I really wish we found out if Darkstalker actually did enchant Anemone to kill her family or if Anemone was acting on her own will with that

I personally love anenome but it makes sense that others dont she is a brat but it makes sense why shes a brat and i think that bulids great character
I think it was hinted to be partially due to all of her animus training and some of her soul being taken because of it and thus her bratty behavior. I personally believe animus magic has nothing to with the soul and it’s more of a bringing out true colors sorta thing but that’s just me
@@serendipitysirenst the end of the book they did mention that it could be that it wasn’t Quibli’s protection spell that stopped her from being annoying and more so because she saw what happened to Darkstalker, but also desperation is the best weapon and since she isn’t so desperate anymore that also explains it

I think it's worth mentioning that Anemone was let off her harness after Queen Coral caught Webs, and we can assume she was regularly let off after that, as Tsunami caught the real killer and Coral had Auklet. She also begged to go to the Jade Mountain Academy - she wasn't forced to by any means - and Coral was very hesitant to let her go, as she loved her daughter so much. She told Anemone that she could come home at any time, and was extremely excessive about it. Anemone isn't just Anemone the animus, she's Anemone, princess of the SeaWings, daughter of Queen Coral.
Well they said Anemone was only let off after Auklet was born only when during that time Coral was getting Auklets harness and then after that she was back on until she got Invited to be one of the first students at Jade mountain academy. So…. That’s 2 years with no freedom, and in human years I’m pretty sure that’s 8.
Hmmm, regarding Anemone, I've regarded her as a spoilt child, looking at her character in Arc 2. But now, paying more attention to her past, and the arguably flawed culture of royal dragons, I can see that she was basically hollow, only being molded to what a very select few wanted her to be. Darkstalker took advantage that Anemone was always someone who fumbled around in the dark, unable to think for themselves, or understand others.
P.S. This really makes me want to go re-read those books again
This is a truly excellent analysis of Anemone. So many decry her sudden character shift or only read her as a spoiled brat, but I've always maintained that there's more going on there - in exactly the way that you outlined here. Poor thing; she was actually pretty smart and sweet in the environment that she knew to navigate... it's only out in the real world that things started to go wrong, fast.
Im sooooo glad you made a video on Anemone! She is one of my most fav characters, and sometimes cant help but wish we got a book for her. anywise I think that you are so, so right, her mental health and personality was squashed by her overly protective mother. but now, if you think about, she has Tamarian, who is different and I bet you will help Anemone find her place in life.
Anemone is one of the few who actually deserves to have a redemption arc, she went through alot, between a whole war where she was only known as the queens only heir, or the sea-wings powerful and secret weapon, to a school with lots of other dragons and no understanding of how to interact with them, to being thrown into an evil animus's claws, she really needs an arc where she improves, I want to see her improvement, who lead her to becoming a better person, and how she would find her usefulness, without being an heir, without her powers, just her, so she doesn't feel like she has nothing to give anymore, I want to see her with real friends! And doing fun hobbies! She is one of the few dragons in which I truly wanna read a perspective from, but I would love to hear everyone else's thoughts on her lol

I kind of like Anenome. Her desperation and need to be important is very well written. She does need some time to change and I've always shipped her with Tamarin. Plus, I don't know anyone who dislikes her design. Your art looks great too!

I can *kinda* see why she would get mad when darkstalker wasn’t giving her the attention he use to give her
she never had a father figure and darkstalker teaching her and speaking to her animus-to-animus training her like an actual father and being “supportive” was probably really special for her even if he was tricking her and I feel so bad that she even had to feel like that
I like to think that her being bratty was because she hadn’t been off the leash since she was born and was used as a weapon and not cared for like an actual child and maybe that’s what altered her into acting more like a little kid
I can see why she wouldn’t be liked either as she’s bossy and has that “I’ll get what I want” attitude but maybe it’s just a thing she sponged off Coral while being leashed to her
(Not trying to sugarcoat her or her actions but these are just some thoughts I have)
I personally really like Anemone and I would like to imagine getting a winglet of her to see what shes thinking about everything and everyone
I'm not really the analysis type, so I didn't actually catch on to all these things before this video. I'd always just thought Anemone had gone from a cool character in arc 1 to a selfish brat for no reason in the 2nd. xD
But anyway, great analysis, great art, and wishing you luck while going through all the Transformers movies! (Can't wait for Rise of the Beasts! Aahhh!!)
Honestly half of the time during arc 2 when anemone even appeared I just to snap her snout shut just because of how annoying she was but I do like the character development and realization she went through

I agree! Anemone was never my favorite character, in fact, sometimes I downright disliked her, but her character development has always stunned me with its subtle complexities. And as always, your art is fantastic! Her pose definitely reflects what we see of her character!
Anemone is one of my favorites! I’d love to see a Winglet or something where Moray is trying to become the SeaWing queen, but gets stopped by Anemone, and has some Tamaone in it! I think Anemone is the type of dragon who doesn’t know which path to take and trys to let others make it for her or something, but when she learns the truth (Turtle making her an animus, Darkstalker tricking her), she starts to learn from her mistakes and becomes more of a better dragon than how others used to see her, like how at the end of arc 2, she’s already learning from her mistakes and helping Tamarin and others instead of just herself, though it’s just in my opinion. Maybe you could do a What if Moon didn’t have powers or if Blue and Luna swapped roles? Also you are doing great! Keep up the good work!
I have a lot of empathy for Anemone as a character. I think her attitude problems and annoying qualities reflect more on her mother and Darkstalker than her. I also find it heartbreaking that at least how I read her fight scene with Turtle she just needed someone to tell her she wasn’t inherently evil. She must’ve grown up with stories like Albatross’s and just fell into the mental trap of “if I’m doomed to go mad and loose my soul anyways I might as well go with it!” I can’t imagine the kind of issues she must’ve been facing.

I’m always confused why Anemone has pink scales when any other SeaWing doesn’t, and wouldn’t that make other dragons think if they didn’t know her- seem like a SkyWing hybrid? Because she’s pink

I feel like Peril and Anemone are examples of pretty similar circumstances leading to different situations. Peril had a pretty similar upbringing to Anemone in the sense they were both used as weapons for their unique abilities. After they no longer had to be that weapon, they both felt lost. Anemone tried to seek approval from everyone else and dragons who weren’t good for her whereas Peril knew she’d only be seen as dangerous and seemed approval only from Clay.

Anemone is... Strange. I think if I met a person like her then I'd probably like to stay away from her as to not get tangled in the trouble she causes. Perhaps she can get better, with attention, care, and love, just as long as it's not me :)
Don't forget at the end of ark 2 kinkajou brings up anemone x tamarin! Tamarin is the perfect dragon to help anemone with adapting to life and tamarin sees anemone for a dragon and doesn't want any more than to be close to anemone

tbh, i dont really like Anenome because she it bratty, but relateable in a way.
She is BEAUTIFUL! To be honest myself, I don’t really like her - she still seems like kind of an entitled brat by the end of the second arc.

I love her design but her personality is a bit much.
I personally HATE Anenomy. Inloved her in book 2, but in book 6 sje was just really unlikeable for me. I can get why people like her, i just personally at the time didnt see or get the character development going on. Also, in book 9, she was way to nosey for my taste in the beginning, with turtle and kinkajou.
