A nice cheerful video to start the new year! Been away on holiday a bit so less on channel than usual, will be back to normal soon. Been a huge year for me with how well Classic and the channel has done overall, just want to say a huge thanks to one and all for the support and wishing you all well over your time off! Here's to a solid start to the new year! WillE
I recently started a Warlock on Pagle US and am sitting at 32. I'm guildless, have no IRL friends that play and only one internet friend that plays. At this point I've already added several people to my friends list and they have added me, I've run into a few people that I don't even have friended a number of times and we've helped each other with quick quests or traded food or crafting items. Do I feel like I'm part of a community? Yeah, I've interacted with people randomly more in these 32 levels than I did all of the last two expansions of retail WoW. I think an issue a lot of people are running into is they run themselves into a guild or circle of friends and then just choose NOT to interact with random people as much as they could because they don't feel the need to. It's not Blizzard's fault you're choosing to be anti social.
You are spot on. I'm personally quite the introvert and chosen to be rather anti social as a player, I haven't really made friends in Classic. However, I do recognize names and it does feel like a community on the server even if I've chosen to be observing it rather than an active part of it. But that's fine, I like it that way. My boyfriend on the other hand is also introverted, but likes to be social in games and he always interact with random people. So he has made a ton of new acquaintances and friends in Classic.
Christopher Osborne the issue is there are just so many players at level 60 I see players I haven’t seen before a lot more often than players I remember.
@@Amplifymagic No...i tryed strike up conversations with randoms in retail 9/10 times you get no answer a few times you get a rly short answer and like 1/100 startsa proper conversation (more then 1-2 sentences between you two). In classic atleast 7/10 answer in some way and 4/10 starts conversations with you...
10:00 Yes, during the world PvP era I made a lot of new friends (on both factions), battled against the same people daily, joined the server discord to chat with the alliance I was battling against did some fair 1v1s with them, also im doing massive amounts of tailoring and love seeing people with my crafted gear on, recognize a ton of people from dungeon groups (farmed close to exalted argent dawn), started mentoring same class players who were new to the game who ask me help weekly. Im on Firemaw server EU, so one of the biggest. I think that sums up my community belonging experience.
I rolled PvE from the start. Because I spent a decade getting ganked while leveling. I've already gotten at least one character to max level in every expansion on a PvP server. I have nothing to prove, and no need to punish myself like that again.
From the nordic WoW community, I got a very clear elitist kind of feel about the whole PvP vs. PvE server choice issue. If you suggested that perhaps going PvE might offer a more fun levelling experience, you were a carebear, or you didn't understand the classic wow experience or any other kind of "you are not worthy" kind of attitude from most people. It was as though there wasn't really a choice. Either go PvP or go home. It's kind of ironic to see how a lot of people now realize that classic got all the same issues in regards to world PvP as vanilla had. World PvP wasn't "mostly engaging and rewarding" back then... It was mostly either griefing or you were on the receiving end of somebody's honor farming. Nothing had changed it seems. And I never understood why anyone expected it to be different this time around.
pretty obvious blizz just doesn't wanna pay AWS or whomever for more server/cpu time. it's mostly a greed-based position. however... I sincerely believe, petty and ridiculous as it may seem, that some folks in the upper management at blizzard have been unable to let go of how poorly they misread the community's desire for classic ("you think you do, but you don't") and the subsequent egg on their faces -- and the fact that it's *still* more popular than 'retail' wow, which is itself a pretty major indictment of the last several years of development, management and spending on the game.
I have been thinking about transferring to make honor grind easier, transfer to a 99% ally server to rank on. I figure the honor cap will be lower than the 1.3m grind on my server with 30 min que times
It’s actually worse on small realms because the pool size will be small. Less than 1000 people means you can be like 150th place for the week and only get like half of rank 4 because you only got placed in the 6th or 7th bracket. The key is to convince your realm to play alts. If everyone makes the pool 3-4X larger by playing a single game of WSG (15 hk) on a 10+ alt then everyone can push rank not only faster but higher with the same grind. One afternoon per week should be spent getting 15 hk on as many alts as possible to inflate the pool to make the brackets larger.
I am on Heartseeker, one of the several overflow servers from Stalagg, which was packed with Horde and according the to graphics showed in this video is still about 72% Horde. Heartseeker is the opposite. Blizz might consider merging the two as characters max out, interest wanes and phase 3 is still a while away. Although population dense events like AQ40 might make combining servers impractical. Still hard to believe servers do not have the capacity to handle 10,000 active players at once.
