What a very productive week Billy. Nice to see Michael yesterday. Could your beautiful Gwendolyn pop in more often? Always lovely to see her. Your grandparents home is looking great, they will be so happy there x
When we built our house in 1986 we felt it necessary to put a phone jack in every room. Now we look at all of them and laugh. I am glad you’re installing the latest technology in the convent!
Honestly Billy everything you do is done to such a high standard that anything but the best coffee machine wouldn’t work - I follow a few of these channels - yours is the how to do an elegant high quality renovation that maintains the best features of the building while raising the interiors to classy 5 star hotel quality. I love the quirky stuff like your coffee machine or the old bank furniture future bar and the organ in the chapel - fabulous just fabulous
when I see the electric lift being used I recall the video showing how and where you got it...what a great 'find' you made that day! It has been an invaluable piece of equiptment for your renovations. I can still see you driving it down the country road.
Yes, that still makes me chuckle - the loading and unloading off the trailer, and going through the Convent for the first time. Must watch that video again. I feel a blog post coming on - the funniest videos on the channel !
I laugh at the hallway doors and think why isn’t every stray cat not wintering in the Covent and all the mice. You have done a lot this week. Yannis and Simon have really worked hard at the house.
I was thinking the same thing.. I'm sure there are rats and mice that have found their way inside under that door.. It could also be part of all the noises they hear.. All the animals and pests running around inside.. lol
@@dragonflyhill5748 I believe I head Billy say something about it having to be hooked up to plumbing lines and also a drain.. Don't think it can be mobile..
Similar thoughts here where I live in Australia - would need to tack on a temporary weather strip for the interim to stop rats, mice, snakes, spiders and other livestock including my housemate Bluey (blue-tongued lizard). Also need to keep out the cold when it is -6C in winter and block 40C heat and duststorms in summer.
Thanks everyone for a brilliant week's video's. I love seeing you all mucking in together to get job's done. Hope you get a bit of family time over the weekend. ❤xx
Great work. Please take care when fitting Rockwool. The fibres are supposedly not as hazardous as asbestos but we probably won't find out for 20 or 30 years. Please wear a mask.
Where you're insulating the hallway, they make metal plates that you hammer on to the studs so that when you go to do the drywalling, you don't accidently screw through into a power cable that's going through the stud. They just have small tabs that grab into the wood so you don't use nails to install them. The chances of actually screwing into the power cable may be low, but not zero. And you might not even realize you've done it until somebody touches a screw head that's now energized.
Not getting distracted? ...the way I do when I dig into your videos? Love this!!! Thank you for a window into your beautiful world filled with creativity, accomplishment, and comraderie.
Fantastic job done by all. Simon and Yanis have done a beautiful job at your Grandparent's house. We all need friends like them who just get in and do. Have a great weekend 😀
Hello what an amazing vlog again. I live in Québec here it is much colder today mild is -7celcius. I am watching you work in a Tshirt and there is a big gap on the bottom of the hallway doors. I keep thinking boy I would put something on there to block that for the weather and critters. Amazing kitchen, cannot wait to see the library. Thank you for the amazing vlogs. Love all of them. Bravo.
What a week for progress, between the convent and your grandparents house, you are getting it done. The weekend is well deserved and much needed to recharge. Have a great day to all of you
Great idea to have structured cabling for network/internet in every room. Also future-proofs rooms for telephones if needed in the future, e.g. guest/hotel rooms.
Loved that opening shot! When I see the space under the outside doors I have to laugh, coming from Canada that would never happen, but I know it won't stay that way lol, you are doing An excellent job as always! Love your vlogs!
I think that space under the doors was from when Billy lowered the hallway floor to expose the stone floor. It will be fixed when they install the new doors.
Between you and Yanis and Simon, I don't know who works the hardest! Mick and Rick too! Your dedication to each project is awesome and shows how much each project means to you all. Just remember to take some days off to replenish your energy. Take care.
Billy,Simon, and Yanis my friends. Insulation is coming out great. Simon and Yanis doing a fantastic job at grandpa’s house. Well my loves. Until next time. Please, take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🍺🍺🌹🇺🇸❤️🌞🙏🕊👍😇🌈
Thick walls definitely block router access. Back in 2012, I stayed at a B&B in Orkney that was a converted grain mill. You could only get Internet in their common room and the breakfast room directly below it. We were so busy there that the lack didn’t bother me, but they could have used that cabling in the rooms.
Another great video. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say it's so refreshing and heartwarming to see how you all care and take care of each other. Such a pleasure to watch
The living room at your Grand-parent's place looks really inviting. Uou all are doing a great job. I hope we get to see Simon's place too. I think you and your crew are always working, Billy!
Loved the intro, what a view!! I have to laugh, when I first started watching, I had no idea what "it will look absolutely amazing" could mean. Top of the line beautiful everything is indeed absolutely amazing. The kitchen takes my breath away. I am really looking forward to the library!
Billy - you are making so much progress!! It’s great to see projects being finished ✔️ Simon & Yannis are doing an excellent job at your grandparents house also ! How nice for them to get all this work done and be able to settle in. ❤
Has the fridge in the kitchen been moved? Lots of lovely progress yesterday. Look forward to seeing Simon's farmhouse. So glad the weather has improved.
Hello Billy, great work on the insulation, and Simon with Yannis have done a great job in the room - wonderful effort by everyone!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire
If you put the coffee machine on a fancy cart with storage areas for coffee, etc, it could make up a portable coffee bar where you could serve also pastries along with it.
I keep meaning to ask but how do you keep rain and small animals from getting inside the convent when you have such a large gap underneath the double doors? This Foyer will look amazing once completed. It will set the tone for anyone walking inside the building. Crack on! 😊
I find myself thoroughly searching the doorways behind Billy for any ghostly figures after the last video!😂 creepy convent lol I’m watching out for ya Billy! Lol
20 years ago I wired 2 drops of CAT5 cable into the house I was moving into. Ever since then I regret not installing at least 4: it's easy when you are doing a reno and really not that expensive. Billy, you might want to reconsider your thinking on a single drop, and yes, unless your cat6 is in conduit then things can happen to it like driving nails/screws through it etc etc. I also think you are going to install wireless points and ethernet switches vice routers? Nice work on the reno!
Grandparents cottage is moving right along now. Hopefully you can get the plasterboard up in the convent hallway so Simon can plaster when he’s done at their house. Any idea when work on the chapel ceiling will start?
My cable guys always recommended pulling 2 cables for future unknown expansion purposes. The cost is almost the same as one cable compared to later re-opening walls when a second cable is needed. I've never been sorry doing that.
Billy lol lol lol Distracted? Youuu??? Nooo way 😂 sweetheart Ive never seen you distracted Honestly your always doing something.... Your moto speaks volumes🎉 CRACK ON 💪🌟🤝🌟 AN GETTER DONE ✔🙌
Hey Billy, is that new coffee machine just for looking at, like the oven? Have you thought 'I wish I had a cupboard recess I could stand it in?' just joshing, you're all doing really well
Billy, everything is coming together so glad, yes it's nice to work alone sometimes, no one to interupt you, till nx time. Thanks for sharing. :) Have you ever tried the heated floors yet?
I think there used to be a threshold there that was removed so the lift can get inside. I am sure it will be replaced when they are finished using the lift.
Reflecting back to the new coffee machine, you could keep it to install in large bar that you intend making with the units from the bank and purchase a new machine that fits the space in the kitchen. The new steampunk coffee machine would be a conversation piece for the future bar and a state of the art machine that fits the designated space would be a very useful in the kitchen.
BILLY, wouldn't have been lovely to put up a piece if PLEXIGLASS over the tree doodle? So cool to see it! OR TAKE A PICTURE OF IT & HANG THE PIECE OF ART FRAMED on the wall?? Blessings ❤
No one has mentioned the female figure in the last video just standing in the side room. It is about 15 seconds into the video when Billy walks in. it is very spooky looking!
It’s a woman in a floor length dress. You see her when Billy walks in (in the coffee pot video) and then when Billy walks past she just disappears!!😮If Billy isn’t playing a prank he really has a ghost! Yikes! 😬

