I have this one. The i7 5700xt 64gb ram and 1tb 2020 iMac. That machine is like a Ferrari engine inside of a tank. Such a beast! And yes, it does get hot and the fans do come on often but I don't mind since my room is generally cool.
3:33 Currently have a hackintosh on my Acer Aspire E1-572 Intel i3-4010u from 2013. It's not really perfect but its what I use for college hope to upgrade some of its spec soon when I save money
I’ve had a 2015 MacBook Pro and basically stopped using it because of how hot the Radeon R9 M370X would get. Ironically now that it’s no longer supported in the latest macOS the community support for the Radeon has gotten it to perform better.
I still got a 2014 15", and it still runs perfectly fine! I've been using it with opencore legacy patcher, and a 1TB ssd upgrade, and it works really well for almost everything I do (development work and schoolwork). I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy one now, due to them going out of support, and also with them being an Intel Mac, but for people that have them, you can definitely eke out several more years out of them!
@@adityadarekar5497 I know OWC has some, but they're a little pricy compared to regular nvme drives. You _could_ just get an adapter for nvme ssds, which is extremely cheap and is as easy as upgrading the drive on its own. Then all you'd need is a decent nvme ssd, and that'll probably be faster than what you could get with apple's proprietary SSDs for these 2015 machines anyway I've been considering doing this to my own 15" 2015 MBP, but I have an external hard drive that I have plugged into it for project files and backups, as well as things in the cloud
I have a 15’ 2015 MBP and it got me through my entire doctorate program with very few issues. I had to replace the battery and speakers but that’s it. Even though I have a 14’ Lenovo 9i I spend about 85% of my time on the MBP. I think I’m going to buy another one just in case this one dies. It’s more than I’ll ever need.
Exactly this one is what I biought and got yesterday. 2.8Ghz for $200. Swapped out the ailing Apple SSD for a 1TB WD SSD and now it screams. This will be my dedicated music notation workstation BECAUSE it's maxed out with Monterey - there will be no more Apple updates that will break compatibility with my favourite music notation software.
M2 air (gasp). perfect fit for me. part of my workflow are simulations that run from 0.1 - 100 sec, so not concerned with thermal throttling. 2014 13" pro still going strong as well (battery just sucks, but still gives an hour on light work/streaming after almost 10 yrs!)
i was hesitated to choose between the m1 air and the 2015 mbp a few months ago. Eventually I chose the m1 and it's been blowing my mind since for its performance, but had i known this prior, i would have chosen this to save a bit of money. Still it's nice to know that i can recommend this to anyone who's looking for a cheap mac to get started.
My 2019 i7 16gb MBP is running great and the battery life is still solid. I have no plans to upgrade probably for many years. That said, I would 100% buy the M1 MBA at these prices if I needed a new laptop. It’s powerful enough for 99% of users.
Just bought a 2019 16" MBP, 1TB, 32GB, 8GB 5500M, with 150 cycles the other day for $697, ($749 with tax). It's gonna be my first ever mac, pretty excited for it, It feels like a pretty good deal for the specs and form factor :)
I had the 2015 13" MBP, think it was 2.9GHz i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD. I remember when the 2016 model came out, and I thought to myself how lucky I was to have gotten the 2015 model, since aside from there being a 19 month long gap between updates (March 2015 to October 2016), I got the last model to have the ports and function keys. Thought I'd managed to avoid the 2016 redesign entirely, until the M1 MBP came out and I immediately bought it despite the 2 USB-C ports and missing function keys. And that's what I've been using for the past 4 years, always hated the design and I'm so glad to have finally sold it today in preparation for getting an M4 Pro MBP.