I started right into Herod PVP as alliance because i wanted to have those cool duels with someone out in this hostile world, and to experience world PVP like so many people said it would be. But unfortunately I fell behind the curve quite quickly when it came to levels so that fantasy was out of the question due to the fierce competitiveness the community adopted with progression. Due to my realm's faction imbalance, world PVP turned into me hoping that group of horde or that skull over there didn't decide to make me waste another 20 min corpse running.(which they did 70% of the time) And to cap it all off, I was a level 51 warrior when phase 2 hit, so I gave honor to the power-farming 60's, and sadly all my friends quit before phase 2 dropped. So the game is now rendered unplayable for me at this point, which is really disappointing. Despite that, great video WillE, happy new year!! (note: I had played on multiple PVP private servers in the past, so THOUGHT id' have enough tolerance to endure all of the nonsense)
man u had just enough time to level, i myself was 2 weeks late into release and as a casual player cause of my job, made it to 60 long before phase 2... my cousin who is 14 leveled to 60 and he started when phase 2 began as an ally warrior on mostly horde server, so you should be able to do it too... >.>
William Quantrill some people don’t have time to play during the week and only have a few hours to play on the weekend and without knowing the poster how can you determine how much time was enough?
I am on Skeram Alliance and I recognize and get recognized by plenty of people outside of my guild. I think it's one of the most tight knit communities. Tight knit doesn't me we all get along just that people recognize and remember eachother.
Rolling more characters under same acc when server is full should have little to no computation overhead as simultaneously you can play one at a time anyway.
Lucky to be on Dreadmist EU, feels like the sweet spot honestly other than a slight horde favour. Definitely a community feel as a mainly dungeon/raid player. I commonly see similar people I did SM with when I ran Mara, then again later with raiding. It’s nice to be invited on your reputation at being a good and decent player and I do the same when making my groups, I know and invite people I know from the scene! Have loved WoW classic personally, took my time, didnt take part in aspects i didn’t enjoy, and have made friends I talk to most days of the week.
I think there’s a very loud minority in this game that won’t be happy with anything. 90% of people in wow don’t give a shit about pvp, we log on for raids and that’s about it. Nothing they do to pvp or realm pop is gonna change that cause the game is just kinda boring once hitting 60
For me I love PvP, questing etc is there just to give me xp and gold and that's about it. It's not rewarding it's just a grind but PvP is fun as it's not a AI computer.
Trueee most of my guild only logs in for raids now and I can't get a single person to join me for WSG :/ I don't see the point in raiding if you're not gonna use that gear for anything but raid parses
free one way faction change except for paladin/shaman in order to balance horde/alliance ratio servers reduced to 4k online max free transfers on realms with more than 4k average and a grow tendency to less populated servers realms shutting down if there's a several diminishing of population tendency and allowing rellocate their playerbase for free on selected realms only
I am part of a top 5 Horde server on Kirtonos and I can tell you that I know quite a few people outside my guild from dungeon runs and world pvp prior to the BG system. Then there is also the familiar auction house rivals who sell similar goods!
They should restrict to play a faction that takes 60+ % of a server, or strongly insist that players of such faction reroll the other side so that the balance can be roughly equal.
That means that there's a chance you won't be able to play on the same server AND faction as your friends. Quite a few people wanted to do this with people they know.
How about free faction change from stronger to smaller faction (starting at > 60% and stopping at 50% or after 1 week (if below 60%) so whole guilds can change)? You get either your class including equip on the other side (if it exists) or a class you choose with your level and all gold including the vendoring value of your stuff. This is not that nice for shaman / paladin but still a ok-ish way.
Tbh the biggest issue with "overpopulated" servers is that some resources like black lotus are on the same (about 1 hour) respawn timer as back in vanilla, but there is a way higher demand because there are more raids than back in vanilla.
Wow I feel so much better about my "small" server. I'm on Deviate Delight RPPVP server, and I know tons of people, we see eachother out in the world, I group with the same people, there servers know which Tanks are shit and loot Ninjas have been forced to publicly apologize in chat ti get groups again. My server feels like a real vanilla server, and were classified as "medium" pop.
My home too. It feels a little quiet on the horde side, but I cant complain. I play both factions and the community is mostly friendly and helpful. You know you've picked a nice server when an organiser of horde world pvp logs into an alliance character to say "thank you for tonight's fun!"
@@rustydalek9654 Yeah, that's awesome. Once, I saw on /lfg a message saying " A little note from the Horde: Thanks to X guild guys for letting a lone orc tag with them for the Ancient Egg. You guys rocks! ". This says a lot I guess. And it's true our server is more Alliance sided (65-35 I think) but there is never a day where I don't cross Horde groups in questing/farming zones and you guys look pretty happy as well!
