They have been meticulous labelling each part as it comes off the organ and hopefully there's ample photos & video footage to help them re-assemble it. But yes, an expert on these instruments would help a lot.

3 days to take it apart, 3 months at least to put it back together again. The restored chapel and organ has got to be made available to the local community and then at least part of the convent will be an asset and focal point for them again.

More tears from me - Alex’s fantastic videography, the music, the empty space ….. So sorry I couldn’t be there for the last day, but thank you to everyone for finishing off the vacuuming and sweeping. Well done to Nick for fitting it all in. For all the comments about the distance being walked. Yes, it was a long way from where the organ was to the parking area - the cathedral is big 😀. We will all be reuniting in France to help with at least some of the rebuilding of the organ, but it will be a very long project and there is no rush. The weather didn’t help (we had floods to get through on our drive home). Thank you to the cathedral staff for their support; through the noise (which echoed amazingly around the cathedral), dust and the many hours involved. Thank you for being so welcoming, and the cafe for the hot drinks and fabulous food (they are open 10.30 am to 2.30 pm if you are visiting Norwich). It was a once in a lifetime experience for us all (although we did say we could hire ourselves out as an organ dismantling team 😂), and I am definitely glad that we drove the long distance from Wales to meet the whole team and witness the close friendships. My final thanks go to Billy for having the imagination to know that the convent chapel needs an organ, and to Father Paul for contacting Billy (and for your hours of physical work, incredible knowledge and sense of humour). I will be publishing a blog post with some of the photos and videos I took, but I need to rest first ❤️

Bravo Billy and all the team. What an achievement. Moonlight Sonata was inspired Alex, as was the cinematography. This needs an award in the YT oscars. Thank you Norwich Cathedral for your gift and for being such a beautiful location. Maybe one day, when the organ is rebuilt and working, we could have a simultaneous recital of some music from the chapel and from Norwich Cathedral, so that both organs can connect together again. Hope the trip home goes well. 😍🙏🤞

I was struck with the fact that if every subscriber to this channel donated just a dollar (or a euro, a pound, or whatever small currency from their country,)the new organ fund would be well on its way for the cathedral. The last time we moved long distance, the movers loaded a Louis Philippe double dresser at the head of a huge van.
Unfortunately, it rained heavily during transit. Due to a leak overhead at the points where the roof and wall at the back of the van met, water poured down onto the dresser top. It was ruined.

I loved hearing Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata as the background music. That was one of my favorite pieces when I was taking piano lessons as a child.

What an awesome job was done by the whole crew, including clean up. Safe travels back to France. I can’t even imagine the huge job it will be to put it back together. Waiting to see this adventure continue.

Billy, I think it is amazing that you were able to get your hands on such an amazing piece of history. I think it’s doubly amazing that you could fit it all into the van. However, who’s going to to put it back together? You? Michael? Or will you have a professional put it together? I haven’t missed a minute of this proses.

Same! I want to see the series combined when it is all completed in like a 60-min. vid. I really believe it is quality enough for mainstream media.

😮 BILLY, I hope you're able to put a label/piece of paper on the back of the Orgon showing where it came from and how it was acquired for the convent. Blessings

it's wild to think that the wood on that organ hasn't seen the sun for over 150 years. Of course it didn't see the sun on this day either, so there's that. It makes me wonder what the weather was like the day it was installed. Was it raining on that day, too? Was it sunny? Was it cold? Maybe it was a warm day. Maybe it was hot! (That's a long shot in England. LOL) The rain is like the sky is crying, saying goodbye to the lovely organ, "Goodbye lovely organ! Make beautiful music where ever you go, make people smile and sing! You will be missed!"
P.S. Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata was the PERFECT piece for moving the organ! Loved it!
