I own one too with a lot of rust underneath but at the end, I succeeded in putting most of it in good repair. Mine is diesel.

They are fab vans pal, I picked on up in March 2021 vest thing I ever did. Mines a 1991 2.4 swb. Treat it right and it’ll last you for years to come bud 👍

I'd love a T4 but yours is exactly why I'm going to get a Nissan elgrand instead. Most likely an E50, if not the E51. People claim T4's are reliable but then so was Triggers broom.
My t4 had many hidden gems...I took it to a local guy who was confident he could tidy her up in two weeks-the more he sorted one area it would expose more issues. Nearly 3 months later...still not finished but when she is she should last another decade or more..she’s 30 next year, cannot wait to get her out and about once again..good luck with your project, get used to frustration and disappointment as well as satisfaction and contentment, they all come in equal measures.
I totally understand that! He’s been away for about 3 weeks now, got to the point when welding him it was just blowing new holes. Thankfully should have it back tomorrow all going to plan!

Yeah I think so! I think for the most part, he’s back together now. Just got various mechanical bits to sort as well now!
I own a vw t4 and love it busy with a 1.8t conversion but the first tools to have when owning a vw t4 is a welder and grinder😂

I have bought a wreck of a t4 . After tinkering with it for about a year I have just put an MOT on it today .

Am another vw t4 infant any vw lol mine is built but am going to change it lol I want to stick a 05 passat automatic 2l turbo diesel but been told can't be done . Does any one know otherwise ???? Ps subed lol

Everyone should watch this video before they wax lyrical about T4s. The T5 was different, not quite the rust bucket but 1000 things wrong with the engines. I have a less fashionable Vauxhall Vivaro, but is is not only cheaper to buy and fix, but it is 100 times better than the VW. Engines/gearboxes and almost no rust. Good luck with your venture. My rule about rust, "if it looks a bit iffy...it is almost certainly a nightmare". The black is not a good either, white is boring but best for showing rust damage.
