- One of our goals in grappling is to be efficient when dealing with our opponents- from the start to finish. This means we need to work on achieving more while doing less so that we can conserve as much energy while making our opponents expend the most. This is one of the great benefits of making our opponents carry our weight.
In this video, we will go over the leg riding edition of making our opponents carry our weight. After watching this video, you will know how to make our opponent's uncomfortable, exhausted, and completely stuck using diagonal points of control while fatiguing them out. Mastering the leg riding and shin pinning will help limit your opponent's movements, force bad reactions out of them, and easily set up submissions
In this video, we break down:
✅ How leg pinning disrupts your opponent’s guard and limits their escapes
✅ The best shin pin variations for pressure passing and control
✅ How to make your opponent carry your weight while you stay relaxed
If you want to develop a heavy, suffocating top game, this is a must-watch.
NOTE: Excerpts of this video came from Craig Jone’s Power Ride Instructional which I highly recommend. A lot of these principles are rooted in other martial arts like Wrestling, CACC, and Shoot Wrestling / Shooto. This isnt to spark a debate between which grappling arts are better but to bring a holistic approach and improve our game as a whole - no matter what principle and from where.

Power Ride dvd was a game changer for me. Probably the best one I ever purchased
First comment ever on TH-cam and man, your stuff is great, thanks for a great breakdown
Always fun to watch a lot of bjj guys learn basic wrestling riding and look at it like 😮
also always fun to watch alot of wrestling guys learn basic submission and look at it like, "how the fuck did he get me"
@@daze8951 yeah they learn it in a few months depending on iq lvl while bjj guys are in a dire deficit in control points that can take up years to implement into their game
while the gurus dry your wallet dry with their seminars and dvd's
i seen a few guys selling basic handfighting for 100$+ what is day1 in wrestling...
bjj/grappling coaching is a disaster
Cool
Love it !
Interesting to point out that the round by round, boxing style score system of CJI actually promotes this, now that sinking in hooks and even guard passing in general aren’t requisites to display control of an opponent. 😊
Good
I just like how basic ass wrestling blows BJJ peoples minds and theyll spend hundreds of dollars to learn stuff they could've gotten for free in junior high school
Hahaha true
How else am I gonna get a leg up on Chris from Accounting, 40, father of four. 😂
I think all us adults paying hundreds on BJJ videos today all regret not doing wrestling in jr hs and we’re all about to send our children to wrestling club 😅
not everyone has wrestling in school, there are other countries
