In the past people said the crow baby was male but he`s been making these sounds which I heard from young females in the past. Is it a young female crow? Is he voice practicing and mimicking what he heard from another crow? Or do both male and female crows make these sounds?
I would wager she's a female. Some of these sounds seem to be female-exclusive from my experience, but it is possible that a sexually immature male could make them. Still, most likely a female
@@corvusaeternus I can't resist asking… why do you use backticks (`) instead of apostrophes in your contractions and possessives? Do you just prefer how it looks?
@@wedding2710 My apostrophe key doesn`t work right. I only get the #. (German keyboard). I also could write apostrophe if I use ALT + 0146 on the numbers block but it seems that doesn`t work in youtube. So I use what looks similar to an apostrophe.
Thank you! In the past you and others said male but I guess it`s just difficult when they`re still very young. But when I heard those crow sounds I thought she`s female. Thank you for confirming! 👍
it depends based on what I had a guess it was a female. Until they start practicing their voices it is just that, a guess. Now we have more reliable information. @@corvusaeternus
Lovely film of the young crow. It seems the crow has a lot to say or is trying to. I enjoyed the gentler talking sounds as if it is settling on the best sound to communicate. It's always interesting to guess. Thank you for sharing the communication and beautiful images. Best regards, Cathy
LG
Jonathan, he/she/X is simply adorable...is having so much fun making these cute noise..I am about to come over and take him/her to my garden... Please announce on your community page when you really sure male/ female/X. I really want to know! Thank you for this beautiful video ❤❤❤❤
Thank you! It seems she`s female. Someone confirmed my guess.... So I will call her Jari. Even if the meaning is different. I do`t want a completely new name now after almost one year.... I`m sorry but she can`t live in your garden... I want her here 😄I hope she can stay - at least nearby or with the others. Have you seen Fleurtje`s husband and the child meanwhile or are they completely gone?
@@corvusaeternus Ahh ...she is just lovely, Jari it is. It takes a few years, before she will have her own family, isn't it so? No, Fleurtje died, her husband and child I hardly see, so now and then. Fleurtje came very close , she wasn't afraid at all...and that is all gone...I only have Mr. Dobbs left...❤️
@@Orientalbackyardgarden 😢... But you don`t only have Mr. Dobbs. You have Ping and Toby, Winkie and the budgies too. How long has Mr. Dobbs been with you? I`ve heard the females are at least two years old when they mate. Males often older. But I know that Gandalf mated with Loki when she was still young so I guess it depends. I hope Jari can still stay around a little bit... I think she tries to help. I`ve seen her bringing dog food to mum. (Mum is already building a nest and sitting in the tree begging for food sometimes.)
@@corvusaeternus Ahh, I love that, Jari is so sweet. Yes, let her be for now, not a man around. Mr. Dobbs is here for 8 years, maybe more. But I would swab immediately if I could get Fleurtje back...
Fascinating! Very interesting that this is a female practicing different calls, and that she's still hanging around her parents. The video is a little shaky, I guess, but there were some lovely, clear, and steady sequences here. Thank you!