I currently have a 2015. 15” MacBook Pro! ☺️ not as powerful as yours, but tbh I do love it. And love when you post videos about it! I remember mentioning openCore to you before and asking your thoughts about putting it on this machine once it no longer gets security updates… may I ask your thoughts on that now? Probably the same as before! I really don’t want to now and wouldn’t put it on my mac now - no need and would hate to screw it up! I am quite fond of my Mac! lol. The one I owned before this was more powerful and had a cd drive but didn’t need a powerful Mac when I got this. Also got it at a big discount ( it was brand new from the store, but it was the previous model at the time , on sale and read heaps of reviews about all the models then and this was the pick!) sorry for rambling 😂 Thank you 😊
Thanks for watching as always! Yeah I’m fairly unchanged about opencore. If you’re really vying for a feature on Sonoma or Ventura right now, might be worth updating if you can follow a guide. Otherwise I genuinely see no reason to on the 2015 right now. I’d leave it until you’re not getting security updates, which will be late this year at earliest. Not a problem lol. Always enjoy responding to comments
@@montaguebarnabasltd thanks! No im definitely not wanting to! I really don’t want to mess with my Mac, especially since there is no reason to now. I can’t see myself doing it ☺️ guess I just wondered how you still felt ☺️
My family has an 13 inch early 2015 retina MacBook Pro with the base specs, but it works very well for basic tasks such as MS word and PowerPoint. I got my first MacBook which is a late 2007 model to use as a DVD player.
I’m rocking a 2012 non retina 15 inch pro. The keyboard is amazing, and I like that I can upgrade the RAM and storage very easily. Worst part is battery life, but it still gets 3-4 hours. The nvidia 650m gives enough power for what I need to do (light photo and video edits), and OPCL got me to OS 13.
i have a 2019 mac book pro, 32 gb ram, icore 7 cpu and 1 tb of ssd. Is the version with the touchbar screen in the keyboard. I really love this computer. The only problem now is the battery is getting old and i do not know how easy or expensive is the change
I have a few M1+ laptops in my house but I still really wanted an Intel based MacBook for bootcamp. I just found a PRISTINE 2019 16 inch 32gb/1tb Radon 5500 MacBook for $450 bucks. Super happy with it so far! Crazy as this was a $3199 laptop back in 2019 haha
Great video! I’m still rocking a MacBook Prob15” (Mid 2014). It’s started to show its age but can still handle almost anything I throw at it. I nee ld a new trackpad though as mine has failed! 😂
Back in 2018 I bought a 2015 11.6” MacBook Air for my daily driver. It was the low spec 4GB one. Which is way too low these days so I mainly use for Creative writing now. In 2022 I picked up a 2014 13” MacBook Pro for $149 to replace it as my daily driver. Last year I replaced the battery in it with an iFixit kit one and upgraded the 128GB SSD to a 500GB. I’m mostly happy with my upgrades I just wish I could upgrade the RAM to 16GB.
Wish to ask, cus i want to get a macbook 15 pro 16GB ram and 512 this december but am a tittle bit bothered about the intel macos laptops not getting maintenance as from march 2025. I am a web developer , what is the advice you will give me? any suggestions please😢
if you saw my other comment, this one is serious for the most part i agree, i got a late 2013 macbook pro, i am using it as my 2nd laptop and i mostly use my modern 16 inch 2021. i got the 2013 for about 200$ at the time. and it just works. it has the same resolution as the 2019 15" but a little less color and brightness.
I used to upgrade my MacBook every 2 or 3 years - until I bought THIS exact model! I power use it almost every day of my life! One thing that keeps me from upgrading (besides shelling out for a new mortgage) is that I truly need the Intel chip in it to run Windows. I so wish I could say goodbye to Windows, but if I did that, I would have to spend $10,000 Canadian dollars in new software to bring give me the Mac equivalent! No joke! Bottom line tho; this was the best Mac for the time - there ever was.., for my needs anyway!
I daily drive a MacBook 2015 pro 13inch and it's kinda heating up these days. Does worn battery affect that?? i mean Mac's battery cycle count is around 1100 when i last checked.
