@@JamesHannonAuthor thanks, yes. Been on the boards looking for guidance but haven’t been able to find anyone doing that kind of work so far. I’ll keep looking. Thanks for your reply.
I'm a staff officer for the Ohio Garrison, recently began putting together my build for the TIE pilot. This is proving to be real helpful, thanks! Though I have a question- I see some chest plates kind of curve upward at the bottom rim while some are more flat. Are both designs ok for 501st use? -ID 11201
Glad to be of service! Hmmm that question is a little above my knowledge (it’s been a few years since I did this costume) - have you talked to the jolly Roger folk?
Maroth Gravois Definitely - the JRS folks really know the TIE costume and the up to date specs for it! And congrats on your anniversary - the TIE is my favorite star wars costume - love to tease the TKs by being able to sit comfortably lol
@@JamesHannonAuthor Thanks! I've actually trooped as a TK prior to joining. Can agree sitting is a pain lol. So going to look forward to being more flexible in armor!
@@MarothGravois My first costume was a TK - I remember armor bites in inconvenient places LOL Once I went to the TI, trooping became a lot more comfortable!
Which TIE fighter do you pilot, Standard TIE, TIE Interceptor, TIE Bomber, TIE Defender, or something more exotic (like TIE Prowler/Striker) or experimental (like TIE Advance)?
Hi Jelly, i don't have the chestbox nearby right now, but according to the 501st Jolly Roger page (the experts on the matter), heres what they should be: "What is pictured here is what is left of the “M.O.M” (Magic of Movies) display. However it does clearly show the two gray gears with approximately 20 teeth and a diameter of 1 7/8ths inch on each of the bottom “donut” sections and hoses and proper dimensions of the TIE Pilot chest box." jrs501st.com/?page_id=706
Are the helmet and chestbox/-armor RS Propmasters or different maker? If RS, it was a great choice. They do amazing stuff for a decent price and offer a great service. Andrea is always answering in short time.
me watching this vid with my 3d printed imperial special forces/tie pilot helmet on trynna figure out how to make my eva chest armor more comfortable and allow for downwards head movement

@@Darktoast20 thank you, im a real big star wars fan, but I don't know what stuff to buy, because I want it to look realistic, not like any cheap Disney costume!
I've just got the tie pilot costume I'm almost ready for my approval photos. By the way the costume is a 3 in 1 not a 2 in 1. Tie pilot. Reserve tie pilot. Imperial crewman.
When the original video was posted, the Reserve Pilot wasn't officially approved yet (and I honestly thought it never would be since its pretty much the same as the IC)
I'm becoming a tie pilot soon, I'm in New Jersey
Frank very cool - did you connect with the NER yet?
Awesome. I think I like this more than the Stormtrooper. Think I'll be getting this outfit.
The Stormtrooper is great, but never underestimate the benefits of sitting while in costume :)
That is the truth! I have a sandtrooper kit and I cant wait to receive my tie pilot kit. Much more comfortable .
Wow how cool is that a tie pilot pretty cool
Hi James, great suit! Do you know anyone else that does work on the chestbox for the electronics and fans like Tarq did?

Nope, it was a Dan Laws helmet/chestbox modded by Targ.. After 150+ troops with it, its still going strong

Is the belt pouch for the chatter box custom made or something I may be able to find on line?
It was something I had lying around the house from years earlier - forgot where it came from - probably another costume..
Hello James my name is Kevin are you the tie pilot from the A NEW HOPE film
Are underarmor Balaclavas allowed?
Absolutely - Been wearing one for 8+ years
As long as it covers your neck and exposed areas without visible logos

Does anyone know why some TIE Pilot helmets have grey stripes and some don't?
