I wholeheartedly agree. That's how you do a fly-by video. The inboard sounds great but they swill fuel like you have a hole in the tank. Outboards don't sound sexy at all, but they sure sip the gas. ;)

Well, I'm comparing the MerCruiser 260 in my SeaRay with a 100gal tank to the Johnson 115 on my Glastron with a 15gal tank. Like going from my Lincoln Continental to my Fiat X1/9. Big comfy gas guzzler to small, nimble sports machine. :)
Hello, first, I think your engine have not the right camshaft, marine engine need a lot of torque, is not same like car or truck. Normally max horses power is around 5000/5500 rpm. Second, depending model of propeller, 23 pitch with 1.50 gear ratio will be the best if your engine have around or more 400 horses power. My set-up was Laser II propeller 21 pitch with 1.32 gear ratio at 5400 rpm.

What prop pitch/setup are u running? Im running a 24pitch on a 383 in same boat. 4200 and 62mph.

Hello, don't change gear ratio for 1.47 because your engine will running less than 4000 if you do that. Try other propeller 21 or 22 pitch before.
