"how is this mostly positive?" because people are not looking for a good game but for a cheap ghost house experience. just LOOK at, for example, Harshly criticals livestreams. He played some of the worst "horror games" imaginable yet most of them are either "positive" or "mixed". People are easy to convince that being shocked by a jump scare here and there, with loud music and so on, is "totally a good horror experience guys!" those suckers NEVER experienced the dread of Silent hill 2-3. They never had those moments in "eternal nightmare" where they actually didnt WANT to go down those stairs. They never had a real horror experience. The problem is: they dont WANT to! they are not really "horror fans" that want to be scared! they want to be excited by jump scares and that is the reason they are so easily enticed by this shit! They do half the work because they WANT to be scared by a monster going "HOOGABOOGA!!!". meanwhile, the real horror fans, that actually want to be made uncomfortable, that like the feeling of being nervous and simply speechless at the dread they feel. Those are rare! And games made for those people do not attract the mainstream because its too "extreme" and not "fun" anymore for them. So if they see a satyr running towards them in the shadows, they freak out! because people like that rarely even played stuff like DOOM or Call of cthulhu. Sp they never get used to the small things and instead think thats the "pinnacle of terror!" the fact that this thing is also using creatures from an normally underused mythology is another draw for the "normies" so there you get another reason why people sensationalize this game. Its a shame too... just imagine what you could do with Trolls that run after you in the forest and try to eat you! Or a bunch of Evil gnomes in a house you need to spend the night in! Those fuckers would fuck your shit UP! but all that was again replaced by generic jumpscare 1 and 2.... sigh. BTW mack. your steam review isnt there xD

During the demo they originally had when I supported this game on kickstarter the voice acting was amazing and sounded real professional. When it finally was released I could not believe they changed voice actors and a lot of other things that worked in their favor during the demo. In a game where story telling and the characters dialog is so important they really screwed up on that :( The demo was a great experience, the end result..well....

I'm a bit disappointed at your feelings. I streamed this game and had a blast. It was extremely atmospheric and the creatures and stories were very fresh and interesting to me. The voice acting was abysmal, but I really enjoyed the notes and the overall story. The game looked very nice and performed much better than I would have expected. It didn't look AMAZING, but I found myself impressed with the textures more often than not. Anyway, a shame it gets a thumbs down IMO, but I can see where you're coming from for a lot of this. I think it would be worth a buy for people looking specifically for an atmospheric walking simulator to be immersed in for a few hours. It was worth the play personally. Cheers.
