On these comparison A350-900ULR does have almost entire aspects that airlines need to do ultra long haul flight (longest range & efficiency of fuel burn rate around 5.8t/h). However 777-200LR has the widest cabin. But personally as a passenger I would still fly on 4 engine aircrafts due to feel more secure instead of flying on twin engine🤓🛫
Stradivarious Hardhiantz Thanks for your comment! Yep, 4 engine aircraft gives some added reassurances, and of course they look good too! Thanks for watching, would you love to see more Plane Spotting? Please do let me know!
@@oneskyflyer indeed 4 engine aircrafts are look good that's why many Shiekh & Sultan fly on it. For the next content, would be so lovely if you compare freighter conversion on 777-300ERSF vs A340-600HGW-P2F based on your analysis🛫🛫
Stradivarious Hardhiantz the Titanic passengers felt more secure on a 4-funnel ship. The last one was actually just for show, it served no purpose whatsoever.
Hữu Nam Nguyễn Thanks for tuning in to this one! Will simplify the intro part in future ones! Do stay tuned for some great future comparisons on the way :)
I think the only current route served by the A350-900ULR is SQ21/22, SIN-EWR, the longest route currently flying commercially. 2nd I believe to be AUK-DOH, currently served by the 77L. The rest of the top 20 longest routes in operation can be and are served by 789, 77W, 359, 388 and 77L, meaning that "ULH" type aircraft are suitable only for very niche routes. A fun little research project would be to determine which financially viable routes could be opened with a 359ULR only. Yes, I am aware of the "passenger preference" of the A350, but I personally prefer the window seat of the 787 because those huge windows allow more space for me to put my pillow in a cramped, basic economy (which is all I can afford to fly.) By the way, very good video, friend. Your editing and presentation are of excellent quality.
Sadly, the 340 is out of date by now. It was my favourite. I look forward to flying in a 350. The 777 has been a great plane but things develop and new variant of old ideas don’t necessarily work well - 737 Max, anyone.
777x is different from the 737 Max. Part of the reason on why they had to put the Max engine higher is because Boeing didn't even redesign the wing, they just slapped different winglets and engines on the 737NG wing. On the 777X however, they replaced the aluminum 777 wing with a carbon fiber wing with greater dihedral, so it can fit a GE9X engine without having to make the engine higher than the wing. They have also redesigned the wing for the 747-8 which is also "new tech on an old frame", and so far I have never heard of a single issue with the 747-8.
Rashad Khan Thanks for your comment. Yes you are right that the A340-600 does offer incredible high seating capacity, and it is such a good looking aircraft. The A350-1000 is definitely up to the task of replacing the A340-600, hmm, stay tuned for a video covering this topic soon :)
range + capacity + efficiency (operation costs) + passenger satisfaction: these are the four main criteria for what is BEST. your analysis could have given numerical value to these 4 and then see how they all add up in the end. but note that the 350-900 ulr of Singapore Airlines has no additional fuel tanks which, if they did, would have enabled the aircraft to fly even farther. capacity very often depends on the airline; Singapore Airlines did not think that economy seats would be an attractive option for flying the longest regular commercial flight today, so they opted for fewer seats for more passenger comfort. of course, the 350-1000 ulr that Qantas wants for its Project Sunrise will have additional fuel tanks to fly the longest ever flights in the future: Sydney-New York and Melbourne-London.
Tony de Castro Thanks for your comment. Yep I will take into account the feedback for future videos. Singapore Airlines did indeed choose against premium economy as they felt it suits their business case. However, the -900ULR simply doesn’t have the takeoff payloads to carry an economy cabin on such Long flights either. Thanks for watching and do stay tuned for future videos :)
The A350 is definitely the best plane on paper but for me I still like the 777 plane I've done a lot of traveling with far more comfortable and modern than the archaic A340 which is just a stretched A330 with 4 engines.
