Every time I need help with some part of a solo I can't quite figure out, I always search for Chris' lessons because I find his teaching methodology super comprehensive and most effective. It's comforting knowing that he is out there, helping us all guitar players from the world. Thank you very much!
Hey, first off i wanna say your videos have helped me so much, your a great teacher, i was wondering if you have ever done a video on alternate picking, as your alternate picking technique is amazing, and I'm in a bit of a rut with it at the moment,
They can be, definitely. What I love about the solos of many of these big thrash bands is how the rhythm often plays modified versions of the main riffs, and sometimes these are just as hook-y as the main riffs we associate with these tracks. Slayer and Metallica did this so well.
Awesome...lol.. . The first time I heard this song, "I was Floored" ! I thought no way can a guy be this fast ! It has to be double-tracked..(lol. I was wrong)... Great to see it live,& slowed down.
I know you know this already or heard it plenty but you are the fucking man, I've learned so much from you just playing this solo alone drops jaws just seriously thanks for being awesome.
It is more incredible than Bettencourt even came up with this insane solo idea, during an actual song. Maybe the most underrated solo of the 1990s. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure made the band.
That last scale (22 notes or so) can be played down the the same way you worked up to it in the beginning of this last set. The guys got mad skills. I find this easier And to replace the picking with a lot more hammers and pulls will help speed this up. Check out guitarlickz for same lesson. He doesn't show the ending though so I am grateful of this guy.
nice job very very good ! dude you almost shred all notes!!! section 1 is H-P-up-down that's how he did on studio version ! otherwise very cool ; and ty for learnt me tornado of souls
i'm actually on acoustic and i tried tornado of souls and some other solos... i've got the technique but i'm stuck in 20th fret,so could you please add some more acoustic solos? i've learned Sidewinder by the way.. and thank's !
excellent video! Where were you 15 years ago when I had to keep hitting rewind and play to learn this from a cassette? heh..... Again, excellent video. I subscribed
who else has problems at 5:18 ? because of the arpeggio position I can only play it by palm muting the g string, otherwise when I lift the pinky of the 12th fret G string the harmonic sounds (on the other arpeggios I can mute it just by lifting the finger cause there's no harmonic)
yea he uses his nails its crazy lol. u can watch his hallow be thy name vid and u can see clearly when he does the tapping parts he doesnt hold a pick. this guy is epic
Hello m8, please answer my question as I'd LOVE to know is there any solo you can't play? Or find incredibly difficult? I'd love to know and try to play because I'm not the greatest guitarist been playing about 2 years and I'd love to tackle difficult stuff and just learn the patterns and speed, thanks bro and you're so awesome down to earth guy, I hope if I get ad good as you I can be that modest! You've taught me so many solos :)
Amazing lesson. 😀 what would be handy is if you could mention pick stroke direction. I get confused whether to practice this alternate or economy, inside or outside.
Guitarlickz does a great job. But doesn't show the ending. I think it takes mad skills to be able to slow things down enough to show others, and not get lost in the process. This piece is not perfect but very impressive.
Took me 12 hours and about 20 espressos but I nailed it. May I have my guitar god certificate now?
***** Not yet, now you need to master the song playing only with your feet.
+wahwah1013 .... Very funny Comment bro ! Loooooollll
wahwah1013 now you need to make a solo just as hard-core if not more that sounds fucking sweet
lmfao
F
It's not silly. It's awesome.
I never know Del Piero could play funk very well after decided to retired in Juventus and continued his career as metal guitarist. its cool man!
Hey Wes. Have you checked out Scarified pt 1? It was a good suggestion dude!

Thank you! This was brilliant. Just the right pace. No hand-holding and no baby talk.
and, fuckin, subscribe. i love how you taught it just quick enough for people who are capable of actually playing it. solid video bruh.
Bloody fabulous. What I previously thought impossible to learn, might now just be possible.
Excellent lesson, a really nice solo incorporating string skipping. This makes more sense than looking at tabs. Thanks a lot!
Many thanks for the up load Chris, excellent lesson !
been quite intimidated by this solo for a while, hand a look at this and learnt in a morning :) cheers dude!
Oh loyal Kungfudragon! Thanks for your consistent enthusiasm dude.
Chris, i bought your method some years ago, today i was searching for this song after heraring Nilli brosh playing it. Thanks buddy
FINALLY got it down! Crazy fun solo, and amazing lesson
Great job and straight to the point. Very well done.
Excellent. Love Nuno's guitar work!!

Hey, first off i wanna say your videos have helped me so much, your a great teacher, i was wondering if you have ever done a video on alternate picking, as your alternate picking technique is amazing, and I'm in a bit of a rut with it at the moment,
Awesome vid Chris. Thanks again!
Cemetery gates is fine... I have a rule about Slayer solos though... I just find them awful.
They can be, definitely. What I love about the solos of many of these big thrash bands is how the rhythm often plays modified versions of the main riffs, and sometimes these are just as hook-y as the main riffs we associate with these tracks. Slayer and Metallica did this so well.
Thanks so much, let's start practicing now! great lesson!
Awesome...lol.. . The first time I heard this song, "I was Floored" ! I thought no way can a guy be this fast ! It has to be double-tracked..(lol. I was wrong)... Great to see it live,& slowed down.
yeahhh love this solo
Thanks dude.
Holy shit, you totally rock, man! Thx for the lesson.
Great video man!
That was cool alternate picking!
So awesome - thanks!
I know you know this already or heard it plenty but you are the fucking man, I've learned so much from you just playing this solo alone drops jaws just seriously thanks for being awesome.

