- After how well the Persona 3 Reload Party Member Tier List video did it seems you all are interested in seeing more videos like that from me, so in this one I go over every opening in the series, including anime openings, and rank them from "worst" to best. I put worst in quotations because none of them are truly bad, but everyone has their preferences, and this video is meant to show mine!

What is your favorite Persona opening?
Road Less Taken from Persona Q2, not only is the animation incredible, but we got the cast of all 4 games together, and 4 Singers that played a role in the soundtrack of each game. Yep.
My other favorite Persona openings include, Persona 3 Reload, Strikers, Maze of Life, P4A and AU and Ambitions and Visions.
Also I love all of the anime openings for the Persona 4 and 5 animes.
My favorite is p4 vanilla op it's such a banger
Sky’s the Limit… the song is my soul lifting off. Ambitions and Full Moon Full Life are runners up to this emotion tho.
It's a 4 way tie between P5(not royal), P3 (not fes), P3R, and P5S

Well my list is all weird so i rank in order of best opening for every game. For P3 i go with reload(ITS HARD) for P4 i go with The animation ones (AS IT WAS MY FIRST ITERATION WITH P4) and P5, strangely enough i like strikers more because that song shreds. But the song that i keep humming the most at random is the P3fes opening, so....
Pursuing My True Self is my favorite opening too! I haven’t even played 4 yet but the song and animation is so so beautiful
You should give it a play! It's my favorite Persona game!
I mean the fact you can go back and watch the footage of what got each member of the investigation team kidnapped makes pursuing my true self truly peak. I'm glad those shots have actual meaning and arent there just to fit the vibe.

But yeah, I would rank it significantly higher because it just promises a deep story and characters and just feels like you are in for an experience.
It would be in my top 3, debatably #1 if not for P3R
That and P4's Original OP usually are all sharing drinks at the top for me. They just... Felt deeper than a lot of P5's (just compare the little details in P3Dancing's coreography and lyrics to a lot of the other ops, and that is one of the weaker P3 Openings)
I knew the OG P3 and Shadow World placements would cause some discussion but I just had to be honest with how I felt haha. Burn My Dread is still a goated opening though

Agree so hard with your #1 pick. Not only are the visuals perfect (seriously the way they flow between each of the characters and ending with Naoto shooting them... chef's kiss) but Pursuing My True Self is just magnificent. It's also got a very old school anime feel which is a huge bonus.
I'm glad the P3P opening ranked so high, I love it *a lot* and always felt it was super creative to show the whole concept of the Butterfly Effect that they were doing with the male MC vs female MC. Plus it's really cool that you can just flip the PSP around and essentially see a different perspective of the same video - much like playing a different MC for the same game shows you different sides to the same characters and story!
Also, very much agree on how lovely it is to see the P3 cast smiling and having fun. I think that, combined with how well the song invokes nostalgia (it literally starts with "How long has it been?"), is why the P3 Dancing opening is so special to me.
And I *really* love the music for the P2IS and P2EP PSP remakes! I won't spoil since it doesn't sound like you've finished EP yet, but I think the fact that you understood the vibes from the opening despite not knowing the full story means the opening did its job well.

Maze if Life is one of my absolute favorite songs in the franchise. Not only is it hecka pretty par for the of Persona but the song itself Shihoko and Yumi singing about life is so beautfful man like something you'd hear at the end of a musical when they break out into that chorus. Though the song also makes me sad whenever I think about the P3 cast :(
Maze of Life as a song is easily one of the best songs in the series to me for sure. Every time I listen to it I get hype asf and I feel like I can take on the world haha

Persona 1, Heck yeah I would like to hear on what you got to say about P1, and honestly that was ever my first Persona game that I had ever played in the entire series. I was aware of P3, 4 and 5, but always wonder why no one is talking about P1 and 2, so I promise that I would get up to P5 but I will play them in order, I just completed P3P and now heading to P4 Gold, But I would say that P1 I enjoy ^^

