Clement "Coxsone" Dodd - Born on January 26, 1934

Clement Seymour Dodd was born on January 26, 1932. We celebrate today his great accomplishments as Jamaica's top musical pioneer.
In his early twenties, inspired by his love of music, he began the journey that was his dream. As a youthful dancer much in demand he branched out by using his mother's establishment to start playing records and growing an audience. He went on to become one of the top early dancehall promoters before turning to creating his own recordings. With a keen ear for hits he discovered many of Jamaica's greatest singers, and was instrumental in launching the careers of many, including Toots & the Maytals and Bob Marley. He became one of the cornerstones of the reggae industry and Jamaica's greatest producer.
His legacy is the music he created.
