3/5 of this season's cast being black really added such a fantastic layer to this campaign. Don't know if there would have been a storyline about reclaiming the word muggle without that lmao. I also love how even though it's a made up nonsense word with no negative meaning outside of this campaign, because of the extremely obvious analogy applied to it, Brennan is still the last one at the table to say it pffffffbbbf.....
Well that's the thing, it isn't just a nonsense word. In the Harry Potter universe it is basically a Slur. While death eaters/slytherin folks use it exclusively in a racist context, the rest of the magical world still uses muggle to look down upon the non magical world. I believe that's part of the reason they keep dunking on it during the campaign lmao
This entire campaign is just Aabria refusing to give up on bits no matter what. The word muggle is a slur? She will not let the players get away with saying it. The fact wizards don't even know what _nukes_ are? She will not let the players convince wizards that they know even basic things about the non-magical world. So much of the campaign's comedy comes from Aabria's stubbornness.
I love how at his introduction, he didn’t exclude everyone or try to deceive them concerning the mysterious magical being. Unlike most YA characters who discover magic, he’s not entranced by the first glimpse into the fantasy world. Instead he says, “Hey, anyone see that big-ass bird over there?!”

The Harry Potter books took place in the 90’s. In the Misfits and Magic world, the DND campaign takes place in the world those books were based on and it happens in the modern day. So the idea is that the wizarding world is dealing with the Wizard supremacy ideology in a post-Voldemort world, but doing so in a more liberal idpol sort of way where it’s blanket bans on words rather than allowing muggle-borns to use the word. And you can see the principle accidentally calls them muggles instead of NAMPs because, despite enforcing the rule about the word, doesn’t actually give a shit about non magical people. It’s all a power play for her

Its based on a parodized Hogwarts style world with all its pureblood magocratic nonsenical bullshittery cranked up to like an 11, and since Muggle is the term for non-magical people which wizards see as lesser to them they just cranked up how discriminatory it sounds. Thats really all there is to it, its a funny joke and makes for a great running gag...
I'm so curious what Aabria's personal opinion of this whole debacle was, like as DM she had to play characters that were mostly against it with the logic that they are now wizards, but there's not many 1-to-1 analogies for suddenly not being a minority anymore so I wonder if her actual opinions differ, like if she was a player would she be yelling it next to Jammer cx
mudblood is a magical person born from one or more muggles, muggle is a straight up nonmagical person, and a squib is a person born from two wizarding parents but unable to do magic.

If anything, these seemed pretty red pilled. They show time and time again that even though they're magical people now, they should be able to say the word. Its just a word. I'm sure theres no correlation to anything in the real world though.
