- This week I have for you several Trash To Treasure DIY home decor projects for you! Every item you see was purchased at that Thrift Store and with IOD moulds and some paint, we're going to makeover these items into BEAUTIFUL farmhouse decor!
We'll makeover a galvanized can that I bought at the thrift store for $2.99 into a wonderful piece of farmhouse home decor! Then we'll take an old trunk that I bought at the Thrift store and flip it into a farmhouse coffee table. Lastly, we'll take these peat pod seeding pots and turn those into wonderful farmhouse garden decor! I'll show you several different ways to make them over! So, are you ready? I'm a new person to your videos and I have some peat pots that I can hardly wait to try your idea. I'm so happy I found you because I'm always trying to make something out of nothing special and you have really got some good ideas. I also have a old metal trunk I can hardly wait to paint, etc and put it up for sale!

Hi Cheryl...I've been so busy this week....I hadn't had a chance to respond to your comment. I'm sorry! Anyway, I loved the saying that you heard on FB! You made me laugh when you wrote, "Oh dear, I'm a pansy" HEE HEE Yea, I don't have the patiences to be so precise with everything....that's probably why I don't like quilting! If I had to be so careful with painting, I don't know that I'd want to do it. The attention is in the details, so I slap that paint on and after it dries....then I get serious! LOL You can always go back and touch up what you might have missed, but being so precise takes all the fun out of it! I always LOVED art, because there are no rules in art. You're free to do whatever you want! It's like playing in a puddle! FUN! So, yes...don't worry about being so perfect, because in the end...it's still going to look BEAUTIFUL if you pay attention to the details that come later! XOXO

A large washer under the screw on the inside of the trunk will insure that the screw heads will not pull through the bottom. I learned this the hard way. It is absolutely gorgeous and has so much storage. Thanks for the spoon tip.
OH....great suggestion! I appreciate that! This screw has a larger head, so I think we should be ok, but I totally could see if you were using a smaller screw head, how that could happen! Oh my gosh that trunk!! Brought back memories of the trunks my grandparents brought with them from Italy. They were in their upstairs sitting area. I always wanted one.

I love when thrift stores use price stickers that come off easily! My favorite store uses those too, no need for a blowtorch! Your creations were cute as usual!

Hi sunshine. Love the steamer trunk makeover. Gorgeous. I had one when I was 15 and used it as my hope chest. Later years used it as my coffee table. No where near to how yours turned out. Lol

Yea...that plastic stick just wasn't cutting it! I was rubbing like a mad woman and then I thought...there has to be a better way! I grabbed a spoon and that worked out soooo much better! You have probably found out by now that directions for IOD transfers state to use a top coat overpaint before laying down the transfer . They can be done with chalk paints but have found over the years best to sand well and wipe down al sanding dust and making sure good and dry.
What a great deal on the trunk n what you did with it was precious. Loved idea putting on those legs ( good deal on those too) n adding the transfer it turned out sooo sweet. Yeah, really love the idea of putting those feet on it. Milk can turned out cute too with that rooster, perfect. Those flower pots all turn out great n loved that cute rabbit . I’ve got to invest in those IOD’s n did you say you have those sticky transfer ( example the bee) in your Etsy shop? Those were so neat.

Wasn't that a GREAT deal...$19.99?!?! And, yes...it needed some kind of legs to raise it up, so now it really makes a nice coffee table for someone. It's not too low. The rooster and the rabbit are all from the same mould, so if you are thinking of investing in a IOD mould...that would be a great one to start with! It's like $20-$21, but so well worth it! I think that one even has acorns...you could do something really cute for Fall with that one, too! Yes, I have the transfer decals of the french sayings and bee with the wreath in my store. There are two sets of three to choose from. They are soooo easy to use and they make whatever you put them one look more expensive! Anyway, I'm so glad to hear that you love seeing what projects I come up with each week....that makes me so happy to hear! Thanks for telling me that! Hi - I painted peat pots for all my shows this year - I printed French- style labels from graphics fairy and mod podged on. In the spring I planted bulbs that Walmart was selling for $1 and last month I planted succulents I bought from Kroger for$1. I thought they would all sell, not so much 🥲

I'm terrible with plants, so I probably would have thought twice about buying it, because I kill everything. So cute and I love the resin. Never tried it. I would have put a COW on a MILK jug but it's yours. One more thing roosters and hens are chickens. Chicken would have been correct.
Hi Jan! Thank you so much for the compliment! IOD doesn't have a cow mould out. I wish they would though! The can was smaller.... so, the Rooster worked out because he was a longer and more narrower piece, but I totally could see a cow on there, too! PS... thank you for clarifying the whole rooster/hen thing....I'm never quite sure when I say chicken...if people will write in the comments, "That's a rooster, NOT a chicken!" so, I'm always trying to correct myself. Loved everything you made! But my dog sure misses the intro music with the whistling because she would always come running to see what it was. She is a little Shih Tzu and she would get so excited. Hello Friend... I have a tip ..corn starch for cheap...Wallmart sells their brand for less than a dollar...same size than the one u show in the video...Argo is very good for cooking but for crafts use the wallmart brand (green can) hope this help. I usually buy 4 at the time...

You need a sealer for the transfers to stick well. Then, they go on easily with the stick.
Yes, I found out the hard way to seal the piece before using transfers. After several weeks my transfer edges started lifting, even with sealer over the top of transfers.

Do you just paint over the dust and dirt ??
Hi Stella! I actually just took a Clorox wipe and cleaned it up with that. I think it shows it in the video. The trunk was so old and stained...it wouldn't have looked any better if I had scrubbed it down with a scrub brush....so, the Clorox wipe worked just fine! Hope that helps answer your question. You just want to get up any debris.
