The comment at about 55 min in about the Israelis not knowing there would be Palestinian resistance seems questionable. Early Zionist leaders Jabotinsky and Ben Gurion wrote that Palestine, the land proposed for tge establishment of Israel, was not only fully occupied but that its inhabitants would not relinquish any of it willingly. Invaders who have had to fight to gain the land know they have to maintain forces to keep the conquered from rebelling against their oppression. Once in power the oppressor prefers to rely on indoctrination to impose its supremacist lies on the conquered, and it may overestimate its success at times, but it is ever-vigilant and ever-ready to use arms. The Israelis consciously drove the Palestinians to resist by ever-increasing aggression -- they just underestimated the response.

I very much enjoyed the interview. Professor Parsi offers a thoughtful analysis of the shifting balance of power in the region and beyond. What I've been missing in the conversation though, may be something of an elephant in the room, which is the Iranian regime's publically declared intention to destroy the state of Israel, together with the official denial of its intention to develop a nuclear arsenal. However one might be able to gauge these intentions, they are perceived as an existential threat in Israel, so much so that even the fiercest critics of the current goverment seem to agree on that perception. To underestimate the consequences of this might be a fatal mistake. The Israeli leadership seems to be intent on stepping up the escalation ladder in order to drag the US and its allies into a war with Iran. First to be hit, should this occur, could very well be Iran's nuclear installations, because to Israel, they have become the symbol of the regime's intentions and as such, a manifestation of the desire of many living in the region to correct the "historical injustice" and wipe Israel of the map. No matter where you stand on this idea, I think that anyone rejoicing in the idea of seeing the "Zionist State" defeated and destroyed, should consider that the price in order for this to happen is beyond anyone's ability to foresee, but might be far too high for all of us. I would welcome any guest on your show that could offer more insight and understanding, as a way to create common ground and against false beliefs and ignorance, which are the true enemies to each of us. It's my hope is that we, as human beings, are capable of transcending our self-righteousness and will be willing to end the "holy wars" we are waging upon one another. So much is to be lost if we don't.
If the Iranians are sensible and rational, why don't they put the interest of their people before terrorists proxies and make peace with Israel? There is no reason iran must destroy their beautiful country religiously driven hatred to wards Israel.

Even another politician from Likud wouldnt be able to keep the right wing coalition together. That is very common knowledge. Assassination of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders is considered escalation? So the bombing of Majd Al Shahms football ground was what? It was a retaliation for the deliberate targeting and murder of many children. That is also common knowledge. These two are frankly lacking the most basic knowledge of the conflict. Utterly useless, propaganda rubbish.

@@tamiiymchristine no wrong answer, what faith are you a part of? Christian, Judaism? I'm just trying to understand where you're finding your information.
Great insightful analyze from Mr Parsi again as always! His opinions are always professional, and
unbiased 👍
Obviously Iran is not paying Trista’s wages . He doesn’t have any other job except talking about Iran . That leaves US as his employer!
This conversation assumes that Ismail Haniyeh is a neutral non-combatant. I would strongly disagree with this assumption.
The policy of vaporising your enemy whenever the opportunity presents itself is a winning strategy.
Yes true in the short term. In the long term Israel is doomed.
Trita Parsi supports the IRGC, this is NOT impartial analysis!
Stop crying shlomo
Have Haviv Rettig Gur on your podcast. It's interesting how Iran's support of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and Shia militias in Syrian and Iraq is not seen as destabilizing. Please explain.
For the same reason as during apartheid in South Africa, Iran was called a supporter of terrorism(They meant Nelson Mandela). I hope you never become a school teacher because I am sure that instead of dealing with the spoiled school bully, you will punish the students who are not willing to listen to him.
If you are not paying any attention in middle east politics, first move has already been made and tested..
Whoever replaces Bibi will be as bad or even worse than him.
Why is no one talking about the October 7th
😂 make peace with the devil and wonder why you find yourself in hell?
Very in-depth discussion and very insightful dialogue. Thank you both.
I am glad Iran did not go to war with Isreal. I was hoping Iran don't satisfy Natanyahu desire to distroy Iran. Natanyahu and his government has a plan, One of his leader, she is a woman actually said on a live video that isreal will take the whole of Palistan, and all the other Arab lands, she call the name of the other lands around Palistan and the last name she called was Iran. So i am glad Iran did not let Natanyahu get what he want, be patience.
Iran is at war with Israel. This is not true. There hasn't been an official declaration of war.
Israel never said that Iran is stupid maybe coward but not stupid
U.S. will not admit it to the public but isrl owns U.S. there will soon be civil unrest here. U.S. being a melting pot of ALL ethnicity who pay uncle sam, it will be horrendous. For a ppl without a land, they sure have their paws EVERYWHERE.

