I have added rj-45 crimper and a bag of cat5 and 6 crimps. As well as a Fluke network cable mapper. Never envisioned a day where I would make more network connectors than XLRs. But with audio over ip that is the case. Being able to check network cables has solved a lot of issues.
Nice to see ! mine comes pretty close to urs. also in my case is: RF Scanner, headphones, talkback mic , inears, lots of USB sticks, iPad, 2 Neutrik NE8FF couplers(To connect RJ45 to Ethercon), a brush to keep the desk clean, small notebook and zip ties :-)
I love the video and for mine I carry precision screw driver, multi screw driver, di box, 2 short xlrs, a 15 ft xlr, instrument cable, markers, color electrical tape, adapters, extra microphone, battery’s and stuff and usb b to usb a for system processing and little tiny mic stand, mic clip and stuff and I might buy that sound bullet incase I have issues on xlr lines and a cable tester
Thanks for sharing Michael! Wondering if you could do a video explaining how you bill for install work? Similar to your "How to Make Money as a Live Audio Engineer" video, but geared towards install. For context I am also a full time freelancer, but would love some tips on how to manage the finances of taking install work when shows slow down during the winter.
Yes! Super pumped about giving that a go. I tried it unsuccessfully while it was in Beta, but now that it's an official release I'll have to give it another shot.
Great video, thank you! Does anyone happen to know whether that zipper top is sold separately? I've also got the Peli 1535 Air and I'd love to have some more storage in the lid just as you do.
Nice video Michael. Can you share the specs on your Thinkpad for us please? I'm in the same boat as you with needing to run Ease Focus, Powersoft Armonia and other audio system software that is PC only. I really want a laptop with an Ethernet port (Armonia) so I've been looking at a used Dell Latitude 5420, but my options are open. FWIW I have a travel first aid kit in my gig bag along with a small selection of OTC meds like Ibuprofen, Imodium, DayQuil etc. I would put my flashlight and my custom hearing protection as my co-number ones that I never leave home without. I have my equipment split between my regular gig bag for production work and mixing, and then a second backpack with my audio measurement gear.
AMD Ryzen™ 7 PRO 6850H Processor (3.20 GHz up to 4.70 GHz) NVIDIA® T1200 4GB GDDR6 Graphics Card 16 GB DDR5-4800MHz (SODIMM) RAM 512 GB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 Performance TLC Opal Hard Drive 15.6" UHD (3840 x 2160) Display, IPS, Anti-Glare, Non-Touch, HDR, 100%sRGB, 600nits, 60Hz, LED Backlight One thing I wish I would have changed is getting a backlit keyboard!
Hi, Michael. Have been following your channel since forever and you've been making greeeeaaattt content! Congratulations on all the success that's coming your way. I had a quick question. How are you using 4 measurement mics with your evo8? I mean I'm guessing with the reference input coming in via Loopback. But I've measured the difference and have found that the loopback situation adds 0.59ms of additional delay. Correct me if I'm wrong. But doesn't the evo also get added to the measurement chain? How do you go about it? Or do you just consider the relative delays and deal with the fact the all the values from Delay Finder have an additional 0.59ms?
Hey, Joyjeet. Thanks for the kind words! And yes, you got it on the last point. I just know that all delay finder delays have an extra .59ms or so delay and there's a slight variance in the phase graph in the HF. Since all mics are subject to this same delay and change in the data, I'm not worried about it since 99% of my work is comparative, not absolute. Hope this helps!
@ 2:32... what is a tuning and how is a tuning under a flimsy shirt??? this is a term i have NEVER heard used that way. What are you doing with business cards??
If it's a normal A1 production gig I don't carry any since the production company will have some. If I'm tuning a system I carry four 100ft XLR cables in my suitcase.
Why do I love these Pelican videos so much? Thanks, now I have disto envy. Great vid. Three thumbs up!
Thanks, Jason! I hope we can work on another show together again soon. You killed it.
And yes, the X4 disto is as awesome as you think it is : )
very interesting , i got of the same gear with me at all times but i always find it realy interesting what people bring to solve problems
I recently just posted a "Show me your Pelicans" thread on Reddit. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
You got it!

Great idea. You're totally right in that more and more of our world is category cable based rather than XLR!

Great additions! What RF scanner do you use?
@@MichaelCurtisAudio just the basic RF Explorer :) just in case u don't have the fancy mics to do it hahaha

That sound bullet is a life saver!
I’m going to buy a second pelican that’s just stuffed to the brim with 3.5mm to lightning bolt adaptors

Great idea, Chris. Can definitely throw that in the hopper.
EVO's will also work with Smaart 9.1 with new gain tracking feature.
Yes! Super pumped about giving that a go. I tried it unsuccessfully while it was in Beta, but now that it's an official release I'll have to give it another shot.
@@MichaelCurtisAudio , dosnt the evo also support internal loopback?
Yup!@@sonicsound84
Impressive, thanks for sharing!
You got it!
No product list available?
Any advice for when checking or carrying on your pelican for flying?

I'm actually not sure about that. It came all together when I ordered it.
Quite Impressive
Thanks, Roger!

No xlr cables for your measurement mics? You lend them from the pa company i presume?
If I'm onsite for a show that's exactly right. I do have four 100ft XLR cables I bring with me for tuning gigs, though.
What does your arm say?
When you fly with your pelican do you check it or carry on?
If it's a "fast paced" trip I'll carry it on and leave my multitool at home. But most of the time I try and check it so I can have that.

What headphones do you use or recommend?
I've got the Shure 840A's.
Do you carry this case as carry on luggage on the flight
I try and check it, but I'm able to carry it on (after I leave my multitool at home) if I need to.
No SM58 with a dented screen? Rookie mistake
Ha! With a broken switch, right?
But what does your Hebrew arm tattoo say? 🧐
It's "Here am I, Send Me" from Isaiah 6:8.
im surprised you dont carry any 1/4" -1/4" cables for instruments, except the one for loopback you have. why is that?
Most of the production companies I work with have those in ample supply when a band shows up.
