Hey Cody, great video with helpful tips of training. In watching other trainers videos, they say that introducing food when beginning training makes the animal dependent on food to execute the commands. Seems like Rue is responding well. What is your thoughts on food and training? Looking forward to seeing the other 2 videos in the series.

Yeah we don’t want the dog to only perform for food. This is why we eventually fade the food out by making it random when they get it, or combining multiple behaviors but only rewarding the last one. I like using food at first because it rewards the dog and makes them enjoy the process of learning. Just watch how happy rue is. But yes, this is just a phase, not long term.
