this comment used to say something else, but basically, i get a bit teary-eyed whenever i come back to listen to this. love one piece - hope anyone who reads this is doing well ^^
I know a lot of people often don't believe or want to believe it, but I think sometimes there is such a thing as a series going on too long. One Piece is still considered pretty good for Shonen, but I'm not gonna deny that it's started to drag since the Sabody Archipelago Arc (Mainford Arc/Ace Rescue Arc revitalized it a bit, but still).
Eh, for me One Piece has always had the same level of slow-pacing and high-quality. I mean sure, there are definitely points where it has felt a bit overlong, (Dressrosa at times tbh, though I liked the arc) but I feel like bad pacing is a bigger issue with the anime. I've long since stopped watching the anime, (it's a shame how amazing the voice actors & soundtrack are, if only they were coupled with competent animation & good pacing) and while I agree that the manga is slow-paced, slow pacing doesn't equate to bad-pacing. I still have my issues with One Piece occasionally, there are numerous flaws I could pick out of the series as a whole, and several in regards to specific arcs. But regardless, I think on the whole it's maintained a great level of consistency. There are definitely changes in tone, aesthetic, and style throughout the series, but as a whole I'd argue it stays mostly in-line with an overall tone. Earlier parts like East Blue feel very laid-back and nostalgic, Alabasta carries a lot more intensity with their first huge conflict as "real" pirates, the Water 7 Saga feels more personal and hopeless at times, while the Whitebeard War Saga takes that to further extremes by splitting up the crew & throwing failure after failure at Luffy for the first time. Each new saga brings with it varying themes and narrative stakes but still keeps progressing the overall adventure narrative. I mean, the current Yonko Saga feels huge, rightfully so as by now the Straw-Hats have reached a point where their actions WILL change the fate of the entire world. Despite being my favorite manga series, One Piece is far from immune to criticism, I'm clearly a huge fan and I still can find plenty of flaws. That said One Piece has been on a slow path this whole time, building up to something immense & climactic from the start. And given recent interviews and the path the story's been taking, One Piece is around 75% done. Sure we still have plenty of time left, but in the light of several developments & plot-points, I think it's safe to say the finish line is finally in sight. I don't want One Piece to end any time soon, but I have full confidence Oda will bring his opus to a grand conclusion.

I seriously do wanna make my own anime spin-off intros starring me and my friends because these openings remind me that my life would make a hell of a story, but I'm no good at animating and I don't know if anyone would be willing to undergo such a massive project like that all for one person's dreams, but this would be my first choice for an opener now a days, then my life's "first season" (like elementary to middle school) would be Fairy Tail - Sense of Wonder, and my first job back at UPS would be a whole season with Dragonball's "Dragon Soul" opening. I comment almost never on YT, but after seeing this I felt the need to say something even though you commented over a year ago. If that's the path you want to go, it demands a dramatic mental shift and vicious respect for time. The vision will require you to become a different person and change the direction / trajectory of your life by programming ever ounce & fiber of your body to problemsolve towards your vision, so that even when you're weak, broken and defeated, you're still problem solving towards the vision. You're gonna have to take an honest look at yourself and ask "how badly do you want it?" & every single day you're going to have to keep the vision in mind as a constant throughout the different seasons & struggles in your life. Start small if you have to. Ask yourself whether the many fears & doubts you may have are worth overcoming for the vision & resolve yourself. Plot out the optimal schedule you would follow that would get you the results you wanted, obsessively note take in your freetime, draw diagrams, storyboards, look into courses, organize your findings, make a gameplan, etc. to get the ball rolling. I'm probably going deeper than I'd outta, but on the off chance you haven't brushed off the vision as a phase that's faded away in your mind and you still entertain it the vision b/c of how irresistible the possibility is then I hope this helps you meditate on it. A bit ignorant of me to not consider what obligations you may have in your life amongst other life circumstances, but I hope you end up spending time where you want to b/c its your life. We don't have much time. I think I've robbed both of us (and any other readers) of enough time already. P.S. Reason I felt the need to say something was b/c I've been on a storytelling grind for a while and the subject matter is based on friends from my past, similar to what you mentioned a year ago. I hope this helps you somehow, if this has triggered you to get uncomfortable then good, you're getting closer to the truth.

