Yes the trials will be do or die because almost every best gymnast in the country will be eyeing that 5 person spot😅honestly i can't wait for the showdown
If Chellsie Memmel can come back to show that it can be done, so can Gabby. Im here for gymnasts doing the sport they love into adulthood as long as they are in good health. Looking forward to seeing our gold medalist back in action!
I'm looking forward to Gabby's comeback as much as I am pretty much anything else in 2024. Despite all her success, she's still wildly underrated by some folks in the gymnastics community. Hoping she gets another big moment to shine.
This completely blows out of the water the old arguments given for why women quit gymnastics when they hit puberty. "Their bodies change too much!" "They start gaining weight!" "Puberty ruins them!" And it turns out that, as we've seen from Simone Biles and Oksana Chusovitina, you can indeed be a brilliant female gymnast and an actual ADULT. Puberty never ruined them as athletes. It just ruined them in the eyes of creeps like Larry Nassar and the rest of the monsters who threw them on the scrap heap the minute they grew up to get access to fresh meat. I cannot wait to see how many other brilliant women come back, inspired by Biles and Chusovitina, and show the world the greatness they still have within them.
Honestly? If she can hit those handstands on bars and have enough difficulty it’s going to be epic! ❤ her handstands I these videos are amazing. Could you imagine a TF lineup on bars of Gabby, Suni and Shilese? ❤ Edited to add: I really love how her UB routines always look a bit different from everyone else’s! ❤
I fully agree! If she can get a 6.2-6.4 level bar routine, she'd have a great chance at uneven bar finals if she makes the team. I feel like they would take her if she's able to hit a solid bar routine in general. The US could still use some bar workers and she's great at beam too. Her pirouettes look even better than they did years ago so I'm definitely excited for her! 😆
@@murasakino101I think beam is the more important event for her. The American team is really strong on bars. They could really use another high scoring consistent beam routine for TF.

Yassssss! Gabby was the first gymnast I really watched during the Olympics and she got me obsessed with the sport! She is looking so good and I absolutely believe she has a serious shot at making the team, but it's gonna be a BLOODBATH this year. This has got to be the hardest Olympic trials we have had in gymnastics, right? The list of mega talented athletes just goes on and on!
I agree. But technically, Shilese Jones is the better choice over Jordan Chiles right now. Shilese is a back to back world all-around medalist. At the most recent US National Championships, she outscored Jordan in the all-around, uneven bars, and floor exercise. The only event where Jordan is superior is vault, and that's only by a small margin.
It makes me happy to see these athletes staying in elite sports as adults. The teenage waifs of previous years were definitely skilled, but there was a lot going on which wasn’t good for them.
If everyone can prepare and be healthy, having a potential trials/Olympic team lineup of Simone, Suni and Gabby would be absolutely historic - 3 AA champs on one team? Are you kidding me? I would scream lol.
it makes me so happy that the age pool for women's gymnastics is increasing. i truly think it's the embrace of muscle and power, which peaks in your mid 20's to mid 30's, over pure thinness, which caused immense shame and fear regarding puberty for female competitors (like you see in figure skating). now for artistic gymnastics you require the growth of puberty to reach these levels.
3-Time Olympian? I thought she went to two Olympics. I LOVE LOVE her handstand positions on bars and her overall inverted giant work that people don't seem to be doing as much of these days.
I didn't think you could link two of the same skill together for any bonus. Two Healy's in a row shouldn't be worth anything (unless I'm mistaken). Is it possible that she's actually linking a Healy to a Ling, which would count as a different skill?

Elite careers are lasting longer. The college gymastic scene is popular too. Simone is aged 26, Shilese is age 21, Jordan is age 23, Jade will be 24 and Sunni is age 21. Internationally adult women are everywhere in the competitive sport. And, yes they are winning medals, earning sponsorships & top rankings! Vanessa Ferrari, age 33; Rebecca Downey, age 33; Rebecca Andrade, age 25; Jade Barbosa, age 32, Sanne & Lieke Wevers both twins at age 32, Eythora Thorsdottir, age 25 etc., etc. there are many others I won't name. But of special mention is Oksana Chusovitna, who at age 48 is still performing elite level gymnastics and is winning medals. Your opinion as to who is "too old" can be placed in the trash, where such rubbish thinking belongs. Women's artistic gymnasts have proven you wrong time & time again. There's no such thing as "too old." Some gymnasts are evergreen. Let the women reign!
