The "The Bends" drum beat DOES sound so similar to High and Dry! I thought the same thing

High and Dry beat starts more subdued, Bends is recognizable because it starts very heavy and pounding

I agree, keeping the tambo out of No surprises felt a little misleading. but I guess they didn't have much choice with their track-isolation software
It's interesting to hear the isolated drums and then the whole arrangement. Some tracks are really drum-forward, and some are not. A fun challenge. I love Radiohead, but I wouldn't do so well.

@@snuggilyd Those 3 are the top 3 in some order. Amnesiac, Kid A, and AMSP are 4-6 in some order. And Pablo Honey, The Bends, and TKOL are 7-9 in some order.

Hail to the Thief is so strange, it's a wicked album though. It's quite musical while also being just oddly dark and brash in places. Very interesting era. There There is such a solid song that just stays close to my heart.

Polyethylene - that's a bit obscure. That's not on my version of the album. I could see the demoralisation happen over the first 10. Much like my own. Started off well, was so sure about High and Dry and then downhill from there.

That part where you guessed "High and Dry" was SPOT ON. I'm still convinced you were right (at least up to the point where you guessed [a tad early]) -- high and dry has that EXACT drum line, matching the first 3 or 4 seconds of the clip.

I got "Subterranean Homesick Alien" within the first second. It's so *definitively OK computer* era Radiohead, and soooo unique and perfect to that song's feeling.

After listening through Part 1 of this video, I'm convinced that I own too much music and that I only hear it. When I'm listening, I primarily pay attention to only the guitar, and not the entirety of the song like @iximusic appears to do.

super fun! 2+2=5 come on its literally the beginning of the song and there's only drums in that part and it's also the very beginning of the album!😝🥰. You should check back in to HTTH because it's literally their best album fight me! Also this maybe be an unpopular opinion but I dont think Thom and Johnny really loved Phils drumming bc everything after the bends adds things like drum machines and other band members playing drums etc, even 2 drummers on KOL. Also those are the hardest ones to get bc they're pretty generic. sorry phil!

I would be terrible at this game lol. Truthfully tho...drums are a tonal instrument sometimes, and one can easily hear the nuances of overarching theme and structures when hearing the source code of drums. Doubly so if a drummer is playing extra tone on purpose.
If I take a coffee can and start playing Aphex Twin - Flim...almost anyone who knows that song is going to guess the tune.

The speed with which you recognized the songs was quite impressive. The word “superfan” popped into my head. I probably should have waited but when I was a cartoon super fan kid, I got a tattoo of a Smurf riding on the back of a my little pony under a rainbow.