Yeah you’d be surprised at how far a dodgy battery can affect your Mac’s performance. If you have to get important stuff done on it, it’s probably worth getting a new battery for $30-50. Could help a lot. With that in mind, newer OSes and apps do heat up the parts more, as they’re more demanding. If the slowdown is really significant, it could well be the battery, and I’d say go for a replacement.
does your fan do anything about it? i've been using a 13 inch before my 15 inch too with the same battery cycles. when i got it in 2023 i cleaned the macbook and the fans and reapplied new thermal paste and the fans were deactivated for most of the things i did. completely silent, that was incredible. maybe try that before changing the battery if it's still fine. mine was at 80% battery health still.
I’m still using my 2012 MacBook Pro. Upgraded it to an SSD, and 32 gb memory, it’s working fine for basic video editing and grabbing videos from Video8 tapes. I’ll keep it going until something serious breaks now.
This or a 2013 Mac Pro is what I’m looking at for my next system. I run a 2012 Mac Pro that eats electric for breakfast and has NVRAM issues making it impossible to run anything higher than Catalina with OCLP and, after buying a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter and Thunderbolt 2 cable for future use with a 2012 Mac Mini I use for lighter tasks, an active miniDisplayport cable blew the Thunderbolt port. I managed to replace it with a used server version with a 2.6Ghz i7 version I have upgraded to 16GB but the Thunderbolt on that doesn’t work anymore either. I could get a 2.5 or 2.8Ghz with the dedicated GPU and it would be halfway between the speed of the Mac Mini and Mac Pro. The used prices seem to be around £300-400 which isn’t off the cards for me by later in the year. I also have a 1TB NVMe I can use in either system with a simple adapter. I currently run both Pro Tools and Reason on the Mac Mini with a bunch of IZotope and Waves plugins and never managed to hit a brick wall of CPU power I couldn’t get around by increasing buffer sizes.
I’d recommend this over a 2013 MP! Power savings, potential heat issues on the trashes and more might be worth considering. Scary to hear about the blown port! Thanks for watching, and for your insight.
@@montaguebarnabasltd Thanks for the advice. It would be handy to have a portable system. I could also get any number of Thunderbolt docks to use the MacBook with to make use of the Thunderbolt 3 adapter.
If you’re in the US, Walmart is selling the base model M1 MacBook Air for under $700 before tax. If you’re looking for a portable Apple silicon Mac that is brand new and with a warranty this may be your best bet
I have a 2019 i7 16" MacBook Pro. While using Lightroom for basic photo editing, even with just one image, the laptop overheats quickly. The fans become loud, and becomes laggy. It's frustrating given the laptop's specs.
Use the "dental floss" battery removal trick when swapping batteries on the 2015's. Wear safety glasses and gloves! The battery was the biggest flaw in these machines. Many of the screens have keyboard marks but don't notice them while the machine is running.
I have a Mid 2015 MBP with 16 GB RAM and Intel Iris graphics, just fresh after the 2nd battery replacement. Oh, this is my last Apple notebook, I HATE how irreparable they become.
I paid $1,300 for a base model MBP 13" 4 years ago, a month before apple released the M1, that was not that long ago, and I just cannot drop a bunch of money on a new computer right now. I hope I can get at least 4 more years out of it.
So recently at my job, we acquired old MacBook Pros. Both are Intel i7 4 core CPUs with 16gb of DDR3 ram. Pretty ok all things considered. One is a 15 inch 2017 while the other was a smaller 2019 model. The biggest difference is that the 2017 has Radeon graphics while the 2019 only has Iris. What I find ridiculous is that, technically, the 2017 is more powerful than the 2019. However, because Apple said so, it cannot officially upgrade to the newest version of MacOS. That is absolutely stupid.
