- A month in the making, in this video guide I’ll be sharing my game strategy for the 2048 game, as well as general tips and tricks on how to win the game. Many find 2048 a difficult game to beat, and that’s why I’ve spent a ton of time figuring out a solid game strategy, that gives you far better chances on how to beat the game. My 2048 guide here won’t give you a 100% chance to win, but it’ll vastly improve your odds.
Before going into the strategy of the game, if you aren’t familiar with it, this is what Wikipedia says:
“2048 is a single-player puzzle game created in March 2014 by 19-year-old Italian web developer Gabriele Cirulli, in which the objective is to slide numbered tiles on a grid to combine them and create a tile with the number 2048. It can be regarded as a type of sliding block puzzle, and is very similar to the Threes! app released a month earlier.

2048 is played on a simple gray 4×4 grid, with numbered tiles that slide smoothly when a player moves them using the four arrow keys. Every turn, a new tile will randomly appear in an empty spot on the board with a value of either 2 or 4. Tiles slide as far as possible in the chosen direction until they are stopped by either another tile or the edge of the grid. If two tiles of the same number collide while moving, they will merge into a tile with the total value of the two tiles that collided. The resulting tile cannot merge with another tile again in the same move.”

So, now you know the basic idea behind this crazy puzzle game! The 2048 tips and tricks I’ll be sharing here, as I said, won’t guarantee you a victory in the game, but with this strategy, your chances on how to win will certainly go up. Some might say it takes the “puzzle game” aspect out of a game like 2048, but sometimes you just get frustrated, and need a little 2048 guide to help you on your way. Fear not, these tricks are sure to help you out!
The main part of the strategy for winning in 2048, is essentially keeping numbers down on the right side. The first part we’ll go through, is basically going right, and down. At all times, we’re trying to keep the numbers down in the lower right corner, which I find is the fastest way to win, and if I can give you any 2048 tips, that would be a major one.
Around the mid-game, we’ll start building upwards, but we’re only doing this to press the tiles down into the right bottom corner again, as we chain them together. This is one of the key components on how to win in 2048, at least for the tips and game strategy that I’ve developed.
It is also around this point, where I show you why and how a good strategy like this can fail in the 2048 game, and why no matter how many tips and tricks I would teach you, you’ll never have a 100% success rate at winning. So when discussing 2048 strategy, always keep this in mind, no matter how many 2048 tips you get, you’ll never be guaranteed a win.
And once we get near the end, you can see how the entire 2048 game strategy comes together in one giant work of awesomeness, as we chain everything and suddenly the win greets us quickly.

2048 has often been compared to the game “Flappy Bird”, both in reviews as well as in publications, in that they are both based on previous games, however they both ended up more successful. Further, both Flappy Bird as well as 2048, have been described as incredibly addictive, and have lead to many clones of the game being made. However, the creator of 2048 has said that he doesn’t experience, at least not the same degree, the stress that creator of Flappy Bird did.
In April, The Washington Post, merely a month after 2048’s release, wrote the following:
“Angry Birds was at least amusing. Flappy Bird was comical in its dumb futility. But there is really no explaining the appeal of 2048, the nerdy, minimalist, frustrating Internet game that a 19-year-old coded in March… and has since taken the Internet by storm.”

Thank you so much for going slowly and explaining each move! This is the kind of tutorial I've been looking for. I generally have trouble getting better than 512, although if I'm very careful I can get to 1024, but that's pretty rare. Now I think I see what I've been doing wrong. I'm going to try this out and see how far it takes me!
EDIT: Using this strategy I am now able to get 1024 relatively easily, but some combination of stupid mistake and bad luck is giving me a hard time getting further, but I just need more practice. Thanks again, you legit improved my game!
2nd EDIT: One day later, I got my first 2048 score. I still need a lot of practice to achieve this reliably, but it's a tremendous improvement over how I used to do.
3rd EDIT: I just got a 4096 tile two games in a row. The second time I even had a 1024 tile right next to it. Thanks again!

Thanks for making this video, because I could never figure out how to get to 2048 until now. I play this game on Marapets and I only get to 512 and that's it because I would always run out of moves, so with your helpful tips and strategy. I can now beat this game!
Sadly, every time that you had to do the “luck“ of the draw, it worked out in your favor. I was really hoping that you were going to get yourself into a bind and show how to work your way out of that. Everything went your way. I wish it always went my way.
For some of us you really need to dumb it down. We Cant see which buttons you are pressing . Its the best video I found just giving feedback. You cant beat this game with luck thats for sure. I just need it slowed down
You video is great but I'm 65 years old and the last time I played a video game (besides Pong, yes PONG) was when Mario Brothers came out! I joined "Reframe", which an app to learn to abstain from alcohol but I'll be dammed I can figure this game out. Like I said it's a really good video but It goes WAY to fast for my old brain and I can't tell when you are going up or down...Can you do it in slow motion?! LOl

thank you this did help a lot but I have one problem. I always get to the tile 1024 but I never can make it past that point. My tile spaces would always fill up and I would lose. Please comment some suggestions I could use if u can. Thank you
