Hyundai Santa Fe has a recall for Valve Cover Gasket - they may be able to get replaced for free and fix the oil leak causing the problem

Did you watch a video that told you to do it that way?
I woulda fixed the oil leak and cleaned the starter realy well with brake cleaner. The start obviously still functions when it doesn't short, theres a very VERY good chance that cleaning the starter will prevent it from shorting and without more leaking it wont short out again in the future like its going to now. But thats just coming from a mechanic that believes taking care of my customers as if theyre my mom.. you know theyre on a tight budget my guy. Take care of them and youll have customer's for life.

What motor would be helpful budive had 2 of the 3.5s a 2012 and a 2013 Veracruz limited. Beautiful platform in that configuration imo

Gee, days of old we would have thrown a new solenoid on the starter. Times have changed. I don't know if you can purchase those parts anymore.

Cry about dirty hands lol that's what rags are for! (You fixed nothing!) And got into their vehicle with them nasty hands! Nope Nope Nope ....Definitely a simple ground issue!!! Oil leak shorting the starter..hehehe....that's a good one!!
