    Thank you Asiya for your tutorial. I wrote my IELTS academic on the 9th of July, 2022, in Nigeria and I had a 7.5 band score. I followed your approach to answer my task one. I had a 7 in writing. I'm so shocked. Thank you so much. It was multiple pie charts that came out in the Task one of the writing test.

    Dear Asyia, I’m a fan of your videos and I thank you so much for all the free material you provide!
    Last month I tried the Ielts Academic, unfortunately I didn’t get the result I was hoping: my writing was marked 6,5 (I needed at least a band 7 in every part) and I will need to retake the exam.
    I was a little surprised by writing task 1: 2 maps to compare. I did my best implementing the usual structure but I think this affected my performance and I missed the required band for just half a mark.
    Would you be so kind to show us a sample answer for this type of task? I would be so grateful to you!
    Have a wonderful day!! Stella

    Hi, seeking a review of my attempt from fellow IELTS aspirants:
    The line graph illustrates the average number of children born to one woman between 1920 and 2019. The table below shows the average at which woman had their first motherhood in the same time frame as the graph which is 1920-2019. The common trend which can be seen in the graph is that more children were born to a woman in Kazakhstan than a woman in the UK while the table shows that a woman in Kazakhstan had motherhood at an early age compared to their UK counterparts.
    Since 1920, there was an upward trend for both groups until 1960 wherein women in Kazakhstan gave birth to around 4.5 children and around 2.7 in the UK. Post that, we see a consistent decline until the late 2000s with a small uptick for Kazakhstan in 2019.
    Furthermore, from the table, it is visible that the women in Kazakhstan gave birth to their first child earlier by 1-3 years compared to the woman in the UK. In the year 2019, both groups saw the age for their first motherhood peak with the women in Kazakhstan having their first child at the age of 27.6 and 28.9 the women in the UK.

I was once corrected by a native speaker friend for this. Wouldn't that lower our score in the writing task? Instead should we rather say "accross all periods"? I'd be super happy if you could clarify, thank you :)

    Your lectures were a great help.
    I would like to get an evaluation on this
    The line graph illustrates how many children women gave birth to
    on average in the UK and Kazakhstan during the period, 1920 to 2019.
    While the tabular chart represents data about the mean age of mothers
    when they had their firstborns for the same countries and time intervals.
    Over time, there was a decline in the standard birthrate and an uptrend
    in the childbearing age in both countries.
    On the contrary, the number of children born in Kazakhstan,
    that too at a younger age, were more as compared to their UK counterparts.
    In the year 1920, the childbirth count per woman was approximately 2 and 4 in the UK and Kazakhstan respectively.
    This was followed by a gradual increase for the next four decades reaching its peak in the year 1960, depicting a change of 1 child.
    However, the later part of the century was on a downtrend for both nations.
    The 21st century was a diverging point as the UK continued on the same trend, whereas a considerable climb was observed in Kazakhstan.
    The information in the table tells that birth giving age in Kazakhstani women had been on a constant rise, while that of the Uk had its ups and downs.
    Starting at the age of half past 23 and 26 years, reaching up to 27.5 and 29 years for Kazakhstan and UK respectively by 2019.

    Hi, could you share some tips to keep the word limit under check for questions with two charts, especially where there is a lot to discuss in both charts like this question?
    Specifically for this question, don't you think not talking about the increase in average children born to UK women from 2000-2019 and about the decrease in the average age of UK women in 1980 as an anomaly to the general trend will harm the score for 'highlighting each key feature'?

    What are type of words that are not counted in IELTS writing?

  • @mukit3772
    @mukit3772 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Please clear the doubt!!!
    How many years' data did you mean by between 1920 and 2019? Just 2 years or 100 years?
    I'm asking this question because, 'between' represent only two things. According to your question topic, you used only two years data, 1920 and 2019.
    But according to your chart, there you used 100 years data from 1920 to 2019. And 1920-2019 also means 100 years.
    So, what would be the accurate question topic? --------child in two countries between 1920 and 2019 or --------child in two countries from 1920 to 2019.
    (Between, and) Vs (From, to)
    I think it's just a typo or biggest grammatical errors!
    Please make it clear.

    The graph illustrates the number of children women had on average within the UK and Kazakhstan between 1920 to 2019, while the table shows the average age of first childbirth within the same countries. Overtime, a general trend of changes in age and country of childbirth can be seen in the graphs with women in Kazakhstan having their children earlier than women in the UK.
    In 1920, the average British woman gave to about 2 kids compared to women in Kazakhstan who had over 3 kids on average. Regardless of the growth in Kazakhstan which peaked significantly in 1960, the birth rate experienced a gradual decline in both countries until the year 2000. Between the years 2000 and 2019, first childbirths in both the UK and Kazakhstan averaged almost 2.0 and 3.0 respectively.
    Nevertheless, in terms of age at first childbirth, females in Kazakhstan preceded those in the UK by at least 3years. Despite the slight drop in the year 2003 by Kazakhstan, both the UK and Kazakhstan experienced a gradual growth from 26.5 and 23.5 in 1920 to 28.9 and 27.6 in 2019 respectively.

    Hey Asiya, excellent write-up as always. I would like to clarify one bit though, the "average British woman" does not quite convey the same meaning as "British woman on average had approximately 2 children", does it ?

    • @FasTrackIELTS
      @FasTrackIELTS  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thanks! Agree, the meaning is slightly different, but fundamentally still the same. If women on average have two children, then an average woman also has two children. Don't dig too deeply ;)

    hello Asiya, I have a question. My writing task 1 usually is quite good, but, when it shows percentages %% I usually add them in my report as they are, obviously adding comparisons where relevant, etc. My teacher, however, said that repeating % as a word or symbol might make me lose points. To be honest, I cannot make maths during the test, like fractions or things like this, it is very complex, and even more when the percentages are like 42%, 17%, 38%, how do you make a fraction of this??
    I would like your opinion, as I did not find this declaration in your courses, and this might help other users. Thanks.

      @FasTrackIELTS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Evelyn! It's totally okay to repeat percents. It's good to use expressions like a half, two-thirds or one in three/one in four to show some flexibility, but there's no way to replace 17% or 42% and I don't think you should.

    Could anyone help me with the my question? Is it OK to say "the average British woman" in first sentence of the second paragraph? It sounds a little strange to me, because it seems that it's talking about the average number of children that a woman gave birth.

    • @FasTrackIELTS
      @FasTrackIELTS  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are different ways to say it. An average woman has 2.3 children. Or a woman has on average 2.3 children. There are on average 2.3 children per woman. I guess N2 and 3 are more common, but all are correct.
