Some of the fashion brands contract them out to reputable brands. Like for example Ralph Lauren works in a partnership with Richemont Groups, the company that owns IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre , Cartier , Vacheron Constantin and more. Most fashion brands are junk, but you need to look at each one as their own thing. As to Gucci, there is a debate about their quality because 40 years ago they bought a Swiss watch company, and made it Gucci Watches, and that is who makes it. As to Fossil, it was founded as a budget quartz watch company in the 80s, and while they make a lot of the fashion watches, their own name brand stuff are actually decent quality for the price.

Great video as always! Basically spot on, though it does seem like you're often talking in re-sale values, when the original commenters MAY be quoting new prices. Just for example, the Speedy Pro @ 9:00 you say is a $4,000 watch - and while it's true you can buy used versions for around $4k, if you're buying brand new from an AD the price will be higher than that. A brand new saphire Speedmaster Pro is now selling for $10,900 CAD here in Ontario, Canada. After 13% HST that's going to be $12,317 CAD (~9K USD) out-the-door if you're paying retail.

The 'everyday watch' has been an elusive idea for me. Maybe you have some suggestions in different price categories? This is your first video in which you don't even name your arch enemy. Righteously so, it truly is the Voldemort among watches. 😂
Sorry mr Nico but Rolex and Cartier have made a collab ...The established wisdom suggests that, for a brief period of time in the Seventies, Rolex watches were stocked at Cartier New York’s Fifth Avenue boutique. If that sounds unlikely, it’s worth remembering that in the Seventies, the London, New York and Paris offices of Cartier were entirely separate businesses - the brand having originally been fractured by WWII - and the owner of the US business, Robert Kenmore, took liberties with the brand that would never be accepted today, such as using the premises to sell fur coats made by one of the other companies he owned. However, Paul Altieri, founder of California-based Rolex specialist Bob’s Watches believes this “brief window” actually extends way back to the early Fifties, citing a 1956 Cartier-signed Ref 6484 sold at Christie’s Geneva in May 2015. According to Ghotbi, the practice of both brand and retailer signing watch dials waned in the Eighties before disappearing in the Nineties.
