No matter what you're working on, you're always imparting your know-how in a friendly, casual and easy-to-watch way. And, no matter how hard you try and what content you provide, you just can't please all of the people all of the time.
But for me, there's no such thing as a long Peter Anderson video.
    Good on ya Peter.

Peter, my name is Martin (i was the "lovely bloke at Bunnings") and I really like the way you do these video's. I have my XD project and what amazes me is your energy to keep all your projects on the go. Im also amazed you are still married!! I wouldn't be if I brought projects home at the rate you do. Keep up the great work! Cheers

Peter thank you so much for the videos you have done. Don't stress about your content you produce, over the last 4yrs I have watched and learnt so much from you. That gives me enthusiasm in working on my own projects. I found the mower videos entertaining and just thoroughly enjoy viewing any of your projects.

Hey Peter. I started watching the XW and XC vids, but I find the way you work very interesting and your attention to detail admirable. I've never found bikes or lawn mowers particularly interesting, but I've found something to like in each of your videos. I do watch them all. I think most of us are here because of your work ethic, not just your projects. Keep up the excellent work. Cheers.

This is the 1st time I ever comment on TH-cam, but I need to say this: I LOVE your long videos! Please don’t make them shorter. I really dislike when people edit things, that take a lot of time, effort and skills, down to a 3 minute montage.
Restoring stuff is hard, and having someone much more skilled than most, showing all the work that needs to go in, to get something cool out, is very refreshing and motivates me to work on my bike.
Pete, you can’t please everyone, let this be the channel for those, who enjoy the little details and the small victories, however long they take.

I for one would really miss your longer videos. Another comment summed up perfectly the reason why I watch them end-to-end - because they're both entertaining and educational. Your pacing and personality really make watching each episode a real pleasure. However, This intro was the first that I thought you felt under pressure to 'deliver' constant TH-cam content - so I'd be the first to back you on what ever format you felt best worked for you, and if that meant 20-30 mins videos delivering varied content, my sub to your channel will still be rock solid!

Hi Peter, love your videos and the way you present them. I also like how you show if you have made a mistake. Show's you are human and honest. I would like to do some bike rebuilds myself but have recently built a new house with my wife and all funds are tied up in finish off and not to mention the eldest daughter getting married. I know you tried the lawn mower fill in's and weren't particularly happy about lawn mower stuff but that is what I am working on at the moment, a 1978 Victa Utility side throw as it gives me something to do and at the moment is affordable. I also follow Andy's Motorcycle Obsessions who like yourself is an Aussie with a sense of humor and explains what and how he is doing. Cheers, keep the videos coming.

People underestimate how much fun those 80s mid sized bikes can be. I had a VF500 for years that was nothing but enjoyment. Have a crack at a Cafè if the motor's good, it would be a hoot! I'm enjoying both car and bike content, and find it inspirational to keep going with my GTR torana and once that's done the 1100 Katana. Keep up the good work mate, I'll keep watching no matter what format you go with.

Hi Peter. Discovered your channel about a year ago and immediately went back to the beginning of the XW videos and watched through. I'm a Ford guy (ZA Fairlane) and also have a shed full of Suzuki's so am certainly happy with the content. I also prefer your format to many of the "hand held" style videos on other channels.
Keep it up mate, dont change a thing!

Peter, you're a machine, I have one project on the go at the moment and constantly battle to find the time & motivation to get down there to do some work! With your Plymouth, XC, CB750, CB350 then today's Suzuki I take my hat off to you.
Definitely go the cafe/bobber/scrambler on the Suzi using your parts from the CB350.
Glad to hear the idle jets did it on the 750 and I enjoy all your videos whether they're 20 or 50 minutes in length, it doesn't matter to me as I always learn a great deal from them.

The devil is in the detail, and as such your highly motivating, educational and very entertaining vidoes are worth every minute. I much prefer your format to any of the stop frame before and after restorations as these miss the really important good stuff that is always included in yours. So, please don't change mate, long (my preference) or short i watch them all - more than once :-) best regards!!

Pete, great videos. I think that straight up 20 minute motorcycle educational videos would be great long term content for your youtube channel. There are far to few good ones. The more generic "clean carbs DIY" videos for instance view highly. Guys like me watch for the educational aspect. As well as general interest. The common sense stuff our absent fathers did not tell us.... cheers J.

I always enjoy your vids Pete. I'm into the same things, bikes, cars anything that has an IC engine. Old tractors are cool too. I think your video formula is good. Kindig, etc all have budgets, crew and do this for a living. How many subs do you have? 14,000+ or something. Imagine running a class room full of that many students! In effect that's what you're doing and it's going to be a legacy because it will probably still be getting views when we're gone from this place. Thanks and keep up the good work! Regards, Steve.

