Hey everyone! I'm actor (and gamer) Jeff Leach and I voice the character of Simon 'Ghost' Riley in COD:MW (2019). I just wanted to say thank you for all of the supportive messages and comments on this video. I know some of you loved Ghost's old incarnation and I completely understand why. Not only is Craig Fairbrass (the original VA form the first franchise) a wonderfully talented actor but the previous games were an asbolute treat to play through. However, art is open to interpretation, modernization and the new story that Infinity Ward is exploring in this new MW game has me on the edge of my seat. If you haven't yet played the Campaign mode... please do. It's harrowing, intense, beautiful to behold, well scripted and incredibly well acted by the core actors who brought the story to life. As for my version of Ghost, I wanted to make sure I brought a slice of my own personality to the role, my own unique energy to the voice acting and captured more of what I consider to be the 'broken' psychology that must be rooted deep within this military man who identifies as Death incarnate. There's a lot going on behind that mask and I hope that Ghost's story might feature in future seasons or even games (NB: This is NO way any kind of confirmation that will happen, merely one very happy actor's selfish desire to keep working) and if it does, I am excited to explore it further with all of you! For those who love exploring the realm of voice acting in video games and care to understand more about the choices I made I'd like to share the following. For this role I wanted to capture two main elements. Firstly a man who has literally (aesthetically) shut his own humanity off from the world to get the job done. He normally works alone, trusts barely anyone except Price and has dedicated himself and his existence to the merciless slaughter of evil. He meets violence with violence, and yet he maintains a considered understanding of the most effective ways to get the job done, given his extensive military experience. Obviously, as you now all know, these lines have been pulled directly from Warzone. When delivering shouted or high energy tactical commands it's often hard to show the sensitivities behind the mask. In a conflict situation, Ghost is no longer Simon Riley. The humanity most people wear publicly is compartmentalized by Ghost and he fully inhabits the character of a dead-man-walking. No time for human emotion, no desire to share his secrets, no desire to learn yours. He wants you to be where you need to be, to take him closer to the kill he has tasked with. The last thing you'll see is the face of Death stood over you as the last gasp of life leaves your body and as the player I wanted you to believe that this man is here to do one job and one job alone. The second thing I wanted you to feel was that whatever happened to Simon in his past that led to him removing himself from the grid, masking his face, diluting his own humanity and causing him to become this inhuman icon... REALLY tainted his existence with rage. He takes pleasure in these kills, some unknown force is paying for what happened to Simon with every finisher he exacts or double tap to the skull he dishes out. He's broken, so understandably it feels right to him to enjoy the art of breaking others. As time goes on however, who knows how much we'll get to see of 'Simon' as things progress. You did an excellent job of voicing Ghost and in my opinion this voice sounds much better and more badass than the older ghost in MW2, this ghost sounds more reckless and intimidating yet tactical and exacting. Allow me to express my thoughts upon your work and just to say ,in a sentence, that I am beyond amazed by your choice of creating THAT Simon “Ghost” Riley. Everything about him is pretty much perfect, but his voice is flawless. The aggression in his voice is spot on, and your choice of implementing a part of your own personality into the character is a bold and yet an amazing idea for this character. I know that nothing is certain as concerning the future of the modern warfare timeline, since BO Cold War is going to be the next installment, but I prey that Activision and Infinity Ward will show us what’s next for Ghost and Price. Edward Kenway Soft Reboot = Same Timeline as original but is so far separated that it can be taken as a standalone entry Hard Reboot = Same Characters and similar setting that takes place in an alternate timeline where the originals never happened. For example, a character who died is not dead (at least not in the same way) in the hard reboot, but still might not show up, or died of other means off camera. I know what a reboot is I just said Reboot MW2 to differentiate it from The original 2009 MW2 as when IWs next game comes out, it will either be a new sub ip, or most likely a sequel to MW 2019

His voice lines are hinting to a battle royal mode. “Large caliber rounds here, medium caliber rounds, shotgun rounds, small caliber rounds here, optic here, attachment here.” It’s just there for everyone to hear and yet I think no one realizes it. And I doubt you’d find an optic or a specific caliber round in a tdm game.

@@jfarrera206 In any case, there is a battle royale that's been leaked, and the season 2 opening cutscene pretty much shows exactly that. I think it's more likely that those voice lines for ammo are for battle royale.

Devs make voice actors record lines for certain game modes they might or might not drop in the future while they’re there so they can just easily add said lines into the game instead of having to call in the VA again to record them. Less time consuming and probably saves money.

Gotta say I think I may prefer THIS ghost voice because he actually sounds like wants to rip someones throat out and shove a missile down it. Not only is his redesigned mask more intimidating but he now has a voice to go with it. Like a Manchester Batman. I absolutely love the overly aggressive voice and accent. It’s such an upgrade from the original one. I mean the original one is amazing too and iconic but this new one is just delicious.

This to me shows how ghost used to have a short fuse and had a bit of an anger issue but over the years (the original mw) he became more calm and acquainted to the way he did things

I really really love having ghost as a MP operative but part of me wishes that IW waited until MW2 reboot to properly reintroduce him maybe as the character you play as in the first mission where you didn’t realize you were the legend until the end of the mission, rather than a MP character where you can now instantly recognize his new voice. Still love that he’s back tho

Devs make voice actors record lines for certain game modes they might or might not drop in the future while they’re there so they can just easily add said lines into the game instead of having to call in the VA again to record them. Less time consuming and probably saves money.

I really really love having ghost as a MP operative but part of me wishes that IW waited until MW2 reboot to properly reintroduce him maybe as the character you play as in the first mission where you didn’t realize you were the legend until the end of the mission, rather than a MP character where you can now instantly recognize his new voice. Still love that he’s back tho