Seaworth I guess you prefer dead flight masters and quest npcs. And being forced to Rez at a spirit healer. BRM is quiet now, but wait till BWL drops and you can’t zone in just like MC before bgs
I used to be a no changes guy. Now I'm open to some changes as Classic could never be the same as Vanilla and may need different solutions to different problems. I know changes can be a slippery slope, as we can all basically agree on what no changes, or just about no changes consists of. But I personally would totally be for Faction Changes already, but only when it's from the majority faction to the minority. I also wonder who would take that deal in the first place though. I think the faction balance needs to be heavily considered and worked on though.
@@Ravidist I don't think Classic is terrible or has been, especially from the start. But "no changes" can't happen without a time machine. Players have a different meta now, know the future to come, have better exterior tools, better addons and so many more differences, both big and small now. What we want is the essence of Vanilla. Classic can never be Vanilla.
@@mike0rr Private servers have been doing it for years largely true to form. I've seen it with my own eyes. It is possible, it is better, and it's always been the correct decision all along
I think people are just looking for shit to complain about.. Im on a pvp server and im still loving it, I kinda dig the overcrowdedness, smaller servers would make finding dungeon groups harder than it already is
I play on Stonespine EU and it’s a medium - high pop server and i frequently run into the same people. I think the majority of these problems occur on the full servers.
I love WoW classic and I understand the argument on no faction changes. At this point servers have very little identity, and faction imbalance is a big problem. I personally would be okay with a "Faction change" option, but with limitations. Do a faction change but you can't transfer servers for 180 days or change factions again for 180 days. Classic is a great game and I am team #nochanges but sometimes you just gotta do stuff for the health of the game, even if it makes people mad. If they love the game they will keep playing.
Kromcrush-US here, I feel apart of a community however it takes work from everyone on the server to make it feel that way. I couldn't imagine being apart of a different server community.
I'm on a large PvE server, and we know ours trolls and ninjas. We've got a sort of a community going, and people mostly (in my experience) know the one or two people with the rare enchants or recipes. Though in fairness, I'm horde side, and the server has a much larger alliance population.
I play on Benediction (US East) - Server community is really strong, and the factions were very balanced when phase 2 launched. Both Ally & Horde equally ganked each other in groups all over the lvl 50-60 zones, although horde had a greater day time presence and alliance a greater night time presence for sure. Being on a server though with a good community saw that community kind of become irrelevant with cross-realm BGs, however. Many people on Benediction crave the option to choose to fight with one another as we have a very active Benediction discord and people are amicable but very competitive cross-faction. The best thing to relate it to is like the top 2 football teams before the superbowl... they don't hate each other and don't flame each other, but by god do they want to kick each other's ass at the game. Community is a huge facet of classic WoW, and servers with balanced factions saw that community become wholly ignored and irrelevant when BGs released. Everyone craves the ability to group into AV's with friends and see other people on benediction we fought so many times in Wpvp and won/lost evenly to. Finally, people complained that without cross-realm BG's the queue times would be an hour long. Meanwhile, horde have 25-30 min queue times for AV and WSG with cross-realm BG's ... I'd rather wait 1 hour to play with Benediction only players than 30 minutes with people who AFK and farm mid the entire time to minmax honor, or people who are extremely toxic and flame you for doing something slightly suboptimal because they're on another server and their attitude has no ramifications. I mean you can report them... but it will just be a 36hr chat ban on someone you will very likely never see again. Meh. Battlegrounds may have saved the casul PvE people who rolled on a PvP server, whining that their faction are too pussy to take the fight to where the enemy lay... but it seriously ruined the community of a healthy PVP server. Canceling my subscription until AQ40 release because of it. At least then I'll get to play with and against friends again.
The server population is to blame for the state of PVP servers. I still get ganked every time I go into the world even in low level areas. PVP is fun sometimes, but not every time I try to fish, farm or run my friends alts through a dungeon.
Yes, communities are there, even then when I played in Faerlina months ago it was there, and in smaller servers I run constantly into the same people over and over again in spite of not being in my guild. And about the characters transfer, now that phase 2 is gone nobody is escaping PVP realms anymore.
Things are indeed a bit different on smaller servers. I made the swap from Gehennas to Earthshaker (EU) and in the beginning I regret my decision simply because it was harder to find people to do group content with. However as I speak with friends who stayed on Gehennas, I think I made a good decision moving. The server as a whole feels connected in a way, not really as much as in vanilla maybe but I think that will come with time. I know several people by character name that I enjoy playing with, some imfamous horde players that are KIS and one or two players who are PROVEN ninjas (sceenshots etc provided). My advice is: switch to a smaller server, just make sure that you check the faction balance ahead of time. I wish anyone who read this entire message a good day and happy new year.
10:00 yes, I feel I am, but I also play on a medium population server, Ten Storms. I keep seeing the same names, grouping up with familiar people. It’s kinda cool.