Yes, the want to expand into several other countries to create “Greater Israel”.
As long as there are patriotic Iranians, regime change is impossible ❤️🇮🇷💪💪
unfortunately the regime does not represent majority of Iranians .
@@airdeeit does the ones who supported the king who almost sold he’s country to the Zionists and the Iranians will never forget it was The us and rest of the west who supported Sadam Husain on the iraqi Iranian war and armed the Iraq with chemical weapons which were used against civilians.
@@airdeeNor does the US puppet Reza Pahlavi.
As iranan i telling you 80% iranan supporting iranan government...don't believe everything you hear from Maine Media propaganda ..Fact ❤️🇮🇷@airdee
Iran isn't as cartoonishly evil as Israel but they're pretty bad. they don't actually care what Israel is doing to the Palestinians because Palestinians are the wrong sect. unfortunately there are no heroic governments in the region which are going to come to the Palestinians rescue. Iran cares about Iran and it's own sectarian interests, Palestinians arent included in that.
the enemy of your enemy is not your friend. people need to learn that lesson.
Trita is a very good analyst. Keep up the good work. Cheers
Great interview
Calling Netanyahu 'rogue and reckless' for committing to the destruction of Hamas is the exact same as calling Churchill and FD Roosevelt rouge and reckless for NOT negotiating with the Nazis.
Excellent analysis.
The Rothchids own 60% of lands in Israel/Palestine.
One of 5 richest in the world 550 trillion is that true or???
Doesn’t Biden see this! Why does he get fooled by Nathanyau!
Because on the one hand he's a Zionist and on the other hand driven by Evangelicals.
Brilliant, sensitive analysis!!!
Nonsense . Kampala Harris has no say in anything . She will say and do what she is told.
If you are watching this, you are watching terribly bad analysis. If Netanyahu leaves, someone worse could take his place? Nobody in the current coalition can hold a coalition.
The bipartisan uniparty will fully support military and financial support for Israel.
Excellent interview! Thanks ❤
Amazing insights. Appreciated
Good analisys and enlightenment of this near east situation.
Brilliant clear commentary
most likely Iran will move slow as always, they always try to deescalate all they can by waiting, only occident governments want them to attack nowwww, but don't think they'll take the bait
From France 🌏🌍🌎👂🏽🧐, Israël is training all the World in the 3 World War.
For those who are not aware, Trita Parsi works for Iranian regime.
This guy is so smart. Nice to meet him.❤❤❤
Vote Green!
“Reckless and rogue Benjamin Netanyahu” really?! I mean really??? Reminder, you are speaking of the ONLY democracy in the region and its democratically elected leader. Israeli leader is doing a million times better, especially if compared to Iran or its proxies, where rogue and reckless government is the least of everyone’s concerns. You lost me at 2:00
I can’t listen to any stupid who says Russia can’t even reach Kiev
Fantastic interview....balanced, realistic and informative. Hats off to you both ! #Decolonise #Palestinian Revolution #PalestinianGenocide #Resist
Who is the show host?
No one speaks of PEACE.
Peace is literally impossible when one side is the oppressor and the other side is the oppressed. Has been going on for 76 years.
@bilaliqbal4012 Agreed 👍 However peace should be the focus on both sides.
Great analysis….thank. You 22:18 22:19
Trita Parsi always gives very good analyses of situations. Thanks for a very informative and insightful interview.
This has been happening for 76 years…………………….. AMERICA wants this
Bravo for this sensical analysis of Middle Eastern politics
Iran's prestige is raised by its patience and non response...as contrast to Israel with no integrity.
Iranian "regime"? Get lost
~ 50 min Interviewer expands on Biden's view that Israel serves as USA's "power projector." If granted, question I have is, To what purpose? What is the use or need to project power in that region? Is it just power for Chest Thumping creds, or is there something being gained from that "power." If it's about oil -- then why sanction ie. Iraq & Iran ability to market oil? Isn't it easier & cheaper to just compete and trade?
Superb observations from 40 mins.
African Americans against supporting Zionism.
I love Trita Parsi. Not just smart, but also wise.
Agree. Top drawer analysis
Can someone explain why the Biden normalization deal would push Netanyahu out of office as Parsi claims? Netanyahu was not surprisingly a huge supporter of the deal.
Israel must return its citizens whose origins are unknown to where they came from, in order for peace to prevail in the Arab region.
There were 1500 settlers in 70s in WB as per talks by Pres Jimmy Carter who made peace between Egypt and Israel and he tried again between Palestine and Israel but Netanyahu hated this move
Parsi is not an objective analysis, he is working for the regime of Iran.
I think everyone just wants Israel to leave them alone.
Trita Parsi is an American national no different than other Americans who support the Us interest . He calls Iran a regime not elected government more valid than American regime.
Is it true that Mr. Parsi is the grandson of the famous Mr. Navab Safavi?
How does BRICS possibly change things?
People keep talking about Netanyahu, why he's doing what he's doing?
Hamas vowed to keep doing it Oct. 7th.
What would you do, if somebody said I'm gonna keep trying to kill you are people? Would you just let them keep doing it? Would you try to put an end to him? I wish people have some common sense. There are still innocent Israeli hostages, And they want you to give up Palestinian killers from prison. And negotiate with terrorists to give up 100 killers for one innocent Israeli hostage. I know if you're honest with yourself you wouldn't do something so stupid.
So you think Pakestinians should just live on their knees and accept being imprisoned and killed, living in deprivation and subjugation for another 76 years. No thanks.
Where are the champions of so called human rights freedom equality 50000 children women and infrastructure gone common now please people can see what u people are really about selective condemnation
50,000??? And not a single one was a Hamas soldier? In what world do you think that's real?
