I love Kiryu’s tone in the original recording. He sounds like he’s losing everything and everyone he ever loved every time he blinks. It makes more sense to me he would freak out trying to stop Nishiki from blowing himself up for repentance, because even a stoic man like Kiryu can only act tough for so long until he completely breaks.
You'd think Takaya Kuroda with 11 years between this and Kiwami of refining his role as Kiryu that he'd do a better job in the remake. Nah, he just sounds like Nishiki's beating him in a game of FIFA or something, here it sounds like he's genuinely about to watch his sworn brother fucking kill himself. No disrespect to Kuroda ofc, i just find it funny how he killed it more when he had far less experience with the Dragon.
@@soundwaves8619 To me, it sounds like Kuroda was overracting a bit in the Original. In Kiwami, his overall dialog is more nuanced... he's only angry or overly concerned when he has to be in Kiwami.
yes the voice sounded better for when he was telling nishiki to stop in YK1, but it doesn't mean it has to be the same in Kiwami just because he could destroy his vocal cords in one of his first voice acting roles doesn't mean he could/should do it again 11 years later
Am I the only one who thinks that Kiryu’s voice actor does a better job in the original Japanese version than Kiwami? Like, when Kiryu yells in Yakuza 1, he SCREAMS. In Kiwami, he just kinda yells. Like, “Oh no, my only friend who is now more fleshed out than before is going to blow himself up, and all I can do is scream. Aaaaah.”
@@onomichio3739 Man. If they re-release the Original 2 games on Modern consoles and PC. They should do some small changes. For Yakuza 2 all they need to change is the Names so they match to what they say. But for Yakuza 1? Well let us choose Between the English Dub and Japanese Dub but the Japanese Dub needs a whole new Sub. Just don't copy-paste the Kiwami 1 English Subtitles. Make it a little different. If we go a little more Extreme. 2 versions of Yakuza 1. Classic Version and what? Kiwami version? I dunno. But the Kiwami version would add features from Yakuza 2 which made the game's Combat, SOOOOO much better. But you can always have the Classic Combat if you want.

Of course. I'd instead clean up and reuse the old lines since it would have fit how Kiryu and the player felt as they saw Nishikiyama's passing
OK but it still means it's worse in kiwami
wish they remastered the old voice files and used it for kiryus scream so that Shinji and nishiki scenes were much better

also kiryu's VA career as a singer took off after yakuza 1 so he can't just roar like a lion anymore.
I also noticed this with Kiryu's roar when he sees Reina's corpse. In general he had a more convincing emotional range.
I thought he just overacted in the original.
@@Pan_Z I prefer The Kiwami Roar there honestly. But the NISHIKI! I can agree.

They didn't made his model even in Kiwami. Which is weird.
Nah, akiyama had a cap on and was asleep on the floor so it wasn't him.
This is WAY better than the English dub.
Too bad the Subtitles Aren't a bit more better. But I think that he just used the English Dub footage. And it's fine because no lip sink for English.
