- It's been our honor and privilege to host living legend Asha Bhosle at the Google headquarters for a fireside chat. Ashaji shares her thoughts on the intersection of technology and music, her recent success as restauranteur, landmark experiences collaborating with Western and Indian artists and her upcoming Farewell Tour in the US. She's joined by her multi-talented granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, as they discuss the evolution of music. Join us to sing along!

Ashatai is as young as her granddaughter by her voice, nature & heart. She's a blessed human being. She's female version of Gandharv..! Vidushi in Vocal singing, she can sing anything, anywhere. I have seen many young artist asking for scale before singing or depends on some Tanpura, but Ashatai in other side, even for such a toughest song like Jivalaga, its first note also she picked up very easily & without depending on anything. This shows her discipline towards her music. We should develope our own Swar within ourselves like Ashatai. She's d only & only who evolved Indian classical music into Film songs & indirectly taught us the essence of our own Bharatiya Shastriya Sangeet. Someone complemented her as Sakshat Saraswati, which is very true when it comes to her Passion & dedication towards her Musical journey. With due respect to her talent , I feel she should have mentioned O P Nayyar and Sudhir Phadake's ( babuji ) names, who shaped her career and as a co singer she should have mentioned Rafi Sahab's name . We all know how great he was and she has sung the max number of songs with him !!

Exceptional ! Lata Mangeshkar has a divine voice, but comes across as a unidirectional talent. Whereas, Asha Bhosle seems far more multi-faceted person besides being an all time great singer. Very alert, spontaneous,open, simple, trusting & honest woman she is ! The difference could obviously be because of the nature part, but other than that, Asha Bhosle made some brave, extraordinary decisions in her life, paid heavy price for each one of them and that seems to have made her what she is today.

With all due respect to Ashaji, in my community in India girls are precious and as kid if ever hurt my sisters or other girls , I was straight away disciplined by my elders. When I left home to go away for studies, I was instructed by my elders to always look at girls with respect no matter where they come from. We need to correct negative narrative and talk about good examples in Indian culture, otherwise new generation grow up in ignorance and distorted cognitive bias that we have nothing respectful in bharatiya sanskriti. I think all the bad examples stuck to us after invaders to came to India and molested our generations. SARASWATI too is Indian concept.