I have the exact same 15 inch mid-2015 Macbook Pro (same processor, RAM, and AMD GPU). I purchased it new in June of 2015 for more than $3000. It now runs macOS Ventura, thanks to OCLP. I agree on all of what you say, except on the speakers: they are AWFUL. It's a shame. Only mids and highs, no bass. My 12 inch 2016 Macbook and M1 2020 Macbook Air have a much better sound. Oh, and a note of caution about this model: the battery has a tendency to swell. I should not say "a tendency". It WILL swell after 3 to 4 years. I had to replace mine twice already. Every time, it has swollen so much that the glass touchpad was about to crack. I'm lucky it didn't. I now pay much attention to the battery in this model, and I have installed an utility to prevent it from charging above 75%.
Had to replace the swollen battery on my 2015 MBP too. Mine happened because I always kept it plugged in but now I have Al Dente to help with power management. OCLP really saved me a lot of money. If it brings support for macOS 15, I shall be even more happy.
I'm awaiting delivery of a 2013 15" MacBook Pro with the top spec of that time. Should be sufficient for Ableton Live and Recordbox, which are the most demanding programs I'd run on it. I daily a MacPro4,1 flashed as a 5,1 with Intel Xeon X5680, 48GB RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD and AMD Radeon RX 5700 so I didn't need a really powerful MacBook, though I took 2 weeks deciding which one to get. I considered an M1 Air, and was very close to getting a 15" i9 2019 but then decided to spend less (£150 for the 2013 vs £500 ish for the i9) though the i9 had the added benefit of a US keyboard, which I prefer.
Seeing my comment as you were scrolling down the list was funny, there is still no in-between when it comes to having an SD card slot, you either can get a 2015 MacBook Pro or have to shell out $2,000 on an M series macbook and if i ever get an M series macbook it will need 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD at the bare minimum. My 2009 17" MacBook has the 2TB SSD so it's used for storing files that i still need but not actively using and i watch TH-cam on it because the 17" screen is so good, I actually like how big the macbook is and one thing i noticed when burning my first cd was how fast it burned and how fast it rips the CDs. I know exactly what you mean in regards to the speakers on the 2015, it sounds so immersive and everything sounds better on it, when it came to music production, it has sped up my process by so much and that's when i realised why a lot of the industry uses macs/macbooks and not windows.
Breaking the fourth wall there lmao True about the SD card. Plugging something into a USB port doesn’t give you the same experience either. I’m on the way to securing a 17” Pro. Not sure entirely where it’s going to be used, but it’s just SO good looking.
@@montaguebarnabasltd Oh cool, just message the seller to ask if it randomly shuts down or shuts down while booting because that's what my first one did and died within 2 months
Im using a 2017 macbook air i5 and 8gb ram. It’s not the most powerful but for my student work it still gets the job done, will do an ssd upgrade to give it 1 or 2 extra years of life. And with opencore it is still up to date
i have a 13 inch mid 2012 MBP upgraded to SSD and 16GB RAM; I do copy photography and edit via lightroom and PS, light to moderate heavy design work on PS and AI, edit iPhone videos on Final Cut. I use Chrome exclusively and run 2-3 user profiles with multiple tabs open. Cuphead runs with no lag, untitled goose game runs, Borderlands 2 as well. This cheap machine does it all. sometimes it gets hiccups or takes a while to load some stuff but i never feel slow on this thing. have been using it since 2021. had a board issue somewhere between now and then but it was a cheap fix to replace. the SATA flex cable can go out but its an even cheaper replacement at the equivalent of 3USD and some waiting time from China. I love this machine. I've been meaning to get a 2020 air once this thing conks out, but it's still going steady.
I currently use a Unibody 2012 MBP (13”). It’s incredible how it can run sonoma so well (at least for my basic tasks, I use catalina for heavier tasks ) The battery life is garbage and the HD4000 graphics won’t last too long so i will upgrade to the M2 MBA eventually
2012 retina still going strong! 16/256 was definitely the way to go as I only recently upgraded it to 1TB with OWC's upgrade kit and gave OCLP a shot where I'm now running Ventura (Sonoma had some issues). I would love to upgrade and se what kind of performance I'm missing out on but it seems so wasteful to abandon a laptop that does what I need it to do reasonably well. Some Logic/Photoshop...It handled After Effects and FCPX pretty well back in its prime but I quit TH-cam after 6 channels lol My PC was originally i5 4430 and upgraded to i7 8600 in 2019 (hint that CPU was a few years old). I really want a trash can 2013 Mac Pro though, it's ancient but would blow both of my machines out of the water. But I can't find a reason to get one other than I want it.
