- This is a video of the entire journey onboard TransLink's Millennium Line, one of the three Skytrain routes in Metro Vancouver. The Millennium Line was opened in 2002, and a new extension to Coquitlam will open in November 2016. Columbia station is the junction with the Expo line extension to Surrey which opened in 1993, but this is in a separate video:

We ride aboard Skytrain 108, a 1985-built ICTS Mark 1 car which with car 107 make up a set still in the former BC Transit paint scheme with TransLink decals. Connected to our set is Skytrain 081-082 - which is also a 1985-built ICTS Mark 1 set, in Skytrain livery. Filmed in the afternoon on July 28th, 2015.
To ride in the opposite direction, see here! • TransLink Millennium L...
The SkyTrain announcements is so old than todays SkyTrain announcements
I love mk1 trains, because of the sounds, and I enJOYed the former inside out ads on them.
What is that "revving up" sound the trains make when they're departing a station? Is that when the underside conductor connects to the rail? (I'm probably asking it the wrong way)
+Alex Jirgens I believe what you are referring to are the traction motors ;-)
So the expo line and millennium line are together?
This was filmed in 2015 when Millennium Line trains went to Waterfront via Columbia. Since late-2016 they go to Coquitlam. Braid and Sapperton thus became Expo line stations, with only Production Way and Lougheed stations served by both lines.
When exactly in 2015 was this video filmed?
I don't have access to my raw files at the moment to give you an exact date, but I'd say it was mid-July.
@@Welwyn22 Actually, the video with an out of service not stopping Mark 2 (2001/2002) train at VCC-Clark station (the signage indicating if a train is arriving) reveals that this video was recorded on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, so it can't be mid-July.
That train you rode on could currently be refurbished because all 1985 car trains are refurbished by now
It has been refurbished, yes. Only the 1991-1995 Mk1s have not been refurbished.
There are not many trains on the GNR tracks below 2:51 but the Evergreen trains will also pass by the CPR tracks in Coquitlam. There are a lot of trains there.
classicrockcafe yeah. Two new SkyTrain stations that directly connect to the West Coast Express...back before the Evergreen Line Extension only Waterfront was like that!
Also, when do you think the concrete pillars and support beams for the system (particularly for the Expo Line) will need to be replaced?
+Alex Jirgens Whenever they fall down in an earthquake or whenever they're considered life-expired (probably fifty years from now for Expo, seventy years for Millennium, eighty-five for Evergreen)
Nice video! I love vancouver.
So how do you transfer from the Millennium Line to Expo Line and vice versa?
+MissxVenomxPoison Sorry, didn't notice your comment until just now because it was 'linked' which means I don't get notifications for it.
You're referring to transferring at Commercial Broadway, I assume? If so, there's a walkway between the Expo Line Platforms and the Millennium Line platforms which is clearly signed.
+Welwyn22 Thanks :D
MissxVenomxPoison there's an overhead walkway at Commercial-Broadway station that connects the two stations together. When leaving the Millennium Line at the Commercial Street side where platforms 3 and 4 are, you go through an overhead walkway, take a down-going escalator to the Compass Machine concourse, take another escalator going up and go on another walkway that leads to the Broadway side of the station where platforms 1 and 2 are. Platform 1 goes to Waterfront and platform 2 goes out to Surrey. It's simpler than you think!
16:11 It will be a whole new ride when the Evergreen Trains reach this switch from VCC.
Indeed it is
I think the Burnaby Lake Line passed under right here. 5:51
I think the Burnaby Lake line passed by that tower at 5:45.
AAHHHHHHHHHHH remember the good old days when the millenium line went to waterfront.
the broadway extension will be its new golden age just you wait!
#InsideOut, seen at 23:30
From Broadway to Columbia, I prefer this route over the Expo route.
The #insideout ads are gone.
+Nick Liew I did like seeing joys face though.
+Nick Liew maybe a sequel of inside out will come out eventually, and then they would put inside out 2 ads in the train.
THAT is because the premiere of the movie is finished and was opened.