    • @PeterAndersons
      @PeterAndersons  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks Steve... 14,000 people in a classroom would be like a small concert, but at least they're there because they're interested... it may be easier than 27 kids who don't like what you're trying to teach them haha. Cheers

I've owned a few GSXF 750's and they were the best sports/tourer going. Handled beautifully, you always felt confident riding one, the biked did everything well, you could go hooning with your mates or take the missus away for the weekend, super reliable as well, the 400 would be more nimble so it would be a good candidate to cafe

Peter I love the longer videos and your format is just fine by me. If the content slows I'll still tune in like and subscribe. I don't mind the mix in projects... I came for the CB750 but I have enjoyed the cars, XL, and even the lawn mower....its your method, I like listening to your thought process and your mannerisms... Your teaching background comes through. Keep doing what you want to do...people will watch or not as long as your happy who cares... The CB Projects are cool I wouldn't be trying to restore the 360 after that frame chop but I glad you are ...I'm interested in seeing grafting the reproduction frame section onto the original.... Now the Suzuki is my kind of project and I can't wait to see what you do with it. Here in Atlantic Canada good running bikes of any condition or vintage are not cheap people want a mint... More then most 10 year cars go for. I pick up free or next to free basket cases and make them run on the cheapest SAFE budget I can. Some I've kept most I've sold at little or no profit. I do it because I enjoy working in the Garage... No skill with cameras and editing so none of it goes on TH-cam but oh well. Keep up the great videos....I'd watch if you started working on clocks or wead Wacker's..lol

Hi Peter, first of all I like the 40 min episodes. I just had the bits arrive to rebuild the forks on my CB400NB SuperDream and it's so nice seeing the new stanchions. The next job is taking the old ones off. If you have any problems getting bits try Dave Silver in the UK, They have never let me down.
I also have a GSX550ES in bits. There are lots of bits on ebay or try Crooks Suzuki in the UK. The rectifiers on 80's Suzuki's are utter rubbish and tend to cook the winding's . A common fix is to use a Honda rectifier. I have a SuperDream one set up for my Suzuki.

What you create and upload is great...keep doing what interests YOU (that way you will continue to create content and share). Don't worry about the video length...longer is preferred (we can always watch the content over a couple of viewings if you upload something longer than 30-40 minutes). Keep it up and thanks for posting what you do.

I've watched most all of Dino's hackaweek videos and was drawn to yours because of the cb750. I have a K4 and am thinking of doing the same to it. I am drawn to your videos because (much like Hackaweek) you explain in great detail the processes of your projects and have now watched a bunch of them. Likewise - although I can't afford a bike at the moment. :-( I always watch all the way through, and actually kinda prefer the longer format videos - after all, he's showing a restoration, not a quickie rebuild. The devil's in the details - and the details is what most channels on youtube don't bother to show. :-)

Hi Peter, I had nothing but trouble with double seal fork seals. They would just leak, I would find pools of oil collecting on the mag wheel rims (CB650). I used ATM oil which is red in color so I knew where it was coming from but anyway I ended up getting original spec seals which cured the problem. I hope your experience is different.

The perverbile "basket case"... someone starts a project, takes things apart and for whatever reason never puts the project back together. Good and bad comes to mind. If one is aware of what's in the baskets (or in this case the boxes) and finds most of the parts, this is a great situation to be in, alternatively, if there are plenty of important, or expensive parts missing, (in my opinion), it's better to pass on the opportunity.
I'm looking forward to see what you do with this Peter. The cafe racer idea will give you a change to be creative.
Enjoy every minute of your posts. I watch from start to finish; 40 or 20 min upload I learn something each and every time.
    Thanks for sharing!

My personal opinion here - quick resto-vids where you see 'photo-slide' of progress ... well, nice. But here, I got to see the details, the little things, perhaps even procedures. That is what I look for. And many others. This should be considered as an education video.

That Suzuki as is would fetch decent money either complete or as spares in Europe. But unless serious engine problems is worth a bit of time spending on it. Perhaps not for a professional but certainly a keen amateur. It's basically straight.

I'm working on a 350/4 myself; have you disassembled the crank from the cases yet? I was expecting to see the colour codes on the main bearings so I could replace them easily; but no, the paint has worn off, and I'd removed the bearings without marking which main bearing they came from, or which was the top and bottom half. I am used to British bikes where the shells are all the same size or +10 +20 thou etc, and stamped on the back their sizes. I now have to measure each main journal and the corresponding hole in the crankcase to select which colour bearing I need to buy at £11.00 each half shell! Five main bearings, ten half shells! PITA! Fortunately I didn't make this mistake with the big ends! You live and learn by your mistakes! Hope this helps someone avoid my mistake!