Well, the only reason I can think of getting a 2013 MP is the collectors appeal! Sounds like you’ve got the right idea with your Retina 2012 though. Nice machine!
Just opened up and renewed thermal paste on i7 6920HQ and AMD 455 CPU and graphics chip on my MBP 2016, with the unpopular touchpanel. For me, new to Macs, the machine is a delight, very clean inside, couple of minor dinks on edges, but I won the auction with £210.00 bid.
I have a 2019 MBP i5, 16GB, 256 Gb, and it is still running like new and running much better than any other windows laptop ( or desktop) that I've touched
I use the base model macbook pro 13" with I5 and 8gb of ram. Been thinking of upgrading to M1 maybe later this year. mine has been amazing for a college student and I only have problem when using zoom apps as it starts to get very hot and laggy when I use zoom. one particular time I couldn't even join the breakroom and having to switch the zoom into my phone😔
It’s nice to compare it that way, and I didn’t know that was the difference, ngl, but realistically M1 walks all over the 2015. Clock speed is largely irrelevant.
I have opportunity to buy my old work 2019 Intel I9 with 32GB RAM MacBook Pro for $600 but it has run hot as hell and loud as a jet engine since new and the thing’s battery can’t last more than like 2 hours. My new work M3 Pro is quiet, cool, fast, and can run almost two work days on battery!
Thanks for watching! I think the Intel Macs will be out this year. MacOS 15 will be M1 and later. That’s my bet, anyway. MAYBE they’ll work something out since enterprise groups probably spent a lot on those 2019 Mac Pros. (The 2009/10 Plastic MacBooks got a lot of updates likely since schools and offices bought so many). Just speculation really. I don’t think an update is likely though.
thanks! No im definitely not wanting to! I really don’t want to mess with my Mac, especially since there is no reason to now. I can’t see myself doing it ☺️ guess I just wondered how you still felt ☺️
I'm hoping to renovate my 2011 17-inch MacBook Pro which eventually succumbed to the AMD GPU debacle. I still love this machine and it still looks majestic sitting on its stand. It was once a proud top-of-the-line machine and now it's in mothballs :(
My company just discharged all of i7 15” 2018 MBP and sell it to employees for around 10,000 thb (270 usd) is it worth buying it?I never use mac before.
@@montaguebarnabasltd thanks, i have another question, if apple discontinued to support it, will it still useable? I just use it for basic office work and social media.
i search for a couple of years an intel macbook, in order to pair it with my m1 mac mini (base model), for a secondary mac used in an other room of my house....what do you suggest???
If you’re going Intel, I can’t recommend this 2015 15” enough. If you don’t need a big screen, something like the 2018-19 Intel Air is nice looking, and the latter has Sonoma as a default upgrade. If you don’t need much performance, the 2013 MacBook Pro lineup is nice looking and still gets the job done. Both the 13 and 15 I’d recommend.
Typing on a 15 inch Late 2013 MB NVIDIA with 16GB of ram. Replaced a few keys, battery, some hinge issue. Designed for idiots like me who drop gear now and then. Great computer
i have a early 2015 13 inch macbook pro with the dual core i5 still workslike a champ the battery is going to be dead soon m not planning o upgrade it works way better than my i5 hp similar specks
price is boring ?? ya i guess it is a bit. My previous Mac was: 2018 MacBook Air 16Gig RAM 512 Gig SSD and Intel UHD 617 Graphics To be fair i only replaced the battery *once* in its lifetime (myself.... ah, they were the days). Now, you gotta swear when ripping it apart.
