Have you ever try a song in spanish? I am from Puerto Rico and I've been in love with Irish culture and music! Would LOVE to hear a song in spanish with your voice and talent!
My family just buried my grandfather yesterday. He passed away on the 8th, and he was 91. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of music that is usually played at funerals, and it has helped. This song came out at the perfect time and it is wonderful. Thank you so much. God bless
O7 sorry for your loss friend . I still feel sad when I think of my grandmother who passed 3.5 years ago so just hang in there it slowly hurt less but you sadly will always have that hole when you loose someone close to you.
Just got word that my sister passed this morning-- This song brought even more tears to my eyes--- a song that I needed, and I'm thankful it came up on my You-Tube feed at this moment--it has helped..
Being Scottish, I've grew up with Auld Lang Syne being sung every Christmas and New Year celebration - but I think this is the first time I've heard it sang in the Irish language, even more so beautifuly and with such emotion I felt the impact of every word. Thank you Colm for this version. An absolute stunner. 🏴
Colm in a suit gives his catchphrase "Stay handsome" a whole new meaning 😅 That is a wonderful version of this song. As it is a traditional I've always asked myself if there wasn't a Scottish or Irish version. Thank you and merry christmas!
The version know today is really close to the original Scots version. The poem was written by the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns in the Scots language. Reading the original version is very close to what most English speakers sing today. The Irish version of this was very beautiful.
As the other person mentioned, it was written in Scots by Rabbie Burns. There wasn't a Gaidhlig version as the language was only really kept alive in the Highlands at the time Burns wrote his version of the song (then the clearances happened and capitalism destroyed the Highland culture and nearly made Gaidhlig extinct). I've always wanted to hear this in either Scottish or Irish, and I'm so glad that Colm did this. Tapadh leat à Alba, Colm! Gàidhlig gu bràth!

