I’ll point something interesting as you pointed out the fact about the catharsis part! Lara Fabian STRONGLY and believe FIRMLY in the Way of Living with the Catharsis! As she pointed out in an interview she believes that the only way to really heal from something or someone that or who hurts so damn & deeply much is to feel and live the pain fully, accepting what is happening to us and to just live with it and deal with it so we can heal and be happy to be able then after to pass to something else after way better for us! It is her MANTRA and way of life, she passed all her life leaving and applying that philosophy to her life! That is why at the end of the song you can see her laughing when she’s saying how she’s sick of all of it!

Lara embodied Serge Lama who wrote the lyrics based on his personal experience (he did get the girl in the end). (from a comment from another reactor's channel) Serge has stated that of all the singers that covered this song through the years; Lara is by far the best!

My favorite storyteller in song of all time. I have been singing since 1949 singing on a bi-lingual (Portuguese and English) radio show in SE Massachusetts and still continue to this day. Love how you appreciate her talent (and beauty).

Well done for getting through this one without tissues. I never could ! NOBODY does love & loss with the incredible nuance & sensitivity of Lara. She inhabits the story with every note - every breath - every gesture and rides that very fine line between overwhelming emotion & superb vocal control with enormous finesse. This is why professional singers call her performances 'Master Classes'.
In fact she didn't write this song. It was written by a male songwriter & friend who apparently was in despair about a long term love affair with a married lover. As you point out - Lara has been open with her audiences about her own relationship challenges & clearly was able to draw on her own experience to channel this directly and powerfully into this very moving performance.

Lara chante ce qu'un personne pleinement investie dans un amour à sens unique ressent quand elle est à bout d'un amour toxique. Maintenant on parle de "pervers narcisique", ils font en sortent de maintenir leur "victime" dans un état amoureuse pour mieux les détruire à petit feux jour après jour. Un peu comme Amy winehouse et Joe black (Amy en est morte).
Quand elle dit "ca va faire 2 ans... et tu t'en fou". C'est parce qu'il vient la voir quand il veut et la traite comme un objet conquit. De plus Lara exprime aussi la dépendance affective, notamment en parlant de sa mère peu aimante qui la laissait seule le soir. C'est souvent ces personnes qui tombe sur des hommes qui une fois conquises les considères comme du mobilier et partent à la chasse d'une autre.

Lara’s rendition is the best and will never be equaled.
But I would like to introduce you to a 4 male crossover harmony group callrd “ Forestella” from South Korea. When they performed their first song ( the Freddy Mercury classic“ Bohemian Rhapsody”) it catapulted them to international stardom and they now have millions of followers worldwide. They were all at one time solo performers. One has a very deep bass/baritone voice. Another, a high operatic voice, and the other two group members (who were also solo performers at one time) combine to render “je suis malade” a confluence of absolute total passion and performed live on stage in front of thousands of fans. I thought no one would ever come close to Lara’s soulful rendition. And no one vocalist will. But when you have 4 members and the best vocal harmony group in the world, well. ( all I can say is have your Kleenex handy)
Some of their other songs I recommend are Simon & Garfunkel classic “The Sound Of Silence”, Guardian “ Angel” that will lift your spirits and transport you to another world-especially during these troubled covid times.
And the hauntingly beautiful “ hijo de la luna”
But “ Le Suis” remains my all time favorite. I’ve watched it 5 times and each and every time it moves me to my depths.

Just a note, she didn’t write this song (Serge Lama did), and I don’t think the subject left completely, just comes and goes as he pleases and doesn’t treat her well.

In fact written by Serge Lama about his heartbreak when his woman left him and literally destroyed him (hence the whiskey reference). Great singers inhabit the characters they interpret. Whether it was Freddie Mercury with Somebody to Love and Borap or Dimash with SOS, legendary songs live on through legendary singers that know how to make them relatable universally. Her name is not pronounced like that. It is pronounced "Fay" "B" "Ann" Fabian is the Italian name from her Mothers side of the family. Which is common in the Latin cultures of Europe to take the Mothers name not the Fathers.
