@@johndoe-pm1ql you realize that what you're saying makes no sense right? When has Jesus ever asked you for money? All that you have is because Jesus willingly died for you on the cross. Had he not, we would all be dead because of our sin. You are free because of grace. Dave Ramsey wouldn't be nearly as successful if it was for Jesus. So truly, we owe it all to Him, even though he never asks for payment.

Carl Poole That's great to hear! You're on the home stretch! Early congrats are in order.
With all that income used to pay off that debt over 2 years, it's going to be amazing when all that available income can be put towards safety funds and retirement. You can treat yourself a little more often and feel a little less guilty or spend money you actually have on vacation.
So many people think the only way to clear up debt is with consolidation and just want the quick fix. Most peoplr in these situations dont even have the credit or income to even qualify for a consolidation loan or line of credit with cheaper rates anyway. Stop applying for loans and just pay off your debt.

He's a guy who had a relatively easy go of it, had a struggle and got through it with discipline. I think as you get older and wiser you feel less like that -- he knows what he's doing, but he's not infallible. His rant about credit cards is the opposite of true. I live in a neighbourhood that has multi million dollar homes. I see the Porsches and Lamborghinis in the 6 car garages. I hear the concerts they throw for charity with Bill Clinton featuring Flo-Rida (lol). The reality is that the people who are truly wealthy did that by doing what Dave says to do, and then also using credit cards properly.
Dave knows this. He knows that people can use them properly. He knows the power of reward points. He isn't stupid. His point of view, though, is that credit cards are abused, heavily, by a lot of people. He just isn't exceptional at saying so, at making that distinction, and part of me feels like that's on purpose, because the people that listen to him aren't making good decisions yet.

If you need this video in summary point :)
Dave Ramsey's Tips to be good with money:
    1. Live on less than you make
    2. Live on plan
    3. Have a written budget
    4. Get out of debt
    5. Learn to save & invest
    6. Be generous
It is really not that hard to understand this, but it is difficult to act on it.
Start a good habit & be consistent, all for your own good.
p.s. Thank you Dave Ramsey. :)

When I was in my 20s, broke, and in major debt, I literally lived on beans and rice. During the summer months, I let everyone I knew and all my coworkers know that I would take any garden left-overs. It's amazing how many people plant zucchini and underestimate how much will grow. One summer I think I had at least 5 pounds of zucchini left on my desk at work every day. Between that, living in a super cheap apartment, and riding my bicycle instead of driving, I had that massive debt paid down in no time.

This taught me the lesson that I can have anything I want now and worry about the consequences of paying it off later. Guess where I was at 20. In credit card debt, that’s where.

Sure it's healthier than a burger every day for lunch, but you should buy fresh fruit... grapes, bananas, pineapple, apples... they are usually cheap when bought unprepared and in season. Try making wraps or salads instead of sandwiches. Make grilled chicken and veggies instead of sandwiches. Around the same price but better for you.

Yea Ive noticed I'm eating healthier as well and my skin has been looking brighter as I've gotten compliments . Budgeting has caused me to think about each grocery item I buy. I buy meat and eggs as these are important to my health, but I'm very particular about avoiding antibiotics and added hormones. I also buy beans, rice, pasta, oatmeal, fruits, veggies, seeds (allergic to nuts). Very rarely do I need to buy cooking oil or peanut butter as these last a long time for me. I'm not buying any junk food (except $1 peppermint discs and Popcorners!) because junk food technically is not a need. I've been spending like $15 dollars per week on groceries- no more than $20 tax and everything. Since everything doesn't run out at the same time, I don't have to rebuy every category each week.

I need to get in gear and get my finance straight. Live with my parents. Two kids. Husband works minimum wage and tries to provide, but always broke or in the negative. We don't go out to eat, Dollar tree shop and always cook from scratch. I shop when my kids need clothes or shoes ( usually from Goodwill or hand me downs.). I need guidance so I'm starting to listen to Dave Ramsey. Hopefully I can change my ways soon.