Literally watching this on the exact machine this video is about! Well the one with the amd gpu at least. i adore this laptop and its done everything ive needed it to perfectly in the time ive had it. I used open core to upgrade it to ventura And put purple cellophane between the keyboard and the keyboard backlight to make the keys light up purple like some of hugh jeffreys old videos doing the same to the a1278 mbp. looks SO cool and makes it quite the eye catcher. Tho its a fair bit of effort to remove everything in the computer to do it. I wont lie i ripped the original backlights cable and had to replace it. But it was cheap and once i got that everything else went back together fine. But yeah overall i feel the 2015 is still the best macbook ever made and have no plans or need to replace it for a long time.
Had a 2012 retina, sold it and got a deal on a M1 Pro Macbook pro 14 inch . . . Got rid of it, gave it to my mom, and got myself a mid 2012 . . . Don't regret it 1 bit! My laptop has the same amount of ram and the same amount of storage that my 2012 does right now. I need to use windows quite a lot, but, you can't just emulate windows x86 on m1 pro, which was so dissapointing! Yes intel will be left behind one day, but this mac can run any operating system (looking towards you Linux!) so this will be usefull even when apple drops intel support! My mom was very happy because she had a 2011 macbook air 11 inch! She is so happy with it and that is what counts honestly! I am very happy with my dirt cheap macbook pro, battery was new and so was the charger, i only got it for a 100€! And everything on my macbook is replaceable! Not soldered together like those new ones!
@@montaguebarnabasltd Yeah i don't get it why you would want a newer one, if your ssd or ram dies, you are out of luck, the entire devices becomes a paperweight, unless you have the skills to replace the ram and ssd yourself, they are impossible to fix, especially for average joe! If something dies on my 2012 mac, i open it up, replace the ssd, ram or whatever else that is broken and i am good to go! Older tech is superior and good for the environment!
The average geekbench scores for the 2017 macbooks pro's are misleading. As I've previously stated that I own both the 2015 and 2017 maxed out mac's. The scores on geekbench regarding the 2017 mac's pro are altered by their performance dropping drastically because of throttling issue's. It is simply much harder to replace thermal paste on the touchbar macs compared to the retinas. They require removing the entire motherboard while on the retinas you simply have to remove the heat sink brackets (they are on the opposite side of the board on the touchbar macs). When I first tested my 2017 15'' maxed out macbook pro it scored: 1235 in single core & 4107 in multi core. I was fairly disappointed with thees results because my 2015 15" maxed out macbook pro scores: 1237 in s.c. & 4061 in m.c., but after having its thermal grease replaced it now scores 1334 in s.c. & 4277 in m.c.
I do appreciate your input, and it’s nice to have a real life story to unpack here. Considering replacing the thermal paste is not a standard procedure, and means the mac isn’t running as it would from the factory, I don’t see how we can call GeekBench’s scores misleading, though. Either way, it’s worth knowing that their poor thermal situation can be improved. Thanks for watching, and for the comment!
I daily my 11” MacBook Air 2015! It has a dual core i5, 4gb of soldered in RAM, and 128gb of sweet sweet NVME storage. I do actually have a laptop that is sooo much better and has more capacity to upgrade (like having a 2.5” harddrive space, and using physical dimm slots for RAM whilst having a DVD drive I can take out and grab an adapter for more storage and has some solid specs, even 12 years later) with ports galore! But I use the MacBook over this other much better laptop because it’s lighter, thinner, and has less daily issues than say the windows laptop I fixed up myself. Edit: the MacBook also looks better, which is another part of why I take it around more 😂
There you go, I saved you 8 minutes. The video subtitles suggest that the 2015 15-inch MacBook Pro with an Intel i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a dedicated AMD GPU is considered worth buying, especially if found at a good price, which could be around half the price of an M1 MacBook Air. It is said to be snappy in performance despite its age and comes with various ports that may be appealing, including USB 3 Type-A ports, a full-size HDMI port, Thunderbolt 2 ports, an SD card slot, and MagSafe 2. The laptop also features a high-resolution screen and impressive speakers. For those needing more power for activities like 3D design or gaming, the video suggests opting for a model with an AMD R9 M370X GPU. While the M1 MacBook Air outperforms the 2015 model in benchmarks and efficiency, the older MacBook Pro offers several benefits such as a larger variety of ports, the possibility of SSD upgrades, and easier battery replacement, which could make it a more cost-effective option for those on a budget or with specific port requirements. The subtitles also mention that Intel MacBooks remain popular for music production, and the 2015 model is no exception. In summary, if the price, port variety, and upgradeability are factors that are important to you, and you are looking for a machine that can still handle various tasks competently, the video suggests that the 2015 15-inch MacBook Pro is a model worth considering in 2024.
