As for your accent, my YaYa (grandmother) was off the boat from Greece. She had her accent until the day she passed. This reminded of days around the kitchen table of her teaching me just everything. She's recently learned English? Amazing! It's a lot holder for us older folk to learn languages and such! I'm 3 classes from having a master's degree in mathematics. At 57 there is no way I could handle 6000 level math classes and then pass the comprehensive exam to get the degree. Most degrees spend at least a semester working on a thesis. MS in mathematics takes an exam that the smart, younger kids take 6 months to a year preparing for the exam! I didn't get my BS until I was 38. I became an accidental math major, but only had high school mathematics back in 1978! I didn't really learn/proofs in college other than proofs I'd teach in high school, but not 3-6 page mathematical proofs! Those are the type questions on the exam. There are no typical math problems you'd typically see on a high school or undergraduate text.
