What a great show. Graeme Garden is one of my comedy heroes and it is no surprise he had some great clips to share with us.

It's almost a running gag in itself with the "clip removed" thing for the vast majority of the clips! ;)

Due to copyright issues I've had to remove my comment.

Sad that many of the clips are unavailable.

Loved Harold Lloyd. Buster Keaton did a Twilight Zone episode - check it out. Larry Stephens was the other Goon writer. Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid is a brilliant early Steve Martin film.

Graeme Garden is definitely one of my heroes, starting from The Goodies, which luckily the CBC repeated over and over.
Then I rediscovered and admired him even more him with ISIHAC, Hamish and Dougal and on The Unbelievable Truth, which made me discover Barry Cryer and David Mitchell who other heroes of mine. And appreciate Tim Brooke-Taylor even more of course too.
Most clips can be found by searching TH-cam.
🚩My dad was a huge Sellers fan. I didn’t even realize it was Sellers in the Sykes clip I found. Totally different from his Clouseau and Chance personas. On Sykes : th-cam.com/video/rnmSV4Wh7eg/w-d-xo.html
Biggus Dickus and Welease Bwian scenes: th-cam.com/video/HrcbCW4y9Dw/w-d-xo.html

The thing about the early days of the film industry that people forget was the reason many people seemed to find people like Chaplin and Keaton 3 Stooges, Abbot and Costello etc. even Laurel and Hardy, funny, was because they had (a) very few things or people to compare to
and (b) people were just over awed by the movie process in itself. I find them as funny as a fart in an elevator.
Even the comedy shows and duos of the 50,60,70,80s 90s etc are not as funny. They were then because the competition was not great. With few tv channels to choose from it was inevitable that people thought at least one or two were hilarious. The 2 Ronnies, French and Saunders and others gave a new breath to comedy. But they, even Monty Python and dare I say it, The Goodies would not find audiences these days. Not saying things are better, just different. But as I am 70 I can say with some experience that I would be surprised if the old things even made me smile.