I agree with both of ya'll. I definitely love the epic route One Piece has gone - Oda works hard & the series has very consistent quality. That said, it's hard to say whether current OP is "better" than other parts of the series. Although many people say that the series "only gets good" by Arlong Park/Alabasta/Ennies Lobby/or- whatever, I think East Blue (and the first 3 Sagas in general East Blue Alabasta and Skypiea) is really fantastic in it's own right. While yes, it's a pretty slow build-up, (the whole series is) I adore it's laid-back feeling. I mean sure it definitely has its more dark, dramatic, or otherwise tense moments, but in comparison to later parts of the show it feels much more light. While later arcs just get bigger & more epic in size, East Blue was a collection of several smaller, but still fun stories. I love how it captures the feeling of pirates drifting around slowly, gathering a crew, and eventually setting off into the larger world. There's something inherently nostalgic & charming in the structure and aesthetic of East Blue, and it's a part of One Piece that I utterly adore. I mean it was where we all started. While I can understand people who think One Piece gets much better later on, (while I somewhat disagree, I still think it does different, but similar things with pretty much the same level of quality) I really don't get people who say it "only gets good" 50/100/200 episodes in. I mean honestly, if you disliked the first 50 episodes of something, wouldn't you have stopped? I would have! I don't even know what to say about people who watched 200 episodes of OP before "liking" it. I don't know what kind of time you have, but if I didn't like, much less hated something, there's no way I'd even make it to 50 episodes.
It's hard to keep something as interesting when it's gone on for so long. I think the series is surprisingly still good. TBH, I figure it should have gone to total shit by now. Fishman Island was a low point, and Dressrosa's pacing was in the toilet, but it seems to be back on track now. :)
This is my favorite one piece English dub opening. I really wish they would have continued dubbing the openings after the time skip they were actually amazing
They stopped dubbing them long before that, i believe they only dubbed the first four. Still, i wish they dubbed all of them. I wonder if it was a licensing issue? Like maybe a music studio owned the intros past the fourth intro or something?

The light I have searched for everywhere
Most people when hearing this: “the world!”
Me: “DIO?!”
This song is freaking amazing!

that wallpaper
Ahhhhh... Ahhhh... Ahhhhh...
(The world! What a glorious place!
Seek freedom, and it will lie stretched out before your eyes.
If the endless dream guides your restless spirit, seize it!
Raise your flag and stand tall!)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!
I think back to the time when my search first began
I left behind those shores of sand
For the endless everlasting world out there
I know that with this burning passion driving me
Someday, somewhere I'll finally see
The light I have searched for everywhere
When the summer sun is shining
Shaking the sails of my heart I know
(Fly away glum blue sea)
A brand new world that had been hiding,
Has opened up it's doors for me to go!
(Fly away glum blue sky)
Swaying in the troubled waves
From all despair I can be saved
For the horizon on the other side is
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!
Is what I aim for!
And though I traveled far from where my search began
Over seas of green and shores of sand
Through the endless everlasting world out there
I know that with this burning passion driving me
Someday, somewhere I'll finally see
The light I have searched for everywhere

Legendary
They did you so wrong Vic. Papa Bless whatever you tackle next in your career
Good job!
This song is awesome
Awesome guitar solo
yes it is! :D
You can't just stick toghether this opening 2 times in a row and say its full version
xD ikr
I don't know that they ever dubbed the full version of this song, or any of the other One Piece openings for that matter. That said, they should have called this one "extended" instead of "full".
HUSH! It saves me a click of the replay button hahaha!
Epic
Vic mignogna has a good singing voice and my fav voice actor
rip memories :')
Love it
Nice! :)
What other anime introductions does Vic sing? I am just aware of this one and dragon ball g t .
he does the first opening for one piece as well
Animeclass101 Vic also does the Dragon Ball z Kai theme song (for the TV Broadcast and part 3 on Blu ray and dvd), it sounds somewhat like the GT op.
10/10 perfect song🥹
In japanese mid, in english best opening or almost the best behind jungle p for me sooo goood
Not bad....for an english version
Best theme in my opinion
Cried listening to this
rw:i sang this song once b4 in libcon2010 and i was able to keep up with the song and sang it all too^_^
I usually don't like dubbing but we know everything has it exception
1:44 oooh :( not a very pleasant key change...
I have too agree. I thought there was an issue with my phone!
My favorite one piece opening.
They dont do a Straight off translation, they translate it and then alter the words to make the same meaning etc etc.
Yup! :)
guys luffy is my dad
Yeah I can't believe I NEVER noticed when I was watching the dub, especially considering Fullmetal Alchemist is one of my favourite anime dubs
10 years ...
Edward Elric (Vic Micmoigna) has some PIPES.
Wish One Piece would get back to openings like this
Fr cause op 21 is some garbage
Yeah, it's him singing Hikari E
What. The. Hell. Was that transition?!?!...
Why does this have 2000s Disney channel vibe
I like the Japanese version better, but you've gotta admit, they did hell of a good job with this.
This song is hard
Its the bes OP all other opinions are simply invalid
Ik the English and Japanese version word by word now
ya its Vic
