He is so stunning! love a blue horse and he's built quite a big bigger than the slim/tall Chrome, I wonder how that will difference will effect the race?
Well, we will see. I am saying that over the years I have seen this time as 'dry' definitely not rainy in Florida . I am also a native. That is all I am saying. I doubt it will rain around the 28th or be wet . i sure haven't seen this rain you're talking about. I know the weather has been changing a lot even in Hallendale. I will almost bet no rain around the 28th. Just my guess. By that time the weather should be more adjusted. But, we shall see! :)
I heard about that. I will bet no rain anytime around that day. So, I will eat my words come that day and I am wrong. I will be there for that race, and I will comment on here if I am wrong and say so myself, but doubt rain will happen.... I will wear a long sleeve dress just in case it is a little chilly or windy.
Silvia C I don't live in Flordia, but I'd appreciate it since I don't have TVG at the house I'll have to wait for TVG to post it. Personally going for Chrome, but I know Arrogate is a big possibility. But Im sticking with Chrome, have since 2014 and I'm not just gonna hop on another band wagon now. He's been an underdog basically all his life and etc, so he has my backing no matter what. Again I'd appreciate it very much if you'd comment the weather and such if you don't forget.
Will do. Yes, going for Chrome. I would not underestimate any of them. I hear Eragon can be another one to look at, and if Keen Ice is feeling the track....he could come out of nowhere, too. Basically, for 12 million they're all a threat. It will be interesting. I do think Arrogate has his game on, but I wonder how he takes travelling. Also, who will favor this track? We will see...
January 28 2017. GR1 $12 million Pegasus Cup at Gulfstream Park. He'll be facing California Chrome in a rematch. Arrogate should win easier then he did at the Breeders Cup.
What a looker! At a big disadvantage in PWC, track conformation, speed carrying, I agree with Baffert that the PP draw will be critical to Arrogate because Chrome always get a good break from the gate and has speed to get position. Ironic, $12 million dollar race at 9 furlongs where the first turn is so close to the start???
We could be.. He's an extraordinary animal.. He's rated 6lb (or 3 lengths) superior to Ribot as a 3 year old.. Ribot improved a further 9lb as a 4 year old.. If Arrogate done the same, well we'd be looking at a "potentially" better horse than Frankel.. It's unlikely, but he could, as some have suggested, be up with Secretariat - he'd have to improve another 5lb, which I think isn't out of the realm of possibility.. :)
It would be a dream coming true :D I've always wanted to follow a champion from his first race (as I only could watch Ribot and Varenne only on replay) But he has something that truly reminds me of Tesio's colt... Long legs, deep lungs, and that wide stride that as Lidia Tesio used to say "if you put a glass of water on Ribot's back while he gallops, not a drop will be spilled" :)
No need to get angry XD Well, Ribot was named horse of the century for some reason, he was (is) in my opinion the greatest :) Arrogate just "reminds" me of him ^_^ his build, and stride... all here, no more :)
Hahaa what's up Rodriguez.. we used to talk a while back, you're a funny guy.. ex-trainer right? I know all about your disdain for Sec.. You say it's word at the track he was juiced, right? The thing is, all we can go off today is video evidence and testimony from those of his era.. Timeform, suspect he was rated 144, while Beyer, based on his calculations, would have him 151-153.. Ribot's rated 142 (and 133 as a 3 year old) - Arrogates rated 139 - the best you've had in decades (on dirt) ..so it's pretty reasonable to compare him with Ribot - especially at this stage of his career - if he slams Chrome in the Pegasus, he may just be held in the same breath as Secretariat :)
It's awesome how've you connected with Ribot so much to hail him the greatest - plenty will agree with you! :) .. Lester Pigot says Sea Bird was greatest he's seen, followed by Ribot.. and rates Ribot ahead of Frankel.. I tend to disagree but you have to respect when it comes from someone like him.. Oh thanks for enlightening us on Varenne - I wasn't aware of him but I'll be sure to check out his replays - he has some record - 73 races, 62 wins.. He's a champion alright.. Varenne and Ribot, the two greatest to come from Italy! Although we can't forgot Nearco and Cavalier D’Arpino - who Tesio considered the best he ever bred - before his ultimate masterpiece - that was Ribot :)

Feels like watching Ribot run again