Great job, excellent thanks
Loved it....thanks for the breakdown! \m/
man awesome lessons... could you do falling in reverse good girls like bad guys or im not a vampire lesson???
I dont even play the guitar....this was awesome
Yeah a lot of string skipping on this song reminded me scarified haha. Cheers man and take care with the last part!
That last scale (22 notes or so) can be played down the the same way you worked up to it in the beginning of this last set.

Excellent. Thank you for this :)
"before we got too excited" he reminded us to tune down 😂
DUDE. You rock.
gracias muy bueno me re sirvio, saludos de argentina
Brincadeira o cara é muito bom..... valeu pelo video!!!!
Fantastic, liked and sub'd! Thank you very much.
You are awesomeeeeeee dude thank you very very muchhhh
DUDE!! You do your artificial harmonics bends "DOWNWARD" instead of up! EPIC!!!
nice job!!
Awesome
Thanks man! could you do Racer X's Scarified ?
Fue...simplemente...ah...hermoso.
Thanks Chris ;)
nice job very very good ! dude you almost shred all notes!!! section 1 is H-P-up-down that's how he did on studio version ! otherwise very cool ; and ty for learnt me tornado of souls
Man you're great!!!
this is it! thank you
could you do the solo from "turn out the lights" by steel panther?
i'm actually on acoustic and i tried tornado of souls and some other solos... i've got the technique but i'm stuck in 20th fret,so could you please add some more acoustic solos? i've learned Sidewinder by the way.. and thank's !
excellent video! Where were you 15 years ago when I had to keep hitting rewind and play to learn this from a cassette?
heh.....
Again, excellent video. I subscribed
Can you do one for Cemetary Gates by Pantera ,Seasons in the Abyss or Angel of Death by Slayer?
Epic!
Thiz iz art!!!
Nice lesson! I covered this solo on my channel. It's really amazing!
Could you please do the solo from orion by metallica?
who else has problems at 5:18 ?
because of the arpeggio position I can only play it by palm muting the g string, otherwise when I lift the pinky of the 12th fret G string the harmonic sounds
(on the other arpeggios I can mute it just by lifting the finger cause there's no harmonic)
Easily the best solo 👍
How many hours a day do you practice to be able to learn all this stuff an make it look so effortless?
I suggest you try the solo in "The Wicked End" by Avenged Sevenfold. Great stuff.
Can you do Holy Wars by Megadeth?
Can you ever have enough Opeth?
Guy, you're a monster, playing this without a pick Oo, awesome
I think he plays with a pick, but keep it between the thumb and middle finger, as EVH
MadDaniell He is using his middle finger nail. 4:26 I don't any pick xD
yea he uses his nails its crazy lol. u can watch his hallow be thy name vid and u can see clearly when he does the tapping parts he doesnt hold a pick. this guy is epic
SGTLou96 It's very unusual but once you practice it's like playing with pick
Ramiro Ezequiel actually I'm playing with my nails, learning how to use a pick :p
fingers are much easier to play with for me
Hello m8, please answer my question as I'd LOVE to know is there any solo you can't play? Or find incredibly difficult? I'd love to know and try to play because I'm not the greatest guitarist been playing about 2 years and I'd love to tackle difficult stuff and just learn the patterns and speed, thanks bro and you're so awesome down to earth guy, I hope if I get ad good as you I can be that modest! hi chris, how is it that u pick all the notes in the intro but when you show us hows its done you tap alot of them? Is the picking harder?
Thanks a lot
Amazing lesson. 😀 what would be handy is if you could mention pick stroke direction. I get confused whether to practice this alternate or economy, inside or outside.
thank's a lot man
Sweaty and grumpy??? lol, I got you beat on that score, bro!!! Keep kickin'@ss! Love it!
Missed that harmonic dive in the cheeky part lol
I know Extreme is cheesy as shit.. but the guitar is just fantastic! Thanks for this! Keep it up!
You are a great teacher but the 1st phrase is in 16th notes - you have to play 3 open high E string after each note
The Triplets work just fine
how about "Sudden Death" by Megadeth?
That "vivaldi section" is done palm muted with pull offs, not straight tremolo picking
How can you pull him up on that and yet miss the fact that he's not playing 16th notes?
Guitarlickz does a great job.
But doesn't show the ending.
I think it takes mad skills to be able to slow things down enough to show others, and not get lost in the process.
This piece is not perfect but very impressive.
Man this is tough.
thanks I get it!
Rockin, rockin, and rockin are words i'd use to describe this song.
YEA CEMETERY PLS, do that one!!!
You should do the solos from burden by opeth
But in intro Chris plays triplets but it is 16th 3 open notes after each note🤔
Delay pedal, nuno uses a delay live/in studio, there's some good in-depth videos about it. Makes a really cool effect
CHILI PEPPERS DUDE !
I think thr in-between notes are a pull-off followed by 2 picked notes, like 5p0 0 0 7p0 0 0 8p0 0 0 etc
Also I believe in section 4, he slides up to the 3rd and back to the root at the top of the Eb major arpeggio.
Nope, I'm just dumb
Cool divebomb with a fixed bridge 😂
3:40
el solo no,queremos la cancion completa
i feel your pain about the whether is really kinda random
God damn my pinky isn't used to this much action.
Hey I have that guitar
Just don't like that style? But Cemetery Gates, I would appreciate.
My pinky finger fell off trying to play this.
can you put subs for some lesson?
Slayer's solos it's a lot of noise lol !!! And he can't play this because he don't have a Floyd Rose lol :p
Remake!!!
Creo que me enamoré de ti!