Ó Mhumhain go Gaillimh ‘s ar aghaidh ó Thuaidh agus ‘fud fad Chúige Laighean Beidh glór ón Daingean uasal libh ar oíche Auld Lang Syne. Ar oíche Auld Lang Syne seo muid, ar oíche Auld Lang Syne Ag canadh amach le bród anocht ar oíche Auld Lang Syne. Ar oíche Auld Lang Syne seo muid, ar oíche Auld Lang Syne Ag canadh amach le bród anocht ar oíche Auld Lang Syne. I'm sorry if it's messed up I did my best but I don't speak the language so I can't tell if it actually matches up with what he said.
The best things you do Colm is when you find a song that has more poetry in it than the normal performances bring out. Like Angela Lansbury you're an intelligent singer who reveals the meanings of what you sing. So find songs that have never had their poetry revealed before and blow our collective minds.
THANK YOU for finally fulfilling my request from last year! When asking for an Irish version of Auld Lang Sine I wasn't expecting a literal Irish version, more like a pub-version, but holy moly, this sounds beautiful!
In any language, this song always brings a tear to my old eyes. Thank you for this Colm. Its the time of year to rejoice in those we have, and to celebrate the memory of those who have gone.
Absolutely stunning rendition, brother. The instrumentation was gorgeous and I love how even sung in a tongue I don't understand the emotion and meaning of the song transcends language. Got me tearing up and feeling hopeful for the new year. Bravo, mate.
In 2023, my wife and I suffered two miscarriages, I had a serious injury, and my grandfather passed away. On New Year’s Eve 2023, my wife and I blasted this song as the clock struck midnight. We celebrated the end of a brutal year. Thank you, this song will always hold a special place for us
My Nana passed away a week ago. But I know she will get to see her husband and my oldest sister. She was from Newfoundland and I think she would appreciate this.
😭 I don't know why I was expecting the more lively rendition my family used to sing sort of in a celebratory manner... but this is SOULFUL & BEAUTIFUL!!! Made me legitimately cry because music is the universal language that transcends language and speaks straight to the soul! ❤
I dont always Comment on anything really... But this deserves everything and more. The amount of talent and feeling in this is incredible. Colm, you are amazing. I cant stop listening... and the scream at the end. I just... Words cant describe. Perfect job. and Thank you!
Your Love - the outfield Ever since you did don't stop believing, my Irish heart has longed to hear your handsome rendition of this song. 🤘You are the man brother! Keep serenading us, the world needs you!
This was a very great song. Every song is a great song from you. Love the suit as well. We will always support you Colm. Thank you for the amazing songs. Keep up the great work.
I haven't watched a Colm video in a while, and it took me half the song to figure out what was "off"...he's wearing a suit instead of a sweater! 😅 Looking good! And a beautiful rendition of a wonderful song, as always.
This is the first time I have come across your channel, what a voice. You could lead men to battle, you have an amazing instrument. I Love real men's voices full of power and beauty I listen to a lot of bass singers and you have for me put them all to shame, there is something in your voice that is just heraldic. I wish you the best of life and a great career.
nothing short of absolutely lovely, mate 🧡 your passion for your craft reflects so clearly in the emotion your vocals carry, and the way that you continue to try new styles and venture out, and we love to see it all.
Cheers, mate! Singing softer lately is easily the most difficult thing I've tried, mostly from the amount of breath control. Thanks for listening and for the kind words!
I've been following your work for a long time. Today is my birthday, and I was glad to see a cover from you. It's like getting a gift. Thank you very much. You are the best. (Sorry, I'm bad at English)
Hey Colm! This video is beautiful. And I loved the piece at the end where you went into a vocal fry. Idea for next year: if you both are up to it - I would love to see you and your wife singing together again/more.
It's funny seeing songs from Scotland mixed into the Playlist for Irish songs, not complaining seeing how both are related to each other in some way or form
You’re range is an inspiration to strive for. Here in the colonies (Coastal Maine) we still desire, nah require a certain grasp on heritage. It seems more fleeting and unattainable, which makes your channel all the more valuable. May you be blessed and preserved for that which will come. Hoist the colors high
Damn allergies. Damn handsome man. Damn incredible voice. Something in me eye. 😭 Merry Christmas, Colm. You always manage to absolutely slay my favorite songs. Wishing you the best 2024 has to offer.
Liked the song and added it to my spotify in the first 30 seconds of listening to it. its that good. You're the best Colm. Acording to spotify wrapped, I'm one of your top .5% listeners. Over 2023 I listened to 1,373 minuets of your music. Thanks so much for an amazing year of music! your one of my top favorite artists. Keep up the amazing work :)!
You’re absolutely incredible Colm! Thank you for all the music you have made and all the joy you have brought me this year. Your talent and passion is so appreciated. Happy holidays! ❤
the Christmas season has always been one of melancholy for me. lost a lot of friends and loved ones during this time of year, so its often a time of remembrance and longing for me. this rendition give those feelings voice. thank you, so so much.
There were twelve of us when the last snow fell. We felt fear, but the bravery of those around us filled our hearts with courage and hope. We made our stand with friends and strangers. Though none remember us and the snow has returned to the winter sky, the spring flowers and the autumn winds wear our battle colors and sing the ballads of our victory. We stood for them who play now in the glistening white that blankets the world. Our memory for all their tomorrows.
This was absolutely beautiful. I never thought I’d hear a traditional Christmas hymn and then a song often attributed with the end of the year in native Irish. Stay handsome, Colm.
Ich mag deine Stimme. Mach mehr auf irisch. Wünsche dir und deiner Familie besinnliche Weihnachten und ein frohes neues Jahr.. Liebe Grüße aus Darmstadt in Deutschland❤
Colm, you've brought so much joy and beauty to me during a very dark year. Thank you for all the magnificent songs. You're a star if there ever was one!
This has to be one of my favorite renditions of yours yet! The only thing I would have liked is a little pause at 3:00. That high note was just beautiful and emotional. I would have liked a short rest for just a single measure, so I could let it ring just a little bit longer, so I could savor that note. Besides that, this is just perfect! Outstanding work, Colm!
Hi Colm, your voice and music is inspiring and powerful. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world. I wish you every happiness the world has to offer. 3:25
You sir are just amazing to listen to no matter what you sing. Wishing you all the best for a happy and healthy new year. Whatever you choose to sing I for one will be more than happy to listen to! ❤

Where I can find Scottish versions of this song..?
@@samotnosciczas the one I loved best was Dougie MacLean's version - very soft spoken Scootish words sang. You can find on TH-cam pretty easy. 👍

I agree, definitely.