I experience more of a community in the Rated Battleground Community in retail than I did while playing Classic at high levels, it’s kind of reassuring, because on retail still in the Rated BG community, you know about 500 people, and the community is amazing, you really need to go over that, because I run into people I know every day, whether we are on the same team, or facing them.
Me I started video gaming purely in RPG's. I joined MMORPG not for the community but for the ever expanding huge worlds and the design being made for grouping making soloing a real challenge. Watched a lot of TH-cam videos telling me how hard soloing is and I've taken up the challenge by creating a guild of Alts with various professions so I can equip each character with a variety of tools. My goal for each character is to be viable not max. Community adds flavor but isn't all that vital to me.
I play on Arcanite Reaper US Horde and it's a nice small server that feels pretty comparable to what a medium pop server felt like back in the day. The community is pretty close knit, but I will say we lost a few horde guilds to the BWL release due to them not being able to field the numbers and they transferred as a result to try to recruit more people.
Idk man, I’m not sure if you just started making this video a long time ago and it just took a while to come out....but I am on Herod NA, and the sense of community on the server is INCREDIBLE as of now Jan 2. It has been so for a few weeks, even during the start of p2. Especially now though it’s great. You see the same ppl around. Same pvp crews, same farm ppl, same ppl buskin their professions. It’s great. Maybe we’re just the oddball, or your server is, but I repeat, the sense of community on Herod is amazing, and it is THE LARGEST NA server
I do feel the sens of community, I do remember people I came across during the leveling period, we still talk from time to time, and seeing how some of them are gearing up is nice to see. Even some from the opposite faction are recognizable to me, befriending them and avoiding eachother during the mass murders of phase 2 ~ Something I really didn't care about during my last session in retail to be frank.
I rerolled to a PvE server after life became intolerable for my priest healer. Paid transfers were way too late. They should've introduced BGs with phase 2. IMO, Blizzard shot themselves in the foot with how they dealt with phase 2. After 15 years it seems to me that Blizzard have learnt nothing.
One way faction transfers would fix server imbalance. Yes there would be a tricky spot with Paladins and Shamans gear wise but I think it could be handled with equivalents.

Still very happy i chose to play on a PvE server :) I'm a bit of a alt-aholic and haven't gotten a character to 60 yet. Highest one is 53 but have quite a few around 30. If I was on a PvP it would have been a bloody nightmare! P2 before BG's got released would have been unplayable in my state IMO.
Rolled horde Golemagg because most of our WRATH dudes rolled there on horde.. now they are all gone and im stuck with 30 min BG Queue's.. So rerolling alliance or quitting is my only option. i dont have time to wait 30 min for each game that sometimes ends in 6minutes.
I'm on flamelash on horde 😊 no issues with too much world pvp leveling because the alliance all ran away and I've ran into the same people out in the world that I met in dungeons. In fact, day before yesterday saw a guy I played with previously who was handing a quest in at grom gold and we made a dungeon group. Can't speak for endgame though
I found what ruined my experience was the launch of the game. I got in contact with 10 original raiders from my vanilla guild. After some discussion of which server would be the best for all of us to play on due to a lot of players from the Mal'ganis server rolling on that server we agreed upon the server to play on, minus a few that wanted to roll alliance instead of horde with alliance players they where in a guild with in retail. So the game goes live and the people who could get on earlier got into the server while people like me who get home later at night didn't get on till 2am at launch. Next day same issue, can't get on server over 15k people wait time, meanwhile the other people who get home earlier gets on. While waiting in que some people that decide to just play on another server, while others try and wait it out and see what it looks like a week from then. A week goes by and nothing changes, two people here stick to one server, two people there stick to another, by the end the 10 people that planned on rolling on the same server are all on different servers. GG blizzard because we all knew from vanilla that MC wasn't a losing contract and that there would be no Tier 3.
The core issue is they're still treating Classic like a very low effort side project and it shows; nearly every serious issue could have been easily avoided if they just put a tiny bit of thought into things. Unfortunately, most of these things have to be done proactively, once released each issue is harder/impossible to fix. And this team has been entirely reactive thus far, even for stuff a 5 year old could have predicted. It's a little sad to watch.
100% correct you are. server pops are a result of faction imbalance, our problem not blizzards. I feel 100% apart of my community on yojamba alliance but it takes effort
I honestly feel bad for Blizzard. From an IT stand point, it is really hard to plan out how many people are gonna be playing the game. They really do have to release and see how many are gonna play and constantly adjust accordingly. I work in IT and fully understand what they have done and why. Some of the decision may not have been best in our eyes but people need to think outside of there own feelings and take a business view. They have to be reactive no matter what you can't predict how big something will be. You scale reactively.
