I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Lisa and her father Phil Togni at their winery in 2013. He was a wealth of knowledge, and tasting their wines (including barrel samples of the 2012 Tanbark and Togni) was a highlight of the trip. They make classic, old-school mountain cab, and it's well worth checking out if you ever have the chance.
Lyre canopies are excellent for hot climates. The other advantage is that sprays are very effective, as the canopy captures all the spray, and being split and less dense, allows better penetration. It is a very flexible system allowing for subtle adjustments depending on the needs of the vines, as shown here.
