  • Despite the humidity, over 120 professional cyclists from around the globe started a 6km breezy adventure along the Bund this morning. They’re here this week, of course, for the Tour of Shanghai, the city’s latest big sporting event.
The Tour of Shanghai takes place over three stages from September 20 to 22 in the suburban districts of Jiading, Qingpu, Songjiang, and Fengxian, as well as Nanhui area of Pudong. The race connects Shanghai’s emerging suburban areas in a thrilling loop, passing hotspots such as Shanghai International Circuit, Zhujiajiao Water Town, Dianshan Lake, Fengxian Museum, and Dishui Lake.
During their stay in Shanghai, the foreign cyclists have also learned about Chinese folklore while participating in cultural activities. They learned to play Chinese chess in Jiading District, were transported back to the bustling streets of 20th century Shanghai at Shanghai Film Park in Songjiang, will watch the Shanghai Tourism Festival Parade in Fengxian and see animals at Haichang Ocean Park in Lingang New Area.
Curious about what they experienced here, they can't wait to capture this wonderful memory of Shanghai on their mobile phones or cameras. They were impressed to experience Chinese martial arts on the set of a Chinese action film at Shanghai Film Park in Songjiang.
There are currently about 6 million cycling enthusiasts in the country and more than 100 million people ride regularly, according to the China Bicycle Association.