Like a few others I came here because of the 750 videos and it's the bike vids I watch the most, the car ones cos I haven't really watched them from the start I've not really got into them if you start a new I'd probably watch I just don't have the time to go back over everything . It depends on how much time i've got to spare sometimes I watch in one go other times I split into 2/3 sessions. I love the detail you go into that's basically why I watch hackaweeks build was a favourite as is the on yer bike series because of the detail. There were a couple of differences between the GS650G and the E model... the G had a roller bearing crank, plus shaft drive, where the E didn't. I've placed a photo of the G model like I owned here... whether TH-cam will let me embed a photo is another thing. Suzuki also produced a GS650GL model which was a cruiser style

Peter Andreson with wine, that can only mean one thing, yep...he bought something ! Great news on the 750 jets sorting the other two cylinders - massive result. So honestly do you need another filler project ? The stuff you do is always worth waiting for and I don't know if you are trying to build viewer numbers to the point that you can give up teaching but if not I would be surprised if you would loose the audience you have built with delays of a week or two - add to the the cost of parts and the dark looks from those in the house - I know what I would do...Maybe you could focus on selling off the cafe bits instead of finding something they would work for and show us how you make the projects affordable and where you source from ? Just my two cents which I fully expect you to ignore. As always, love the video, complete with visible fear of what might come from another purchase. All the best to you and yours.

Only people on American chopper who understood custom bikes where the head fabricates and Jr.
It soon descended into a lot of off the shelf custom bits cobbled together with some industrial design trinkets hanging off.
Was it Jesse James that called them a bunch of cake decorators?
Making corporate trophies is not custom bike building in my book.
Still it was entertaining I must admit.

Don't worry about losing views on your long videos you can't please everyone. You could split them into 2 parts but then most of us would rather as much content as possible whenever it it ready. Length doesn't matter we can pause, if you split them we can wait till they're all out then watching them it makes little difference either way. Your content is great the way it is and your core audience is here because of it, however it's not mainstream. However look at those mainstream shows you're talking about on foxtel, they're more drama than substance. I learnt next to nothing from them, yeah I was entertained for a bit but then quickly bored. I learn more from your content than I ever did from that foxtel junk. I like content that engages my brain, sadly the mainstream prefer to be mindlessly entertained. Don't worry about the mainstream, the world is a big place and there's plenty more like your core audience they just haven't discovered you yet. Others will just come and go depending of the projects that interest them. Either way don't stress about it, you're doing fine and when the summer comes you'll see a boost in views I bet, once you're back on the cars. Ever thought about doing a japanese sports car or iconic classic?

I think you need to contact Restorers Anonymous. "Hello, My name is Peter and I am addicted to restoration". I have no choice but to drop a few $$ your way. I acknowledge your sickness but I use it as a vicarious treatment for my own condition. Good luck explaining that purple monster to the Missus.

Hey Pete, I enjoy your content but personally i think you've got too much going on at once you've got all your cars, there was your mates trail bike, the Honda CB750/4 and the CB350/4 and now I see a junkyard Suzuki, where does it stop?

myfriendpete proved that you cannot do a car properly in 5 days... yeah the thing looked great and all. But the transmission wouldn't go into gear. the engine needed a rebuild (ran when parked) and so many other little details like steering and suspension.. and there were only 4 of them there and they were working over each other trying to get it done. SO basically seeing 20 guys on one car in the big shows is BS

Hi Peter, you asked for comments on your productions, I can tell you my take on it but that doesn't mean so much.
I watch your channel to see the details on how you do things, most technical stuff I can follow but while taking things apart I forget how that washer went in, rim upwards or downwards? Little things like that. So confirmation.
I agree with you that discovery programs were great until they were scripted. You take out the real life factor and it all becomes fake.
    Lose interest quickly.
Once I am into one of your video's I like to see as much of it as possible, nevermind if it is 30 or 45 minutes. Next please!
Addictive. Need to get on with life too, so 45 is fine.
The Ford you are doing was never sold in Europe so we do not have the fascination for that model. That might affect the popularity.
The Honda's were sold worldwide so your audience is much bigger.
Due to your aussie accent and nasal voice I sometimes miss what you are saying, so if you could improve on the audio it would benefit.
Without you turning into a commerical channel that only promotes your Amazon store, it could be a good idea to show where you get your stuff from. Or who you work with. Like the plating process for nuts and bolts.
Myself I am looking all over the place for someone that can reproduce or sells decals for a Gilera GSM, can not find it anywhere.
So if you can share some of these addresses it would be a help to me or other viewers with their own projects.
And yes if your dog barks, mine jumps up and answers!
So little changes and remain pure to yourself.

Just my humble 2c worth, but I can see that disgusting purple bike becoming a very deep money pit, and pretty undesirable..if you wanted to cafe a bike I'd buy a cheap complete running bike which you can test ride so you know its complete. And who the hell paints a bike purple???

    • @PeterAndersons
      @PeterAndersons  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Haha, yes the more disgusting the better... a bigger buz if it materialises into something worthwhile. Money pit - no way, it will be culled if it appears to be that way. Good running bikes aren't cheap in this neck of the woods regardless of what they are, so I took a punt on some trash.

I can't stand cafe racer bikes, and especially when people "street Fighter" a more modern sports bike. If you can't afford to fix a sports bike, then sell it rather than turn it into a gawdy monstrosity.