I honestly really wanted a Persona 4 remake just like 3 Reload, just for the sake of Atlus releasing more fire opening like Full Moon Full Life (and better graphic… maybe?)
I am very interested to see what Atlus does for a potential Persona 4 remake
Personally I've already ranked all the game openings (at the time) 2 years ago in a really long comment on a opening compilation video and that took me like 5 hours to do (It was summer break, yes I could've and should've been doing something more productive looking back at it.) so while I'll rank all of them I'm not about to go in depth. At least not until the top 5 I can try and see if I can find that video if for some reason people are interested. (+it'll have the new games from post 2022. Also don't care enough to rank the anime openings)
24.P3D (3/10) - Music is cool but I hate the weird ass bubbily effects when the characters make an arm swing. Also I just think it's boring. Though really don't like P3D and P5D so maybe I have bias.
23. Ultimax suplex hold (3/10) (I love the japanese name so much lmao!) - It's boring to me. Most the intro consists of characters slowly introducing themselves. As you'll see I really love the P4U's opening (For anyone who doesn't know P4U is how Arena 1 is abbreviated in Japan and the Arena community.) and I think this intro just fails at what that intro succeeded.
22. P5R (3/10) - To keep it short all I'll say is to me P5's OP to P5R's OP is one of the biggest downgrades I've ever seen
21. P4G (4/10) - Second biggest downgrade i've seen. I'm in that weird minority camp that likes P4OG more than P4G (No it's not just because of Marie.) and this intro isn't helping P4G's case for me.
20. P5T (5/10) - I really enjoyed the game (Prob 3rd favorite spin off behind P4D and Arena games.) but this intro wasn't it to me. Theme is cool and like you said I've come to love the art style but this intro just isn't it for me.
19. P1 PSX (5.5/10) - Not very entertaining but does a fine job at setting up the events of the game I guess. Still would watch this before watching 24-21 tbh lol.
18 P3 FES (5.7/10) - Music goes incredibly hard. Kind of has that Sonic Adventure effect where very MAJOR events happen in here but at the same time there's no context so it'd fine. besides that aspect the music is carrying here.
17. P5S (6.5/10) - While I don't think this game is the jesus christ savior of spinoffs like a lot of people do this game was good and it's intro is neat. You basically explained why i'm fond of this one.
16 and 15. P2 IS and EP PSX (7/10) - Music is bumping and sets up the games events well. Also has a lot of charm to it as it does have dated 1999 and 2000 CGI mixed with illustrations of the characters. also I'm a P2 shill so I might be slightly biased.
14. PQ2 (7/10) - This intro is animated beautifully especially when the protags use their personas but the intro feels bloated (Much like the game.). This is more of the problem with the games story itself (I'd honestly say it's the worst game when it comes to writing tbh.) the opening spends so much time going through the cast that it loses it's focus to me.
13. P4D (7.5/10) - A good intro. It's kind of obvious that they animated over actual irl dancing (I'm absolutely not blaming the animation team though.) So it can look awkward when it's introducing the characters but still fairly cute. Also Dance is indeed fire.
12. P3R (7.5/10) - Sorry to say but I just don't think this opening is as great as everyone else says it is. Nothing really wrong with it but it's just not the absolute goat to me.
11. P3P (8/10) - I really love a lot of the yin yang imagery in this opening. Use to not like Soul Phase but have come around to it. Also smaller point ik but at the end they have Fuuka on Makoto's side. as a Fuuka and Fuuka x Makoto shill I'll take whatever table scraps I can get lol.

