But I had to come to the conclusion that he saw me as an option and I saw him as the only choice. I don’t deserve that. So I finally let it go. You should do like a french immersion course where people get to come to paris and learn french with you. I did one in italy for a few weeks we went to a museum, dinner, market and nightclub it was a fun way of learning. We also had a few days of class tho. You could do it like once or twice a year I would sign up.

I went through something similar with an ex who I was with for 7 years and we didn’t talk for a whole year. Then one day they showed up and said “I miss my best friend”. We started hanging out as friends once every two months, then once every month, then once every 3 weeks, etc until we were comfortable being around each other without any awkwardness. Fast forward to many years later and that ex is one of my best friends and practically family at this point. Our love for each other is platonic and so strong. I hope you and your ex find your way back to each other in whatever capacity works for both of you at some point. Time and space heal most things. ❤ Sending you a lot of love.

The first person I started to fall in love with cut contact with me 10 years ago when he started seeing someone else and I haven't heard from him since. I don't think I'll ever be over him. Fast forward two years, my best friend and I had a lowkey romantic/sexual side to our relationship which didn't last long, but I wish that it had. We're still very close to this day and I'm not 100% over him but at least I have peace with the situation, because I know him in present day and I know what our relationship is like, even though it's less than what it was and what I wish it *still* was. Spending time with your ex after a breakup is a pain machine. I can't speak for others but it's easier in the long run to make a clean break. It helps you get over them / grieve. The love feelings don't stop if you keep hanging out with them. It reopens the wound and doesn't allow healing.

I believe that too, that you need to be exposed to reality in order to move on and have closure. The first person I started to fall in love with cut contact with me 10 years ago when he started seeing someone else and I haven't heard from him since. I don't think I'll ever be over him. Fast forward two years, my best friend and I had a lowkey romantic/sexual side to our relationship which didn't last long, but I wish that it had. We're still very close to this day and I'm not 100% over him but at least I have peace with the situation, because I know him in present day and I know what our relationship is like, even though it's less than what it was and what I wish it *still* was. Wish I could've had this with the first guy 🙄

Spending time with your ex after a breakup is a pain machine. I can't speak for others but it's easier in the long run to make a clean break. It helps you get over them / grieve. The love feelings don't stop if you keep hanging out with them. It reopens the wound and doesn't allow healing.

Damon this is crazy, I literally bursted into tears when you talked about tunisia. Because, I am going through the same situation with my Tunisian ex and we had that extremely intense connection in Tunisia. And now, he has happily moved on from me, while I am suffering mentally. I think if you are the one breaking up, I agree that you should give closure but still, you have to be gentle since the person you are leaving still sees you the way you saw them!
