time for Emerson to upgrade steel choice considering the price they charge.
Checking HRC today. On both steels. Video soon.
Can't wait!
@ Am curious where you got information regarding MagnaCut being 72-64 HRC? Or 154CM being soft for that matter…
@@CuttingBoardRx It's what they have listed in the emerson knives website
@ Yeah, well… it’s a hit and a miss…
@CuttingBoardRx 😭
Ordered my Com-7 today 😎💪🏾🔥

I peep that Ed Calderon sneakreaper pocket clip! Any plans of getting a Elvia?
Emerson Knives Super Elvia #edgedmindset #emersonknives #edcalderon #self defense
First Chris reeves now Emerson. Might need to pick one of these up

Love Emerson knives !!
About time they offered a newer steel. Never thought I’d see the day this happened.

25 i realized i couldn't eat a whole pizza, at 30 i couldn't even eat half a pizza without issues.
🤣
Im using 440c.
Super cool

Sending mine out to get tested as we speak.
Let me know!
Aren't those more like the CQC6? Wasn't the CQC7 the version with longer (almost 4 inch) blade?

Been looking at this knife for a bit. Curious to see how their MC is run. Good to see an Emerson vid, has it been since the Xiuxiu1313 days?
Almost! I did some.Emerson content maybe a year ago or so
Simple design, good material no doubt but just a little stiff on the price!
Agreed
Snagged one…my 18th Emerson…from soft mushy ‘er to HARD magnacut? Fingers crossed.
🤞🤞🤞

I totally get that
I've never owned an Emerson, but this Magnacut version has peaked my interest for sure.
I have never heard of this brand before.
How old are they?
Old. Ernest Emerson is the godfather of the modern tactical folder. They have been around since the mid 90's
@@edged_mindset Don't forget Bob T., Allen E., etc. Emerson was one of the first to exploit this genera of folding knives.
@@ReclusiveMountainMan Great point. Emerson wasn't first to create this style, but was one of the first to mass produce them and build a large brand out of it
Is the Emerson lock up strong ?
Totally lost interest in Emerson's with the policies toward other countries.🤷♂️
3x overpriced for what it is
Agreed. The price for what you get doesn't add up. Especially since other USA makers can do it cheaper.
3X? For your sake, i hope youre trolling
Unless you buy on the secondary market you’ll probably have to spend about 300$ give or take for an Emerson-direct from EKI
