From what I know of what happened (not very well), I totally agree with Safi not letting Salongo be his manager. Salongo's goal from the first minute is to get the Kanazi Talent, if I understand correctly, but that makes sense. He hoped to sit on top of a mountain of money. He needed Karyuri just for that. If he only wants to help the poor, he could help a lot of children. If he were to set up a table in front of the Karyuris' house and feed the hungry there, he would be able to spend the money he is mindlessly shoveling out the window of his own house much better today, on everything from gasoline to hair dye. It could help a lot of families. But he believed that the success of Kanazi Talent was solely Karyu's success. He was very wrong about that. He thought if he took Karyuri, he could blackmail Safi. He underestimated Safi's intelligence, talent and honor. Safi very cleverly protects the children, himself and his achievements from this. Salongo is not fair, I wouldn't trust him. I am surprised that the Rwandan society accepts such a person and even considers him as a god. This seems quite incredible to European eyes. I don't know how Safi's life started, where his family is, how he lived. I see from interviews in 2020 that he did not live very well, and I understand that he lived there in the Kanazi community. That is why I expected the local community to support Safi with all its might. But I don't see that. It is true that poverty makes them weak and vulnerable. Karyuri's grandmother is a dramatic example. I expected that there is a smart, educated, young part of the society that recognizes how much more modern Safi's thinking is and how much more committed to helping the poor in Kanazi. There are faint signs of this when I look at the comments or the faces popping up around Safi. But unfortunately, I also see that many people uncritically admire Salongo, who slaps his employees, walks around with bodyguards and iron bars, who looks at who and what he can buy cheaply and at a great profit, even children, and he commits illegal acts in his own backyard, the world before. This is the reality that I also sadly see from Europe. We would say that Salongo's thinking is feudal. For him, there are important and valuable people, and there are those who don't matter, and he even buys some for money. (See how he's already tagged the kids he cares about in his dance group!) For Rwandans, the future lies in people like Safi. If Safi wants to leave the Kanazi children there so that he can organize Kigali Talent from the children of rich families, he can do it anytime. But he didn't! He is a responsible and loyal guy. And one more thing: he does what he knows how to do. Salongo builds a bad road, organizes an amazing dance group, teaches his family to play the piano with a bad piano teacher, and so on with a huge media campaign. But who can say that Safi is not effective with his team, is not a good manager, does not dance well, is not a good teacher, has no taste? He must have failures, because everyone has them, but he builds on knowledge, sees his strength in it, and expects this from the puppies. When I saw the video for Goodnews yesterday and the group was getting ready to go on stage, but they hadn't done anything yet, I knew right away that we were going to see something completely new from a group that boldly believes in themselves. How would Safi put this team in the hands of Salongo, who is still there to slap his senior employee in front of the world, steal the choreography from Safi, and play the poor man with his kids with dyed hair in the third scandalously bad video? I think so, Safi will not sacrifice the Kanazi Talent kids to get Karyuri back. Either he can help him, or Karyuri becomes a victim of the situation. I might post about it on GoodNews later today.
