Actually these were made originally for Westbahn, just not needed in the end. That's why they can do 200 instead of 160 kmh and that's why they done in the older Stadler Dosto design instead of the newer KISS design modified for the European crash safety standards implemented in the mid 2010s. And they were delivered in this Soko delivery in less than a year from the ordering which should be 4-5 years novadays for a standard new order.

Works on the section Novi Sad - Subotica started a few months ago, it will be completed by 2024, and also Hungary started working on their part from Budapest to Serbia (although with 160 km/h limitation but that's the same basically). Also project documentation is prepared for Belgrade - Niš, so Soko Stadler trains will have longer journey in the near future than this 80 km. Also construction of station building of Belgrade Center (on the concrete plate above tracks) will start probably by the end of this year, it will be built by private company and in return they will get office space around the station.
10:11 those tracks on the left are abandoned railway tracks for the Old Railway Station (1884-2018) in city center, they are removed now, so old railway bridge across Sava river is also not in function anymore and will be probably turned into pedestrian-bicycle bridge.

@@Simon-Andersen We are just doing now what we neeeded to do years ago, since railway service and infrastructure was great up to breakup of Yugoslavia, but in years after mid-90s there was almost zero investment in both trains and railway infrastructure because railway service was considered secondary to bus, since bus is much easier to operate, now they finally realized they must change that.

@@Simon-Andersen Belgrade Centar will get a main station building ( with a huge ticket office, some shops, entry gates, airline check in machines and so on) also a business district will be built. Next to the station all new developments will take place (current BIP complex will be destroyed and also Malesko hill will be flattened) As far as transportation goes it will get a direct acess from the other side to the highway, a metro line and trolley lines will serve the main enterance directly.

I tried this train from Belgrade Centar to Novi Sad and vice versa. The train is fast, modern and comfortable. As Novi Sad being number two city in Serbia, I wonder why there's no train or bus from Belgrade airport to Novi Sad. Taking a taxi from the airport to Belgrade Centar station is very boring because taxi drivers always want to take advantage of tourists. As I am Brazilian and this was my only complaint in Serbia.

Thing is the REAL reason why its cheap is due to promotion(now extended) promotional period and also due to goverment subsudising it so it maintains that price.
While its great for people its BAD for countries/local city budget due to being forced to subsudise the ticket wich is another thing that is basicaly taking/reducing the budget of country/city.
So instaed of that money going into otehr much needed things instead it goes into subsidisng tickets bcs the original/real price of the ticket was around 1000-1200 dinars.

i am from Serbia and i am not to mucth proud on this train because of amount of money spended on modernisation of serbian railways and results. More then 1,5 bilions of euros was spended on modernisation but the most of serbian train stations, railways and trains was in awful condition. Only 15% of serbian trains was in condition that can be called satisf..
Our governabt says: we can not compete with Poland or i do not know, Romania, both are countries EU members, they can use EU funds to modernise their railways. Ok. Thats true but. Result of 1,5 bilion of euros modernisation in Serbia are not equal to amount of money, 1,5 bilions of euros. I hope u understand me, my english isnt so good.

@@Simon-Andersen this is just one train + maybe 10 trains in good or exellent condition. Rest are in awful condition. Train stations looks like after atomic bomb almost. The most of rails are super slow, i like slow rails and slow trains but i do not like super slow trains and rails. Trains in Serbia are not supe rslow but rails are. I prefer AMTRAK trains more then super fast european trains, for example. But i do not like rails for 20km per hour.

Svaki novi projekat, nova KRADJA i FUSERAJ. MALO TOGA je odradjeno kako treba.