10. P5D (8/10) - As i've said I hate P5D almost as much as P3D but this intro is just so appealing to me. For one I love how this opening uses Red. 2. the PT's dancing outfits are actually by the fair the best dance wear out of the 3 games. and 3. Idk I just really like Groovy. Surprise I like this opening so much and some would probably crucify me for having it over P3R (Or anything over P3R really.) but here we are.
9. P1P (8/10) - I really enjoy this opening even though it just reuses CG cutscenes from the game. The visuals and song actually very much align with Maki and her whole arc in the game. Also yes purple is the best color.
8. PQ1 (8.5/10) - Playing this game feels like force feeding nails into my mouth but OP is pretty gas! Character interactions are very cute (Kanji,Koromaru,Shinji,Ken, and Naoto makes sense as a group now that I think about it.) but also teases what's to come. Also when you the plot of the game the lyrics about how meeting people can make something as wild as life worth it is very inspiring and heart warming. Best part of the game to me.
7. P5X (8.8/10) - Ambitions and Visions has literally taken over my life. I play this song any time I get the chance, in class, taking a shower, walking, etc. Said it in the comments of the P5X video and I'll say it again it's my 2nd favorite vocal theme. When it comes to raw animation is the best with it's only competition being P5OG. This intro is just so beautiful. Hopefully it never get s P5R type rerelease to ruin this intro.
6. P4U (8.9/10) - It's interesting that you said the P4U2's intro is P4U's intro but better but honestly I'd say the opposite tbh. More action actually goes on here than "Character A walks onto frame *Flash portrait* Character B punches onto frame *Flash portrait*." Characters actually use moves that they do in the actual game. I find that this intro is better setting up an "underground slobber knocker tournament with very few rules". I think the red actually sells this as it makes the P1 Grand Prix feel like it's warranted being a late show tv program. This is also probably just me but tbh I'm more of a fan of P4U as a cross over and think it's the best cross over in the series. The P3 characters are not shown that much yes but that's because they're not intruders that weren't intended to be in the tournament in the first place. As such they have have these quick and mysterious shots that you'll if you played P3 you'd know who these guys are but if you don't you'd still have the intrigue on who are they and how they get mixed with the P4 cast. Overall love this intro and while I respect your opinion just thought I'd post on why I think this intro is leagues above Ultimax's intro.
5. P2IS Portable (9/10) - Song is mid but visuals some of the best if not the best when setting up the game. What really impresses me is how much thought are put into shots that are lighting fast. Could be number 1 if I liked Unbreakable Tie.
4. P2EP Portable (9.2/10) - Same quality as the previous intro for different reasons but I just like the song way more. Significantly less fast paced but still has some great shots in here.
3. P3 OG (9.5/10) - Close to being my favorite but tbh I think Burn my Dread is mid. People praise it's use of blue and while it's definitely well earned it also uses red in an engaging way too. I find it's very minimalistic approach is very graceful and beautiful especially as it contrasts the other animated cutscenes which have that signature 2000's edge all over them (Which Is why I honestly prefer them to the Reload animated cut scenes tbh.)
2. P5 OG (10/10) - I'll take this as another opportunity to kick down on P5R's opening. it's an absolute tragedy that this got replaced. Every single movement just feels so rebellious I honestly don't know how the animators pulled it off tbh. the shot where the velvet twins (who have color.) pose to introduce Igor who's grayed out is such a crazy visual detail. Also WGGOT is a great song. It's not number 1 but to me this intro could not have been better (Okay maybe if this intro had Makoto and Haru in it more but that's extreme personal bias lol.)
1. P4 OG (11/10) We have the same number 1's lol! You hit the nail on the head but there's one detail I want to point out. The words are the lyrics but they aren't the lyrics actually being said when on the song when they play. the lyrics are actually a little ahead and notice how it's the lyrics are processed differently when each character are on the screen. I think it's supposed to represent that we abound with so much information, almost way to much to process at once and that the different ways the lyrics come on is representative on how each person handles the same info differently. When Naoto appears since she's presented as the brains of the group she easily and nonchalantly blows it away. I may be reaching tbh but I like to think it's intended. One thing I do think is intentional is look at how at the montage at the end. They're all recorded using a different type of camera which I think is neat. Ngl I'd say this game makes P4's plot look cooler than it actually is tbh.
Overall I'd say your list is neat even if I disagree with a lot.

I fucking love the Persona 4 opening. Everything is so perfect. It captured the theme of the game, the personality of the characters and their issues, the relevance of the TVs, and god damn. THE FUCKING SONG ITSELF TELLS THE ESSENCE OF PERSONA 4.
That's why I fucking hate Golden for changing the intro. Fucking shadow world is just goofy as fuck for me and it turns me off from playing the game.
Btw. Dude, you gotta rank the Ending Songs now for your next upload. I haven't seen a vid ranking the endings nor have someone analyze them. Be the first one!

Mainly because I haven’t played it so I have no emotional attachment to it. I plan on playing Persona 1 very soon, though, so maybe my thoughts will change!

Okay, I do agree that p4g is lower on my list than some other openings, but I disagree with shadow world being bad
I think my least favorite opening is the Persona 4 Golden opening for the game. It is jarring and feels too upbeat compared to the tone of the actual game. Also, that earpiercing harmonica the very second it starts solidifies the harmonica as my least favorite instrument. Imagine having headphones on or having the speaker volume loud. It is practically a jumpscare.
The game is about a murder mystery and characters trying to find purpose and not be ashamed of their inner selves.
I think Persona 3 Reload has the best one because it perfectly sets the tone and you could interpret some symbolism if you want from it. Like the shot of Junpei greeting someone only for the color pallete to shift and darken and clearly implying a traumatic death with him looking horrified.

The P5 Dancing is the only opening I hate, its the only one I would say is bad
I can’t say it’s necessarily bad but it isn’t one I would choose to go back to often
Personally I like GROOVY but yeah the part where they force the instrumentals of the P5 intro near the end of the song really kills this song for me because everything else is so good.