I do not recall faction balance being so out of wack in original release of the game. I think the faction transfer needs to be implemented sooner than later.
Biggest thing they fucked up on was no population balance. In vanilla and TBC you couldn't create a character on a server if it could cause a faction imbalance.
I would love to swap to a PvE Realm, but I have 2 irl friends on the surver I play now, and all of us have diffrent but good guilds... soo... yea this is hard :(
The server problem really is caused by streamers and TH-cam content creaters. Let's be honest they influenced slot of players server decision. And probably still influences there decision to stay and complain then transfer
I'm on a pretty close to 50/50 sever in regards to faction balance, and I certainty do feel that I'm a part of a community and I think that 3000 is the perfect amount of players for that. So glad I paid transferred from Heartseeker-US to Benediction-US.
So AV has been a bit of a joke past week as I'm running into what is clearly an organized group que. After waiting 30 min to get into AV. When I join the AV Ill see that me as horde have 30+ players and Allys having maybe 2 or 3. Then all at once 30+ allys will almost simultaneously join the BG. Most will be ranked 8 or higher with a good portion being 10 plus averaging something like rank 9+. While on my side averaging something like rank 3 to 4. They zerg down to the horde boss and win in less then 5 min. Both sides get about same amount of bonus honor. Being told that Allys are using discord , possible que mod, and rounding up people with higher ranks and pvp gear. Basically making a premade AV group. Something that is an option in game for WSG but not AV. So premade AV's are clearly not intended. So my questions are: Is this something that should be reported? If reported do you think Blizzard actually will do anything? Do blizzards every respond personally to reports? The whole ticket thing if you need help seems automated. Every response I've gotten in classic with some issues I've had in the past has basically felt copied pasted. Is this the kind of support we can expect in the future especially with how many people Blizzard have laid off? One of my favorite experiences was pvping back in vanilla. Less people treated as this big grind. Seems like more of the younger players way of playing is always hurry up and get it this over with. I need my new loots so I can stop playing. When I do manage to help "turtle" a battle chat fills with insults and rage at the fact that the match is going to take to long now. This has been the only negative experience I felt about classic. Yes world pvp in phase 2 was crazy hard to level anything but was as expected. Looking forward to AB coming out as that was one of my favorites. I like how the servers currently are because yes it feels more like a community. And people who are asshates tend to face some backlash at some point. So being a totally douchbag can have repercussions. I do have a grudge against a few opposing factions and we frequently try to kill each other when ever possible. Brin you shadow sloot Ill hunt you till the end of days.
I server transfered from a rppvp server over to a pve server and I’m having way more fun with the game! I’ve never been much of a pvp person in games or a rp and all my friends quit playing so I decided to do what’s best for my play style
It's the fact that rankers do AV at all costs and ignore other bgs. That sorta kills pvp. We weren't meant to get 4k honor every 10 to 15 minutes with instant ques.
@WillE You're wrong about the current world pvp, on Faerlina all the rankers have switched back to ganking lowbies and ungeared 60s for honor farming around BRM while they are waiting for their long queue times for BG's. Going to MC, LBRS, UBRS is the absolute worst experience on your own or small group as you will still have to corpse run from MV or TP.
I just want to mention..... For those of us PvE server players.... These decisions made for Classic are a dream come true. The MegaServers are exactly what PvE carebears want.... A server thats 24/7 always bustling with people running every dungeons and quest you can think of. Alongside a million guilds recruiting for endgame with ever varying raiding hours so EVERYONE can find a endgame raiding guild no matter when your free time is... Its been bliss. Phase 2 was invisible to us. And its coalesced into Pagle-PvE being the Alliance PvE megaserver and Mankrik being the Horde PvE Megaserver. For those who don't mind the PvE ruleset, I would suggest rolling an alt on one of these two, just to TEST it... I guarantee you will quickly find these to be your new home after a little bit of playtime.
Too few server options at the start results in groups and guilds planing their flags. Couple that with Blizzard's rather poor handling of ''dead servers'' in retail and it's little wonder why people massed together in a few popular choices, I mean why risk rolling the dice on an open server when if it doesn't pan out you're either stranded or stuck with a transfer bill through no fault of your own. People need the security, and there is safety in numbers.
My only issue is how that it's $25 per character - as someone with four level 60's, that's $100 just to transfer them. That's more than I've paid for my membership since launch. I know the agenda is obvious there, but they could at least had a discount or another option for character wide transfers to other servers.
i agree. charging 25$ to transfer a toon is fucking ludicrous. with that money i could either buy a full on game, or an extra month of game time and a microtransaction. if the price was 2 - a minimum 5$ then i would say that would be an agreeable price.