The A340-500 is truly the most underrated aircraft in this category that would beat all these other competitors her aft cargo compartment can be outfitted with and extra fuel tank beating the A350 ULR
The A350 can cover much more distance than the A350 and that only with 2 engines which consume much less and are more efficient and that means a lot less engines to maintain, especially since the comfort and safety of passengers is greater. and that the A350 carries almost the same amount of passengers as the A340 for much more distance and much less fuel used with superior cabin comfort. The A340 was exterminated from aviation by the 777
I dont get why these Aviation channels put the 777x in comparison to a flying plane like the a340 or a350. It never took the sky, it is always delayed and Boeing is a sinking ship. Even Qantas made up their mind for the a350, so stop comparing 777x and a350. Let s see it fly first, then compare these two! 🤦🏻♂️
I think the A340 is one of the best looking aircrafts there is but unfortunately like the video said it's just not efficient enough with those four engines to compete😐
Good point as that also has some great range but only in the 787-9 variant(I am not sure about 787-8 variant so sorry for that). The 787-10, the aircraft in the 787 lineup which is closest to these aircrafts in comparison in passenger capacity, still carries less passengers and much less range. It is also no logic to compare a dreamliner(787-9) which carries only two third the number of passengers than these aircrafts.
TJ King Twin Engine phobia... hmm, well twin engined airplanes are now just as safe as quads, though the A340 is one of the safest ever! Thanks for tuning in and do stay tuned for future premieres and uploads :)

Ibrahim Makumba Thanks for your comment! Yep, the 777 was the most successful widebody, while the A350 is a perfect one for one replacement in the same size and range category. Thanks for watching :)
I find it rather odd that you include A340-500, a plane that went the way of the dinosaurs years ago in this comparison. It is not even used by any airline for any long routes at all today, SAA, an operator of the 600 variant, just went belly up. just forget about a particularly demanding 9,500NM mission such as this one. The reason is simple: A350-1000, the winner, will have a MTOW of 320 tons. 777-8 is far less efficient in terms of fuel consumption with a MTOW of 352 tons. There is also the situation that the old A340 has a slow cruising speed of Mach .82 vs Mach .85 for the newer A350, which results in some 100 additional minutes flying time over the route in question. Fuelwise the old Airbus needs 170 tons of fuel, the newer one with a bigger payload will only require 125 tons. 777-200 was debunked by A350-900 on the shorter and less demanding SIN-JFK so just forget about this one. Qantas also expected the winner to be competitive on some of their main shorter routes from SYD, such as to HKG, SIN, LAX & IAH. Here the heavier Boeing would be even less competitive, should JFK and/or LHR turn out to be not viable, a definite possibility. It remains to be seen if passengers will withstand 20 hours on a plane.
Luis de stefano Thanks for this detailed comment! Yes I included the A340-500 as some wanted to see the comparison between A340 and A350 on the channel. I will do a separate Comparison on that one. The A350-1000 is simply the best aircraft for Qantas with its low fuel burn per seat and thus it truly deserves the order. Thanks for watching and do stay tuned for future uploads :)
Chinnakannu Kannan Thanks for your support! The A340 was designed alongside A330 and was meant tho fly longer routes while the A330 shorter routes. This is due to the ETOPS regulations at the time prohibiting twin engined airplanes from flying Long trips away from the airport, meaning that 4 engined Long range aircraft was more efficient. With the introduction of the 777, ETOPS regulations changed and twinjets quickly became most popular. Do stay tuned for an EPIC comparison which should answer your question in greater detail! Thanks for watching and do let me know if you would like to see Plane Spotting! Really appreciate all honest feedback and opinions :)
Cantankerous65 Thanks for your comment! Well the A340 is the closest product by Airbus to the 777. While they are vastly different, in the 1990s and 2000s, they were actually competitors. The earlier A340 competed with the 777-200, -200er and -300 while the later variants competed with the 777-200Lr and 777-300er. Thanks for watching and do stay tuned for more great videos on the way!
I think it was only done just for the sake of comparison & setting of some reference points. Having said that, those two birds are really incomparable, in my opinion.
Yeng Sabio well his point of view is that when the A340 was conceived 2 engine airplanes couldn’t fly long distance routes at the time people were afraid of Engine failures but I think it was an Airline that demonstrated that that was not the case