I LOVE THE VIEW OF THE AREA AROUND THE CONVENT. I DID NOT REALIZE HOW BIG THE TOWN IS.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The drone shot was spectacular!
I loved the drone shot. Beautiful area.
I must say that I prefer Billy's choices in music over anyone else's. Emotionally-charged classical melodies always get me in the feels...
Billy, your Grandparents cottage is beautiful.

The grandparents are going to adopt Yanis and Simon....❤ They are just doing such a lovely job of finishing the grandparents cottage 😊
I like the skirting matching the floor and keep the crown white. In America we match white crown to white skirting. Fantastic😊
Looks fabulous Simon and Yannis. What a lovely place for Billy’s grandparents. Definitely the A-Team 🎉

My American IT ears heard "rooters", not "routers" and had to adjust. Made me smile thinking how he would laugh at my accent!
Same here in Australia after 26 years in IT - we call 'em 'rowters' too.
No more ghosts?
Simon and Yannis did a nice job at your grandparents house.
I can't wait to see the renovations at Simon's place.

I could watch timelapse videos of the light through the windows on the convent floor all day long. So relaxing.
And the team wins again! Wow, the workmanship of Simon, followed by Yanis who is learning from him so well and yourself Billy.....I can't say enough!

I must say Billy, it really was worth all your hard work cleaning up that cobbled flooring in the entry, they are so nice. 😊

The UPRIGHT lift certainly has paid for itself during the renovation of the convent. Imagine doing the work without it.
I wonder if those old brass lights from the Bank of France would work in the hallway space?

I just looked up the insulation in my local area, USA, I had no idea about it. I will be putting that in my home. It's 121 years old this year.

2 drops of CAT5 into each jack box in each room that is.
Given the thickness of the walls, it MIGHT be okay, but I agree, better safe than sorry! Conduit could save massive headaches, later!
Totally agree. I would recommend putting in double the Amount of cable you need right now. Way easier than trying to do it later
Simon does very nice job. The grandparents' house is really looking 100 % better. Can't wait until the entrance at the convent is finished.
