Just want to address the scratching mentioned. When I opened mine I saw the same issue but eventually noticed that all the panels are covered in a thick protective film that can be hard to see and just as hard to get started to peel off. Once I got the film off all the scratches were gone. The panels without the protective film are a mat finish and not glossy. So if you see a glossy panel it still has the film even though you cannot see it.
Purchased a crestie from you in 2016. He is living his best life in a 24x24x24 Dubia enclosure (bioactive/drylock background). Love my Dobby, and I am officially hooked.
I bought the 18x18x24 for my crested when it gets bigger and I absolutely love it. I’ve got it fully bioactive and for anyone that wants to get a dubia enclosure and make it bioactive, make sure you silicone the bottom and sides. Well worth it!
Great video Wally. I was looking at these for my Rankins but went with Tetrafauna instead because I got them for a great price. Measurements are the biggest problem with most if not all commercial and even custom enclosures. Everything is built on the exact measurement (36, 48, etc.). This is most likely done to minimize labor cost and waste but it can be a problem. Most racking systems are also built to those same measurements but the corner supports of those racks take up space so the distance between them is less. I love the adjustable wire shelving units with the round poles. I have 9 of the 48x18 of them in my room. The problem is that the usable space between the poles is only about 45.5 inches so a 4" tank won't fit. It's the same with your example. The shelf is 36 and so is the tank so it wont fit. Your solution was simple because it was on top but if you wanted to do a rack with these cages your shelf wouldn't work. If I were a cage manufacturer I would definitely take this into consideration. See you at Tinley?
You are spot on with this. I cannot imagine if I planned to have this on a middle shelf! And I completely understand the why (thanks for posting here for everyone to better understand). I really do like this enclosure and the size is of course a minor - as it probably will not impact others as much as it did me. Yes for Tinley! And, if you have time, I used one of our comments in my prior video about being positive with dealing with comments. Hope you don't mind.
Just so u know it does say right on the description on the site that there will probably be some cosmetic scratches as that's how they are able to cut cost down a bunch idk exactly what it said but it absolutely is there
I did an oopsie on their website and ended up accidentally checking out 😅 So decided to look up reviews! Thanks for the video! Very insightful and glad I watched it. I'm not gonna bother with having the order canceled cuz it was legit my bad and your review convinced me! So now I know what to expect. Seems like it will work for what I need!
@@ryangalvatron4451 I didn't only because I house Leopard Geckos and it's Semi-Arid .... If I had a Tropical Species that required much more Moisture Etc, I would have.
@@rdnkenki that totally makes sense. My Leo is in a zilla front opening tank. I have a CHE on the hot side and its at about 82-83. I mist his humid hide a few times a week and thats it. I just got a ball python and ordered the 36*18*12 from Dubia. I am going to use Loctite clear sealant. The way these are built you have to seal the gap where the aluminum track meets the pvc panel.
nice looking set up and this video will help me make up my mind on some new enclosure I like it thank you for sharing your experiences with this enclosure .........Plus I love the hat when you did the review keep you the amazing work you do
Thanks Andrew. Let me know if you have any questions at all on this. I try to be very transparent in the reviews (even on my mess ups :) But, if you see something that you would like more info on, let me know.
Great video! I also purchased an enclosure about 2 months ago. It was fairly easy to assemble and is very light weight. Taking the clear plastic off ALL the sides and doors was a pain though! Did you do that part? Mine looked scratched too until I removed all the plastic film. I plan to house my viper geckos in it in the future. Hi, by the way! I'm the guy who messaged you about the viper gecko eggs 😊
I did take the clear plastic off. The front panels are not scratched luckily. Vipers will LOVE the amount of room you are giving them. I have such a difficult time matching IDs across social media platforms.
Excellent question! That's why I was keeping those edge guards on (but that made the doors nearly impossible to open/close). I think if you did a mourning gecko size animal, they could. Leopard, crested, even baby cresties are a bit larger bodied to make it through.
Hi! Do you think is a good idea if i place a small bottle caps with a bit of pollen for cresteds Or maybe mix it with some calcium or just calcium? Don't think will be bad but rather have a better opinion

That is SO COOL to hear! Hi Dobby. And thank you so very much.

Great comment. I'm actually just now tearing mine down to silicone and will make it into a bioactive. Thanks!

The scratches were little concern to me as I mentioned. The functionality is what I was mostly looking for. But thank you for the info.
Thank you for the great video! We've got one of these sitting downstairs right now waiting to be assembled.
Very cool! Hope you caught my 2 oops. :) Any questions that I can answer, please don't hesitate.
It looks like a very nice enclosure Wally. Thank you.
Thank you Barb

Very cool. I love hearing this.
Interesting. Another review said the side vents were for passing cords through.
That IS interesting. I don't think so but might be wrong.
Just ordered another. These are my go to enclosures now. The quality is pretty good for the price too.
I am really enjoying mine as well.
Did you seal the base with any sealant?

how do you think these would do holding water? would they be easy to seal? love the hat! go birds 🦅
You absolutely would need to silicone the edge.

How tight is the juncture where the two doors overlap? Could a small gecko sneak out of there?

You think I could hold a corn snake in there safely? No spots they could get stuck or slip out etc?
I’d be purchasing the 4’x 2’x 4’

What a nice cage. 😀🙏
I think it is too. Thanks.
