I hope you enjoy part 1 of the Ernie & Bert series! Subscribers might already know some of the footage but as it is part of the growing up progress I did include it again. Look forward to future videos as I have a lot of unseen footage of Ernie & Bert! I hope you'll all enjoy! Sorry for the clicking handling noise. Normally I would have muted the footage or but I wanted to keep the nice birdsong in the background. (I used an external microphone but I think the settings were too high and they picked up a lot of handling noise as well as breathing sometimes.)
Well, it's more Bert & Ernie but it sounds more melodic the other way round. And normally I should have named the big one Ernie as he is more vivid and active but I'm not sure if the little one is a girl and I think Ernie would work as well for a girl - at least way better than Bert ;-)
Such wonderful special moments with the young crows and their parents. Lovely watching them playing and their parents caring for them so gently. Nice to get to know Ernie and Bert. Great documentation of them growing up! Best regards, Cathy
Such a beautiful and heartwarming video! They are such cute and smart birds. Spending a lot of time with them and watching them grow up must be incredibly rewarding. Thanks for sharing it. ❤

😄LG
I was really looking forward to your new video! The countryside is very beautiful and your young crow friends are fairylike. I think you have made friends for life... It's impossible to determine the gender of the young crows, and even harder to determine the gender of the adults, but you have an idea of the gender of Bert and Ernie, did you get their names right?😊😉
Thank you very much! I don't really know their gender but I thought the bigger one might be male since he(?) is more dominant and there were moments when Mum Crow was a bit submissive. He also looks very strong to me now. I'm not sure about Ernie. Could be a weak and little male or maybe a female. The names were suggested by one of my subscribers. In a past video she commented the fledglings remind her of Ernie & Bert (from Sesame Street) and then somehow those names got stuck in my head and that's their names now. With fully grown and adult grows sometimes the gender is clear. At least when I see a couple as the male looks bigger and behaves more dominant most of the time. But when I see them in a group it's hard to tell for me.
I have watched this one and the second video and enjoyed the lovely moments you captured. It's too bad people are complaining. I guess I can kind of understand about the feeding part if that's causing an issue, but can't imagine what problem they would have with you filming. This is in a park, right? Is there a less busy section where you can occasionally sneak treats to the crows and otherwise only film?
In this particular case people didn't complain about this crow family when they were still in the forest but later when they moved to the residential area which is VERY close to the city forest. The people there were annoyed by the noise as the parents (and later also the young crows) were screaming at all passers-by and the crow war between them and the crows "next door". Now that it's autumn and there are much more crows by the forest they watch out for me from the forest and as soon as they see somewhere in the streets they all fly down to the residential area which is a problem. Without me they don't come to the streets in big groups like that. So the main problem is me existing and being there. Because without me much less crows are noticeable. People complain about the noise, them making dirt, they complain about them killing songbirds, the runners and dogs were being harrassed while breeding time... and people blaim me and say the crows don't belong there and think they wouldn't be there without me as food source which is nonsense as they have other food sources too and I also don't feed too much because I can't afford and transport so much food. I always try to find less busy sections but I can't get there without lots of loud crows following me... so I always run into people complaining before reaching a quiet spot. At the moment there's only one place that I can go to with the crows. They don't come to the other sections because there are too many birds of prey atm.