John Idol I work at home delivering and selling online, also an intern while at my 4th year at college. Please stop using those cliche stereotypes. Smh
I'm on a relatively balanced PvP server, the issue is the server cap is too high. If they kept closer to the 3k and maybe increased it to 4k Might be been fine by 6k people is too much for PvP server.
It is Blizzard’s fault. There are a lot of changes that don’t affect game play, but it’s clear a game designed for 3000 players isn’t going to be the same with 10,000 players. I never knew how large the servers were actually going to be and even said having a vanilla server sized layer doesn’t make any sense, because what if none of them leave the game and that server has 5 layers each of them with a population of a vanilla server. Blizzard never should have allowed many time the numbers of players on a server they did at launch. It wasn’t like that in vanilla. Also servers are virtualized so it shouldn’t make any difference how many servers they created initially. Combining servers would be a lot easier to do than moving players against their will off a specific server. I want to move to another server, but they are all too large.
you say that transfers will help the imbalance... how? people will just look at that pop screen and go to the server with their highest faction making it more dominant like it has is retail. then when AQ is released nobody will open the door because you need both factions to open it
I have always played rp servers, sometimes pvp sometimes normal. I had to make a choice early as when name reservations came out...I went with normal, though I did reserve some names on the pvprp server. Once game went live my choice to go normal became set in stone. Really glad that I went that way as I have avoided the gank fest of phase 2. I was quite surprised that there was only one rp server though. It was a high pop server with wait times like the others albeit less wait times to log. I totally agree that it doesn't feel like it did back in 2004. I made many friends back in the day from almost day one. Now almost 6 months in I am mostly playing solo and wondering why it is so different. I can see from the economy that there are way more people than the old days...that is for sure. At first I blamed the lack of any real social aspect in game to the abundance of the younger generation and their lack of social skills. I guess I still do. I am old compared to typical expected demographic and it really shows. there is no real social part of this game anymore. Server size is likely a part of it. Now that the six month paid cycle is coming to an end I am considering not renewing my sub. It is a big time sink and seems hard to justify since I cannot log in and be with new friends as I don't have any. The guilds I have joined are completely fractured into those raiding with the object of gearing (and therefore not participating with the still leveling members) and the members who lack the time or drive to become active raiders, the filthy casuals as we are called. I have seen zero evidence of guild cohesion or real identity and almost no real role play. I still enjoy the game per se, yet I am not having fun. Think I am going back to reading my books.
Sulfuras is a very tight knit pvp server. See the same people all the time, people spam ninja looters, people who steal mats, etc. Gotten tells from multiple people while guildess saying "hey, seen you since day 1, blah blah" more than once. I actually enjoy sulfuras and its also one of the few servers that has 50/50 faction. Or least close to it
Ofc its blizzards fault here in oce they had 1 pvp server now they have 3. 1 good size 1 great size and 1 that could be split in half and both be a good size. Not to mention raising the layer cap to lower ques made the world unplayable to quest
having played vanilla to wotlk on a pvp server, i now opted to play on a pve server to see what its like and i do have regrets kinda. i know world pvp can be quite annoying when corpse ganked by something 15+ levels higher than you ...and i was really annoyed at times back in the day about it..but i have to admit, levelling on a pve server is one of the most boring things you can do. the constant sense of danger and imminent threat is just not there and having an opposing factions player run past me while ignoring me or waving..still irritates me. if i wasnt already engaged in a really nice guild and an old friend at my side there, id reroll on a pvp server. playing on a pve server is not the wow i remember, hence there is no nostalgia feeling associated with it for me. kinda feels more like wow vanilla lite.
I wonder what did ppl in pve-servers do during P2 ...propably quitted the game 🤣 open world PvP is what is lacking in modern wow, sad that BG's killed that in classic too😞
I play on EU dreadmist. I totally feel in a community and ive Even been kicked from a guild and All kind of stuff. To get the feeling or the experience your talking about, you have to seach it yourself, that counts for classic and retail. But yeah, i totally see the same people around My server, I see My fellow guild memebers and the same guilds runing around. AV was rough, but blizzards is not to blame for the Meta that the community makes, they can only counter it somehow, but should they, when its classic? That the only important question.
A nice cheerful video to start the new year! Been away on holiday a bit so less on channel than usual, will be back to normal soon.

Hey mate! Good video! I play on gehennas aswell if you wanna play something sometime :)
Christopher Osborne same goes with Retail.

@Вест Ист cause it's supposed to be an insult? Look in the mirror there is your insult
@Вест Ист You sound like a sperg
you leveled on pvp servers for a decade because you had something to prove?
I’m going to start playing again. I love wow always and forever.
pretty obvious blizz just doesn't wanna pay AWS or whomever for more server/cpu time. it's mostly a greed-based position. however...
