    OSI = open systems interconnection
    Application protocol (Application layer + Presentation layer + Session layer): HTTP
    Transport layer: TCP (Sequence and checksum), UDP
    Network layer: IP
    Data Link layer: MAC
    Physical layer: Bits

    First commenter here. I'm on youtube from 2008. Always wanted to do this specific video to teach this very basics of computer networking concept.. because I have taught this to countless people and engineers of varied fields since this is required for electric/electronics/software engineers alike.. I couldn't have done it better than you! Thank you & lots of love from India. 🔥❤️

      @@raghvendrapotul590 Bro, don't worry. Everyone feels difficult to learn computer science subjects at first.. i was also from pcmb background. even i was feeling like vomitting looking at C programming language at first.. pls use youtube to learn basics and then you will slowly start liking Programming.. good thing is, programming is mostly all about logic.. you don't need mathematics..

      I’m still so confused by it like idk I’ve been reading for days about it and i just can’t grasp what it really even is but this is my first time taking a network course so maybe I just need to give it time

      You're probable a lot like me. I need examples and real world applications in order to conceptualize these concepts. Just do a little digging and watch some TH-cam videos too. That may help.@@kayliejoye5158

    • @peterstedman6140
      @peterstedman6140 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kayliejoye5158 yeah it’s a little weird. lots of “actions” go on to send something from one device to another, and the OSI model is a convenient way of separating/organizing all these processes/protocols into a specific “layer” that contains similar protocols. For example, you’re usually using either UDP or TCP, not both. They both want to be given an http request with data, so they’re in the same layer 4.
      The osi model categorizes all the protocols that determine how you wrap up/encapsulate a bit of data so it can be sent from one device on a network to another, then “unwrap” it until it’s back to being useable data again.

    You are very correct. When I started reading the ccna book 23 years ago, I had a really hard time accepting the many liars, especially the top 3 layer. Then I read the TCP IP model and it made more sense so you are correct. However, it is important to differentiate between tcp and udp by saying tcp needs a connection established first whereas udp does and just shoots away the packets.

    I map the 5th (session layer) into 4th layer. It suits better with the presence of TLS. 6th and 7th layer can be mapped to 5-layer Hybrid model presented in Andrew S. Tanenbaum book 'Computer Networks' 3rd edition, back in 1996. By the way, thanks for visual explanation.

    Thanks for this video a question! As it goes through the network through each hop does the MAC address source and destination change for example.
    COMPUTER A (MAC ADDRESS OF computer A and Router 1)-> router 1(MAC ADDRESS OF router 1 AND ROUTER 2) -> router 2 (MAC ADDRESS OF ROUTER 2 and COMPUTER B)-> COMPUTER B? Also on Transport layer you said this is when segments are numbered Does this mean at this point the data has been broken down to small sections?
