This movie speaks to today with organizations. Yea I know folks call em gangs but they were better than that at one point, shit just got tainted and soured. Mfs today would leave “gang” for dead , they just flex for the internet and act solid about the betterment of the organization. I had a dude I helped out just because of “law”. and he basically took it for granted and could’ve got me doin fed time for some shit he did. Before y’all say I’m stupid, bro put me in some shit I didn’t even know about until after shit started gettin hectic. Bro hit a petty but serious lick with somebody at a job and quit before them people was about to get him. Left me at the job lookin like an accessory cause of some crazy shit that could only happen in a thriller film about mistaken identity. I watched a gang land episode on the west side of chicago and a dude on the street said “it’s all about self preservation out here”. When I did what I did, I did it for knowledge and just to have people that I felt like would be family outside of family. Turns out, them mfs will do you just as grimy as an “opp” or family member would. All for their own personal gain.

South Central is one of the only few hood movies that has a happy ending & it was overshadowed by Boyz N The Hood. It also shows the importance of having a good barber because Jimmy had a bowl haircut. Fun Fact: Willie Manchester’s woman was Smokey’s mama from Friday. This is a great film about father hood and manhood. I enjoyed it as a teenager (some of the acting is goofy as hell 😅) but now as a middle aged father I have a better understanding of this film.

The movie was getting good towards the end "you're not my father who are you". "I gotta go". Those were award winning performances to me🙌🏿🙏🏿. EDIT But now I see if you put the work in and get your life together and they accept you that's the point

I love this movie a classic movie not only it's a hood classic but it's a movie with a message that black man must break the cycle of hatred against one another which is be there for our family and not for the hood because the hood doesn't care about you at all and Ray Ray is a example he used Bobby and the gang to get rich and gain power for himself