I sincerely believe, petty and ridiculous as it may seem, that some folks in the upper management at blizzard have been unable to let go of how poorly they misread the community's desire for classic ("you think you do, but you don't") and the subsequent egg on their faces -- and the fact that it's *still* more popular than 'retail' wow, which is itself a pretty major indictment of the last several years of development, management and spending on the game.
ultra derpus going to need that end game hearing aid for being so fucking tone deaf to your community
Hey WillE, ladies and gentlemen here.
I have been thinking about transferring to make honor grind easier, transfer to a 99% ally server to rank on. I figure the honor cap will be lower than the 1.3m grind on my server with 30 min que times
@@duanehean3364 that's not how that works
@@iceee420 how does it work then?
@@jespine6762 you compete with the people on your faction on your server for ranking.
Due to my realm's faction imbalance, world PVP turned into me hoping that group of horde or that skull over there didn't decide to make me waste another 20 min corpse running.(which they did 70% of the time)
And to cap it all off, I was a level 51 warrior when phase 2 hit, so I gave honor to the power-farming 60's, and sadly all my friends quit before phase 2 dropped. So the game is now rendered unplayable for me at this point, which is really disappointing. Despite that, great video WillE, happy new year!!
(note: I had played on multiple PVP private servers in the past, so THOUGHT id' have enough tolerance to endure all of the nonsense)
man u had just enough time to level, i myself was 2 weeks late into release and as a casual player cause of my job, made it to 60 long before phase 2... my cousin who is 14 leveled to 60 and he started when phase 2 began as an ally warrior on mostly horde server, so you should be able to do it too... >.>

Hey thats Grid
@@WillEmmo Hey what hud addon are you using also for your spells, xp bar, backpack location, and stuff? Would be cool if anyone knows.
Are you wheeze?
I think there’s a very loud minority in this game that won’t be happy with anything. 90% of people in wow don’t give a shit about pvp, we log on for raids and that’s about it. Nothing they do to pvp or realm pop is gonna change that cause the game is just kinda boring once hitting 60
For me I love PvP, questing etc is there just to give me xp and gold and that's about it. It's not rewarding it's just a grind but PvP is fun as it's not a AI computer.
Trueee most of my guild only logs in for raids now and I can't get a single person to join me for WSG :/ I don't see the point in raiding if you're not gonna use that gear for anything but raid parses
think they need faction change in game, even tho "no changes"
if they do that i go alliance on the spot xD
free one way faction change except for paladin/shaman in order to balance horde/alliance ratio
servers reduced to 4k online max
free transfers on realms with more than 4k average and a grow tendency to less populated servers
realms shutting down if there's a several diminishing of population tendency and allowing rellocate their playerbase for free on selected realms only
I am part of a top 5 Horde server on Kirtonos and I can tell you that I know quite a few people outside my guild from dungeon runs and world pvp prior to the BG system.
I'm on grobbulus and we definitely have a community
Is it possible now to transfer as Alliance to Horde? Or just within the same fraction?
Wow I feel so much better about my "small" server. I'm on Deviate Delight RPPVP server, and I know tons of people, we see eachother out in the world, I group with the same people, there servers know which Tanks are shit and loot Ninjas have been forced to publicly apologize in chat ti get groups again. My server feels like a real vanilla server, and were classified as "medium" pop.
Extreme faction imbalance, blizzards solution: paid server transfers. This is one of the massive list of problems gg blizzard well played.
Agreed
Fuck blizzard
But it was the players who caused the imbalance? If they would’ve had preemptive measures to stop these types of things, y’all would bitch about it to
dave the issue with perceived faction imbalanced is the fault of server populations being so high more than an actual faction imbalance.
Hydraxian Waterlords (EU-RP Server): Life is good there, community is real and game can be fully enjoyed - pvp & pve wise.

Change is what made Classic terrible from the start
@@Ravidist I don't think Classic is terrible or has been, especially from the start. But "no changes" can't happen without a time machine.

I play on Stonespine EU and it’s a medium - high pop server and i frequently run into the same people. I think the majority of these problems occur on the full servers.
Hey willie what are your thoughts on retail wpvp compared to classic wpvp now?
I love WoW classic and I understand the argument on no faction changes. At this point servers have very little identity, and faction imbalance is a big problem. I personally would be okay with a "Faction change" option, but with limitations. Do a faction change but you can't transfer servers for 180 days or change factions again for 180 days. Classic is a great game and I am team #nochanges but sometimes you just gotta do stuff for the health of the game, even if it makes people mad. If they love the game they will keep playing.
As always hitting the nail in the head correctly done so.
Happy 2020 Willie.