I’m planning to buy the 2020 MacBook Pro i5, 1.4ghz ,512ssd 8gb for my school’s coding and robotics as m1’s and above are 15k-120k,it’s not us currency the 2020 MacBook I found it for a steal at 8k , should I buy it?
@@5starrkhalil I know it seems illogical, but I would recommend saving or waiting to get the M1 MacBook Air instead. I went from the top spec 2020 Intel i9 to the M1 air, and the air changed my life.
I got a MacBook Pro Early 2011 15" with the i7 for school. It's upgraded to 8GB RAM and a SSD instead of a HDD. The AMD GPU died so I cut the power off on the Mainboard, so it's running with the iGPU from the i7. It's running really great with OSX Ventura (installed with OpenCore) and I can't really complain.
I have the 2019 i9 model and while both yours and mine are still plenty powerful, it's not really fair to say that it whoops the M1. I saw a render comparison video between the 2020 M1 Air w/ 8GB RAM and the M1 Air finished the short render test first. The i9 model did beat the the M1 Air in the long render test, which was due to the lack of active cooling in the M1 Air, so it had to throttle itself a bit. I love my machine and don't plan on upgrading anytime soon, but when it comes to battery life and day-to-day use, Apple Silicon still wins.
The 2015 MacBook Pro 15" was my daily driver until I got a 15" MBA last year. No other laptop was worthy before that.

Wait what? On sonoma the amd gpu gets better than it was on monterey?
@@MarcusAntonius415 haven’t tried Sonoma but it’s been not overheating for me on Ventura. To be fair though I skipped from Big Sur to Ventura
Wow! Even I want to for an ssd upgrade on my 2015 15” MBP but I don’t see a many options put there. Where did u get yours?

@@adityadarekar5497How is the battery life?
@@adityadarekar5497 I know OWC has some, but they're a little pricy compared to regular nvme drives. You _could_ just get an adapter for nvme ssds, which is extremely cheap and is as easy as upgrading the drive on its own. Then all you'd need is a decent nvme ssd, and that'll probably be faster than what you could get with apple's proprietary SSDs for these 2015 machines anyway
I've been considering doing this to my own 15" 2015 MBP, but I have an external hard drive that I have plugged into it for project files and backups, as well as things in the cloud
Bruh how was the battery life
@ Before I changed the battery it would last about 3.5 hrs after changing the battery I would get about 6.5-7 hours.
@@PeanutsandPopcorn what do u use it for? Does it like get overheated or smth?
Bro you chose correctly with the M1. It's 2X the computer.
great review, I have a 2013 13in MBP running OCLP Ventura with 8GB and upgraded 512GB ssd, runs solid for what it is
Invaluable to have a replaceable SSD. Wish I could do the same with my M1.

My 2019 i7 16gb MBP is running great and the battery life is still solid. I have no plans to upgrade probably for many years. That said, I would 100% buy the M1 MBA at these prices if I needed a new laptop. It’s powerful enough for 99% of users.

