    IT WORKS!!! While on the simulator today, I decided to try straightening my right leg on my backswing and extend as Bryson describes here. I had low expectations and didn’t intend to try it more than 4-5 swings. I immediately went to 104mph club head speed from typical bests of 101mph. Within 5 swings 106. After an hour of hitting nothing but driver, I had hit 107mph a number of times and once over 108. Ball speed went from 150 absolute best to 155 or so typical if a decent strike. Best 158mph. Night, meet day!

    • @ronsmith32
      @ronsmith32 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Update - still using this, but I've backslid a bit. My best yesterday was (once) 107mpg clubhead speed, but mostly 104 or 105mph. Still better than before, but no chance of setting a new PB. Perhaps it was just a 'slow' day?

      @@ronsmith32 so true. putting requires by far the least attention. proof is you'll ofttimes see newbies draining all kinds of putts but you never see them lucking into 300+yd drives or hitting crisp pure iron shots. drive for show putt for dough is outdated.

    He swings like every gifted 9 and 10 year old I have ever coached! But he does not jump off the ground. But he does spin on left heal. Bryson is making me rethink what I should be changing and not changing in junior golfers' swings as they grow.

    The way Bryson and Martin Borgmeier approach the golf swing really appeals to me. I'm new to golf but consider myself an athletic guy. I know a few other guys that also got into golf maybe 1-2 years ago but they have a very old-school, non-athletic approach. Theyre always telling me things like slow down your swing, grip the club lightly, stop adding power, etc. I'm good bro, I want 300+ yard drives not 200+!

    Most instructors teach width in the swing and extending the the rear arm to keep the forward arm straight. Wide arc they say. I can see his rear arm flexing in the downswing even though the instructor is saying they are stretching up at 9:44. Seems conflicting. The flexed rear arm seems to be working for Bryson.

    Love the insights! Has anyone tried the Reflex convex swing by Cheong Sai Fah? Also very scientific and insane clubbed speed generated by coiling against the legs( feet are turned more towards the target than usual to allow the fast hip rotation) and rotating fast through like Gary Player when he walked through shots

    Should’ve come with some more updated side-by-side of his swing. Those were a bit older before he got to shifting on the backswing. Glad more people are thinking of the Golf swing as an athletic motion. Because it’s so dynamic, it can eliminate swing thoughts. Just setup turn, ,and turn. With a bit of practice, it’s like on a train track.

    Seems to match the John Tattersall concepts rather than Terry Rowles front post concept. One suggest more down and up vs more front post or left side anchor? Or is it a more subtle sameness? Tattersall said in your Swing series too much mass forward restricts pelvis rotation?

      Pretty much. Unless you're a complete beginner or have very obvious swing flaws, if the pro doesn't have tech to assist you break down your swing, find a new pro.
      I did a couple lessons with a pro. Aside from a launch monitor, he had the pressure mat like Bryson is using here, as well as wrist sensors. We found a fault in my backswing with how I'm not transferring my weight back to load up, and also adjusted my wrists for more Ulnar deviation (which Bryson talks briefly about in this video). he also had the ability to slow-mo my swing, and show a comparison of the before and after and how much better it was looking.
      Best part - not once did the pro suggest I slow down. I'm a pretty fast swinger, just wild. he embraced that part of my swing, while adjusting things which were flawed. Now I swing faster, and more consistently.
      If I were to go to a lesson and the pro told me to slow my backswing, swing 75%, keep my head down, (other golf cliche here), I'd walk out.

    • @ikigai47
      @ikigai47 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's why I refuse lessons. So few are great at teaching, or even teach the right things. Even Bryson here isn't really explaining certain things he does accurately. For instance he talks about really moving his head off the line to load up and generate power but you can see slow-motioning his on course swing he doesn't really do that much. Head is basically still. He should be pointing out it's more a feeling than what he physically does. Lots of teachers do that because explaining and performing are two different things

    Why does nobody ever talk about how much of a role raw strength plays in the equation? DeChambeau is so strong that the driver is like a toothpick in his hands - much the way it was with Barry Bonds or Mark McGuire with the baseball bat. All of these guys also have superhuman hand-eye coordination, but if you want to hit the ball as far as Bryson, you have to be strong as fuck.

    Golf is now in a very unique spot in history, The Technology exists to have Simulated Golf courses in every school in America. The School just needs a 12 x 12 x 12 room and a GCQuad, or a Trackman or any of the other half dozen golf simulators that are on the market now, that are getting cheaper and better every year.
    I can only imagine how that would grow the game of golf… it could be a major advantage for mining Golf Talent, from elementary school all the way up to high school and even at the college level. It would be wonderful if we had a collaboration between the PGA and other Golf Lovers to help create and fund the initiative to get golf in every school district or .... Every School. We have the technology to do this now.

      And I love golf. This comment just has me scratching my head a little. Why do we need or want golf simulators in school? So like 4 kids can play 9 holes during lunch? It's not like a bunch of people can use 1 at the same time. Our schools are producing morons. We should address that issue first...then address lack of golf simulators.
