I was surprised by not seeing earlier Land Tax decks included with the history. Locally in the 90’s, there were decks people called “Death & Taxes” using various ways to take advantage of Land tax.
12:08 I doubt we will ever see hatebears in standard. The metagame there has just too many "fair" decks that can't simply be shut down with the right card. Also taxing is just so much more effective when the format is fast in general. Historic on the other hand is in a great spot for hatebears to be a thing and it's seeing some success on ladder already. I recommend keeping out an eye for that.
I heard other content creators say the origin of the name way back came from the saying: "There are only 3 constant things in life... Death, taxes, and someone sleeving up a white weenie deck to a tournament."
close enough since whatever that got past the taxes probably gets "death" by removal spells and the deck originates from people playing small white creatures and gradually playing those with more and more text (or tax) stapled on them
Anyone think we have enough stuff for standard Death and Taxes? Thalia is back and white has some really good hate cards (Reidane, Spellbinder, Apparition).
I think the addition of thalia, concealing curtains and savior of ollenbock in addition to silverquill silencer, skyclave, reidane, archon, spellbinder is good for standard

Thalia being reprinted in standard lmao
Well we got Thalia...
I love this series. When the History of the Banned List concluded, I was kinda sad.
I love the subtle change where you show the decks in their current form (i.e. latest MTGO top 8).
Great video!
How the hell have you already made 22 of these and how have I enjoyed watching all of them
Ah yes, the plesantkenobi deck
A beard, the man has a beard!
I heard he has a TH-cam channel
@@trunkage HE HAS A TH-cam CHANNEL?!
I got into modern thanks to his GW death and taxes deck. All hail cat Jesus!
Ah crap, now I have his "Let's keep Stoneforge Mystic banned in. Mo. Dern." jingle stuck in my head.
This one I missed watching due to a hurried past week, but this series is too precious to not come back and catch up! Keep up the amazing work, Nizza
I've been really enjoying these deck history videos!
I've loved the idea of trying to make a green-white hatebear deck for Pioneer using Collected Company. We shall see though.
Another great deck history video!! Thank you!! Please don't let this series end!!
Man I love D&T. I'm terrible at Magic, but it's far and away my favorite deck to watch being played.
Nizzahon notification?
Time to get up and drink my morning coffee.
Great job, great content
Thalia, Wasteland, Rishadarn Port is the holy trinity of mana denial in legacy hahaha
I love that there is no need at all to make a poll at this point, splinter twin will automatically lose. have you already done four horseman?
Thalia might make me finally try playing Pioneer, G/W hatebears here we go!
Isn't death and taxes a thing in Historic already? There's a mono white deck with Elite spellbinder and Thalia which is pretty popular on the ladder
Thalia, Hatebear of Thraben
Storm is really gonna hate this
So is the deck called Death and Taxes because all the hate cards essentially make your opponent "pay a tax" to play their strategy?

I like these. Keep doing them.
Wooooooo, one more week of Splinter twin
love the vid, and have to say: you look cool in the intro, liking the drip
Nizzahon, more like TheDripIsOn
Finally one of my two favorite archetypes. Avian Mindcensor gang rise up
Hmm, I kinda thought there would be a bit more history of this theme delving into black.
Can we get the history of "The Deck" on the poll this week? Please?
Do you think eldrazi & taxes is too different to be included here? Or is it that it never had enough success to justify a deck history video?
The timing is uncanny since Thalia, Guardian of Thraben has been reprinted in Crimson Vow O_O

Is Splinter Twin just a meme at this point? I always vote for that one, but it keeps losing...
It is.
My fav deck is High Tide by Feline Longmore.
Why didn't the vintage decks have black lotus instead of lotus petal?
Are you from Oklahoma?
2 years later: "The History of Splinter Twins Poll Loses | Nizzahon Magic Poll History #1"
I miss Craig Wescoe in the pro scene, best white weenie playee
nice with Thalia in a format where mono white is teir 1 kk
"Hatebears becoming much more green going forward"
Proceeds to show 3 white/green cards.
Yes..the decks became more Green and ran more GW cards.
I think the addition of thalia, concealing curtains and savior of ollenbock in addition to silverquill silencer, skyclave, reidane, archon, spellbinder is good for standard
#freetwin
Twin is NEVER gonna win!