Hope you’re enjoying it. If you aren’t able to update it to Sonoma, use Open Core Legacy Patcher. I used it for one of my Macs.
hi there, looking to get one with very similar specs with yours, hows the battery life, fan noise, heat and have u tried some gaming on it?
How was it? 🥲
I have a 15 inch 2015 with 16 gb and the 2.8, it’s powerful enough. The battery can be quite short sometimes but keep it plugged in and you’re good
I rock an M2 Max 16" for work and serious tasks, and an MBA 2015 11" for portable emulation and netflix/youtube! Powerful combo!
Also got it at a big discount ( it was brand new from the store, but it was the previous model at the time , on sale and read heaps of reviews about all the models then and this was the pick!) sorry for rambling 😂
Thank you 😊
Thanks for watching as always!

I am a web developer , what is the advice you will give me? any suggestions please😢

for the most part i agree, i got a late 2013 macbook pro, i am using it as my 2nd laptop and i mostly use my modern 16 inch 2021. i got the 2013 for about 200$ at the time. and it just works. it has the same resolution as the 2019 15" but a little less color and brightness.

16gb it's the Max amount of ram on 2012 machines
I have a 2020 MacBook Pro with an i5, still working great
I imagine it works just like a 2020 intel based laptop

Is it good for graphic design (Adobe or Affinity) and video editing (filmmora or final cut pro) these days?
So recently at my job, we acquired old MacBook Pros. Both are Intel i7 4 core CPUs with 16gb of DDR3 ram. Pretty ok all things considered. One is a 15 inch 2017 while the other was a smaller 2019 model. The biggest difference is that the 2017 has Radeon graphics while the 2019 only has Iris. What I find ridiculous is that, technically, the 2017 is more powerful than the 2019. However, because Apple said so, it cannot officially upgrade to the newest version of MacOS. That is absolutely stupid.
I have a M2 13’ MacBook Air, loving it so far.
This is also the last MacBook Pro that can be undervolted before Apple started locking undervolting from 2016 onwards.
That’s a really interesting fact actually. Thank you.
Nice insight. Thank you
Had to replace the swollen battery on my 2015 MBP too. Mine happened because I always kept it plugged in but now I have Al Dente to help with power management. OCLP really saved me a lot of money. If it brings support for macOS 15, I shall be even more happy.
How is the battery life?

Pretty cool little mod!
Gotta agree with you.
I use a MacBook Pro 2015 15inch Retina Display version
Hooray
What about 12’’ inch macbook in 2024?
One of my most recent videos covers that.
i feel like a 2008 macbook 13" for about $50 just kills it in performance, it even beats the power pc! with the blazing fast core 2 duo. its worth it.
There’s a brilliant feeling that comes with using such old and cheap tech that is still so usable.
I just bought this! I can’t to get it going!
I have Monterey and a MagSafe.
Edit: the MacBook also looks better, which is another part of why I take it around more 😂
Those 11” machines are a strange breed. Not so bad at the moment!
Thanks for watching.
Thanks mate! Much appreciated!
I daily drive a custom gaming PC with windows 11
Yippeeeee
Macbook air M1 baby
iont use a macbook ))))
im using a hackintosh with ryzen 5 5600h, 32 gb 3200mhz and a rtx 3060 ti $$$$
I ate an apple and crapped it out and looked at the system specs and even it had more tha 8GB of RAM. 😅
2019 i7 MacBook Pro whopping m1 bootay.
🤨
I have the 2019 i9 model and while both yours and mine are still plenty powerful, it's not really fair to say that it whoops the M1. I saw a render comparison video between the 2020 M1 Air w/ 8GB RAM and the M1 Air finished the short render test first. The i9 model did beat the the M1 Air in the long render test, which was due to the lack of active cooling in the M1 Air, so it had to throttle itself a bit. I love my machine and don't plan on upgrading anytime soon, but when it comes to battery life and day-to-day use, Apple Silicon still wins.
Ewh quad core. 2019 or 2020 is better buy.