Sounds like Pagle
Liked for the HFP music! Such a gem and it gets no recognition :(
Yep! I do really enjoy the TBC soundtrack
I liked the part where he talked about classic
Yes, communities are there, even then when I played in Faerlina months ago it was there, and in smaller servers I run constantly into the same people over and over again in spite of not being in my guild. And about the characters transfer, now that phase 2 is gone nobody is escaping PVP realms anymore.
I rolled on Grobbulace as soon as classic launched, so watching other servers burn from the inside out seems sad, but I don't know that feel.
Same but incendius
worst rp server ever.
Daniel Wozniak I rolled on grob when I started but I just transfered to old blanchey to fit my play style
Nethergaurd keep players smash that like button
I do feel the sens of community, I do remember people I came across during the leveling period, we still talk from time to time, and seeing how some of them are gearing up is nice to see. Even some from the opposite faction are recognizable to me, befriending them and avoiding eachother during the mass murders of phase 2 ~
Something I really didn't care about during my last session in retail to be frank.
U made the right choice going in pve server.
Becouse in pvp servers, pvp will happen.
Can you transfer from RPPVP to PVP?
Great conversation and content thank you for all the hard work you put into this.
I'm on a 5k server. Phase 2 world pvp was not enjoyable in the long run, but now with BGs out, it's fantastic. I wouldn't want more or less.
One way faction transfers would fix server imbalance. Yes there would be a tricky spot with Paladins and Shamans gear wise but I think it could be handled with equivalents.

Groubbulus is the best server ever, well balanced, yea we have our issues but i love my community XD
Im on a high pop relm on EU and I know a few people to avoid but thats mainly becouse im keeping contacts in all the big guilds on the server

They have no intent for it to continue further on some kind of classic+, it's better dead than it competing against the main game.
This sounds like the real reason.
how the hell did you win an AV as alliance?
I'm on a pretty close to 50/50 sever in regards to faction balance, and I certainty do feel that I'm a part of a community and I think that 3000 is the perfect amount of players for that. So glad I paid transferred from Heartseeker-US to Benediction-US.
Were you horde or alliance?
well , it is old conent and the momentum is slowing down rapidly , pretty normal to me.
I think a lot of these people are just whiners. Since the release of battlegrounds I think things are great.
Agree. Although I think a 10 man premade should face a enemy 10 man premade
It's the fact that rankers do AV at all costs and ignore other bgs. That sorta kills pvp. We weren't meant to get 4k honor every 10 to 15 minutes with instant ques.
@@gorchcleave5393 I think they might fix that by giving us the original AV. Maybe not though, hard to say.
@@noneofyourbusiness7965 has their been talks of that officially? That would be a great call
@Dazza Egan No sources, I'm only giving my theory as to what might help, not trying to state what they will actually do.
Hi, friends. Btw where i can sell my wow classic char cz i have nevere used it again? Thx
I want to move to another server, but they are all too large.
you say that transfers will help the imbalance... how? people will just look at that pop screen and go to the server with their highest faction making it more dominant like it has is retail. then when AQ is released nobody will open the door because you need both factions to open it
Love your videos and honesty!
Mograine is doing great i'd say but i don't really recogonize too many players or guilds.
I quit playing classic tbh but I still enjoy watching your videos.
Jesus
I been looking around many places on the net
Trying to find out who wins more in battlegrounds
having played vanilla to wotlk on a pvp server, i now opted to play on a pve server to see what its like and i do have regrets kinda.
i know world pvp can be quite annoying when corpse ganked by something 15+ levels higher than you ...and i was really annoyed at times back in the day about it..but i have to admit, levelling on a pve server is one of the most boring things you can do.
the constant sense of danger and imminent threat is just not there and having an opposing factions player run past me while ignoring me or waving..still irritates me.
if i wasnt already engaged in a really nice guild and an old friend at my side there, id reroll on a pvp server.
playing on a pve server is not the wow i remember, hence there is no nostalgia feeling associated with it for me.
kinda feels more like wow vanilla lite.
I wonder what did ppl in pve-servers do during P2 ...propably quitted the game 🤣 open world PvP is what is lacking in modern wow, sad that BG's killed that in classic too😞
When's the mage video coming out?? :)
Rolled on a pvp server, upset that pvp happened
I play on EU dreadmist. I totally feel in a community and ive Even been kicked from a guild and All kind of stuff. To get the feeling or the experience your talking about, you have to seach it yourself, that counts for classic and retail. But yeah, i totally see the same people around My server, I see My fellow guild memebers and the same guilds runing around. AV was rough, but blizzards is not to blame for the Meta that the community makes, they can only counter it somehow, but should they, when its classic? That the only important question.
